My three guests and I stumbled upon this café mid afternoon on a cold, rainy trip to see a local circus performing nearby. The«staff»(understood to be the owner) was the only one working at the time, and the place was empty except for one other couple. His service was rude and insulting to my guests. One of them had part of a bagel that she was finishing from outside of «his restaurant». Yes, it was a bit rude of her to carry it in, but she did order cofee, and there was literally three bites left. Her«transgression» was met with insult and a scolding from the owner well beyond a resonable point. I insisted on being poilite, and did my best to defuse the situation, but entering the Daily Café was an experience that threatened to ruin an otherwise fun, and happy afternoon.

March 2015UPDATE: Daily Deli has closed its doors. Very Sad. {Original Review Below} What a great find! Daily Deli just opened its doors and offers a clean, conscious and delicious approach to late-morning through lunch(and into early Dinner) hours. The food is a wonderful combination of home-crafted comfort foods(we had pulled pork, and an Italian meatballs dish) served in a modern atmosphere. It’s sort of like the nice place to meet new friends(think«Cheers»), sit outside(if it’s a nice day), enjoy some beautiful hand-crafted beers, a cheese plate, smoothies, sandwiches, and pastries if you wish. The coffee was like liquid gold, by the way. The prices are very inexpensive, especially if you are like me, as a traveler, always seeming to encounter too many overpriced establishments. Daily Deli is extremely affordable, and perhaps less expensive(and way less hassle) then cooking it yourself. The owner René is a great guy; the kind of man you’d want to have a beer with at the end of the day. Good people making great affordable food, in a clean and happy space. I’ll be back every time I visit Rotterdam. Try this place as soon as you can.
