This place ended up being a great find for me. Being from the US, my schedule was a little off. It was 3:30PM and I was hungry and couldn’t wait for the true dinner time for most restaurants. This place was open and serving. They offer a nice selection of pasta dishes and some panini sandwiches. There were some ravioli’s with various stuffing. I chose a simple spaghetti with a garlic aioli. It hit the spot along with a cold beer from the cooler. This is a nice little shop selling Italian food items but it is a cozy spot with counter seating along the windows. It only holds about 9 people for eating in. But, what makes this a special treat is the owner and the other workers. Just very nice people. I also enjoyed chatting with a Dutch gentlemen that seemed to know EVERYBODY that walked in. He knew the owner, he gave people directions, he talked politics! I felt like I was eating at the family table. Great food, great conversation and it doesn’t break the bank. Great find!

Want to taste la dolce vita? Head to this wonderful place for delicious panini, pasta and pastry. Basilico was one of the first in Amsterdam to sell cannoli, deep-fried pastry stuffed with ricotta cheese. Mama mia, so good and so addictive.
