The Rookies

I loved this coffee shop.
A very large range of weed, quite cheap, and a very good bar.
We have been there a couple of times during our stay. The guys at the bar are helpful in the choice of weed and they can explain you every type they have on their «menu».
You can stay in or stay out, there are a couple of tables outside.
The coffee (espresso) is very good and their cakes are tasty too.
If you are in the neighbourhood i vividly suggest you to go there for a quick smoke and for a cup of something.
Really nice enviroment with nice waitresses and cashiers.
If i would ever go back to amsterdam i will definetly go back to this nice and lovely coffee shop!

Good vibe and spacious lounge area. Prices are decent for joints too. Tucked away near some quality food areas and not far from where we were staying.

Rookies is located in the Leidseplein area of Amsterdam, which means it’s busy! This shop always has a great weed selection and has a comfy smoking lounge… They had some pretty decent Space Cakes that didn’t rock my world, but hit the spot… This shop was one of my Firsts YEARS ago, and I’ll continue to visit each time I come to Amsterdam…

This place is amazing and super chill. Smoking indoors at a café? What more can you ask for???

Hotel I cannot comment on, as that is one area I spend (foolishly) money on… I like nice hotels !!
The coffee shop has maybe fewer tourists… although tourists don’t necessarily mean unsophisticated rubes… sometimes tis nice to talk with them ferrriners !

The coffee is great, they so many different coffees, the choice is great and when you leave your coffee will keep you going all day.

The hotel is not that good. There’s never a receptionist. It’s noisy. They don’t clean the rooms everyday. I’ve been using the same towel for 3 days now. And the rooms are tiny and the shower is awkward. And try climbing those stairs with luggage. Almost impossible. I do not recommend at all.

This is a review for the coffee shop not for the hotel.
My favorite coffee shop in Amsterdam. The ones you find in the guide books are way too packed and some have creepy vibes. This place however, was awesome. Very laid back. The people who work there are very knowledgeable and helpful. We tried out other places, but ended up back here every time. I probably ended up spending ¹⁄₃ of my time in Amsterdam at this coffee shop. =)

Hier kann man draußen und drinnen sitzen. Gute Musik, ruhige Umgebung.

just got back from amsterdam yesterday with my bro stayed at rookies nice place my first time there coffeeshop is good too and the staff are very friendly and helpful lots of clubs too dam square only 10 – 15 mins away on foot i wish i was still there thats how good it was red light district was very GOOD too will definitely be staying at rookies next time ¹⁰⁄₁₀

This isn’t just a coffeeshop — it has a hotel upstairs which is nicely priced and comfortable. The guy who runs it is really nice and we had a very pleasant stay.
The coffeeshop is relaxed and has a good bar as well as the extras one expects in such establishments in Amsterdam. To get over the smioking ban they have screened off part of the coffeeshop for smoking purposes and it actually works very well.
Because this is down in the less frequented part of the city (i.e. away from the main section of Dam Square and the red light district) it is more relaxed — it also means the place closes a little earlier than the bars in the busier area. It’s one of my favourite haunts in the city and one which I keep returning to.
