Laut und sehr voll an einem Freitagabend. Abseits der Touri-​Locations liegt das Wirtshaus. Gemütlich war es eigentlich schon, aber es lud irgendwie nicht zum Verweilen ein. Der Burger eher durchschnittlich mit Standard-​Burgerbrötchen und Pommes. Das Fleisch schmeckte gut, aber leider nicht schön saftig. Die Karte könnte man bei dem Licht nur mit Kerze oder Handy-​Taschenlampe lesen. Vielleicht das nächste Mal dann eher nen Flammkuchen probieren. reservieren braucht man eigentlich nicht, da es sehr viele Plätze gibt und ständig wieder ein Tisch frei wurde.

Great ambience good place to go with a crowd, really nice coffee and good service. I visited Café Ebeling yesterday and honestly had never heard of it before a friend asked to meet me there and was raving about the food. So I thought why not lets have some coffee and get a bite to eat.
So I went there around 10:30am it was opening up so it was quite empty but at 11am the place was suddenly really packed.
I didn’t order anything to eat, my friend order their breakfast special and I had my cappuccino, quite tasty i must add. It’s a really big place nice décor and actually not a bad idea. I’m definitely gonna go again to try their food.

This place has a great ambiance! It’s a very open space with exposed fixtures. It’s great to come for a drink, alcoholic or non, but I’m not a huge fan of the food.

It was good but the menus aren’t in English! However they are very accommodating. Cute place. I recommend trying.

We decided to try this place because it was very close to our hotel and we’re glad we did. It is a good, casual gastropub. It is just outside the craziness of the Canal Zone and is clearly not a tourist spot (no English on the menus). But the staff was very friendly and helpful and explained everything. They had a nice selection of main courses (some are Dutch dishes), burgers, salads and flat breads. Everything we had was good. The space is nice and they have tables out front if the weather is good. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a solid place outside the tourist craziness.

De Ebeling was a surprise to us. We were walking down a street towards the centre and found walked past this restaurant that looked really warm and cozy inside, went inside and the guy behind the bar was really welcoming, spoke English and took the time to translate the menu for us as they didn’t have and english menu. We were immediately pleased and decided to eat there. I would no doubt come back there again! Really really delicious food, good quality, the salad and steak was perfect. It was great and affordable! I would give 5* but there was some black stuff in my club sandwich that was apparently hummus, which it obviously wasn’t. Slightly ruined it for me but overall I’m pleased, would recommend :)

Mhm, ok, the interior was nice and the food was yummy. But the prizes were a bit high and the stuff was only partly friendly…

Really cool and cozy bar! From having a quiet dinner during the week to have a great party on the weekend!
Nice cocktails/​beers and delicious hamburgers.
They have a big room that can be used for private parties. No rent fee but 700 eu minimum consumption. Worthy!

Loved De Ebeling! Super charming feel– very warm and welcoming. We decided to stop in after the Van Gogh museum for some snacks and a beverage or two. We were there at a bit of an odd time (around 3pm), so it wasn’t particularly crowded, so I can’t speak to how crowded it may get. Cute patio out front that’s covered which I’d imagine would be nice for people watching. It was raining while we were there, so we just enjoyed the cozy atmosphere inside. Our waitress was absolutely lovely and helped us fumble through the menu since we wanted some quintessentially Dutch snackies. We had one of the pizzas, which had cream cheese sauce instead of tomato sauce and was tasty and also some bitterballen! It was a wonderful experience overall– and a nice escape from some of the super touristy places we could have gotten sucked into.

Nice place for a beer and some snacks. Don’t order the Hamburger, the meat is not fresh, and the burger not great. The little pizza’s are great and fresh! Althought one time it was not prepared well, the toppings where only in the middle. They have a lot of different beers. I come here quite often.

Friday evening, glass of wine, catching up with a friend and have some eye candy around (we are single ladies, so we always need some eye candy around).
This was the set plan for my Friday evening!
The plan was to go to one of the bars at WTC, but since it was raining so heavily Friday we decided to look for a bar closer to home. So i remembered that Bar Simple had now turned into a new bar but since I hadn’t been yet I decided this was the place to check out. And now that Unilocal is my new best friend in finding trendy places, fun, cozy places close to home I read some reviews and the deal was closed, The Ebeling it was! And the Ebeling did not disappoint (or should I say the reviews didn’t disappoint)
As we walked in I straight away noticed that the establishment is so much lighter, cozier and just friendlier then Simple used to be. Don’t miss-​understand me, I liked Simple as well but this upgrade is for the better.
Since our mission was catching up, some wine, and checking out the local eye candy we decided to sit at the bar. However there was only bar stool left. But before we could even decide to then go and sit somewhere else, one of the very friendly staff members had come up to us. He asked us if he could help us and within no-​time he came back with an extra bar stool!
Now as we all know The Netherlands is not a wine drinking country like our southern european countries, thus it is always difficult to find good wine or a selection of wines in a bar unless it’s a wine bar. But in Ebeling they actually have a wine card and… They even have portuguese wines (I love portuguese wines) on their list. So I treated myself to a lovely glass of Lista Negra, a lovely white wine blend.
As the evening progressed and it got busier in the bar, the volume of talking people went up, and they started playing some very nice party music, the Bar-​Tenders still made sure that our glasses weren’t empty. They were observant, attentive and friendly.
All of the above together with the eye candy I can safely say «Ebeling, I’ll be back!»
(ooh yeah, why 4 stars and not 5? well, I haven’t tried the food yet but the snack platters which I saw left and right from me looked and smelled very good. TBC)

Love that this is my neighborhood bar. Burgers are good and the service is fantastic. One of the few places that serves ketchup with fries when ordering a burger! Everyone is super friendly, and you always feel welcome.

An old neighborhood classic reopened. Coming back better, cleaner, sharper and more spacious then before, I have high hopes for this refurbished classic. With a simple but lovely bar menu, there is all you need to compliment drinking as well as a simple meal. Food in General is just good, would say 9 out of 10. For bar standards.
Lovely new owner who has the aim to please and so does his chef and staff. Hope they keep up this standard and maintain «classic» status.

Went to the «De Ebeling» bar reopening night on Thursday, 12^th December. De Ebeling is a great bar, private party venue in Overtoom street. The owner did a really great job with the décor. The inside looks very simple but very classy. It gives you an idea of a very funky «waiting room» with its tiled walls, big industrial lamps and simple wooden furniture. I especially love the copper pipes on the ceiling leading to really funky «old style» light bulbs.
The bar has 3 big areas — around the main bar, room on the left from the main bar and third room at the end — this one can also be rented for private parties, events. I haven’t tried any food on the opening night, but I had a quick look on the menu card and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner — café style — it all sounded really delicious on the menu card. However if you feel like you are a rather «small snacks» by your drink person you can also order one of their various snack boards. To summerize it all — Amsterdam just got another great place to hang out with your friends!! I will be definitely going back there to try some of the food menu!
