While Ballroom promotes itself as a meatball shop, the other options are much better. We found the meatball to be under-seasoned with an overwhelming black-bean taste to the sauce. However the short ribs, cod balls, soup, salad, and croquettes were much more enjoyable. Another selling point is that they have 55 different kinds of gin — we tried about 12, all of which offered something different. The pours are very small, barely an ounce, and as they like to say«Spanish style» which means that they’re in a wine glass with a lot of ice and often paired with specific tonics. One surprise; a gin bar that couldn’t make a classic martini. Yes, I know it’s an American drink, but it’s also a gin drink. Service was very friendly and prompt. The manager sat with us for a while and was delightful. The location is among other late-night restaurants and bars. The restaurant itself is dark and moody, yet lively. Ask for the set of playing cards with all of the gins that they carry. Worth a visit if you’re in Rotterdam!
