Amstel Botel

The thing about hotels is, when you’re in a cool new city, you really shouldn’t be spending too much time in them. Really, do you need much more than a place to lay your head?
Amstel Botel will give you everything you need along with the super cool experience of imagining what it would be like to be a sailor! The rooms are compact, but they will hit all the must-​haves: a bed, space for your stuff, a personal bathroom… you can even watch Seinfeld in Dutch!
The breakfast here is really pretty good, but what sold this hotel for me was the location. It is SUPER SCARY when you drive up, since it is located on a dock in what appears to be a very industrial part of town. But parking is readily available right next to the dock and, having driven in Amsterdam itself, I can tell you that this was a much better alternative to the stress of driving streets full of bicyclists and trolley cars. PLUS, there is a ferry to the main train station that is a two minute walk from the front door. So not only do you get to SLEEP on a boat, you get to RIDE on one too!
Sure, the beds aren’t the most comfortable thing, and the bathroom is a tight squeeze, but the cost isn’t too shabby, the location is great and the view across the water in the morning is superb.

Great alternative to the hustle & bustle of Central Amsterdam. The Botel is just situated a short 10 min ferry ride from Station Centraal.

— Ferries can get confusing
— No direct ferries after midnight
— Rooms, esp bathrooms are tiny
— 80s style decorum
— Cigarette machines, but no smoking (LOL)
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. I especially liked when the swans greeted me in the morning outside my window, I stayed on the first floor (really close to the water)

Amsterdam ist eine faszinierende, pulsierende Großstadt.
Da tut es gut sich nach einem interessanten Tag auf der ruhigeren Seite zu entspannen.
Man fährt vom Hauptbahnhof 10 Minuten mit der kostenlosen Fähre.
Das Botel bietet ein gutes Preis– Leistungsverhältnis bei einfacher Ausstattung.
Kleine Zimmer mit sehr kleinen Badekabinen. (Da darf kein hoher Anspruch gestellt werden).
Das Frühstück ist einfach aber lecker.
Toast, wabbelige Brötchen und sehr gute Croissants.
Kaffee schmeckt auch.
Insgesamt eine schöné Sache etwas über Jugendherbergsniveau ;-)

To me it was quite fine and unique.
It’s my first experience spending a night on a boat hotel. I went there on a rush season (in Jul) and all the hotels are sooo expensive. Only this one with reasonable price and facilities. We were on the floor which the window is 1m above the water. The room is less than 10 m².
What do I have to complain?
Location: very convenience, every 30 minutes (?) ferry from Amsterdam central directly to the boat hotel.
Price: 88 euros /​night twin bed in a rush season.
Staff: warm and welcome
Facilities: clean room (toilet not so clean), hot water to shower, free wiki, tv etc.
I might just go there again.

Kleine Zimmer mit sehr kleinen Badezimmern. Das Botel befindet sich im Norden Amsterdams. Durch eine kostenlose Fähre die sehr oft fährt kommt man sehr schnell direkt in das Stadtzentrum. Unser Zimmer geht zur Wasserseite, haben dadurch eine tolle Aussicht (siehe Foto).

Für unsere Zwecke (eine Preiswerte Übernachtung mit Frühstück in der Zentrumsnähe) war das Botel, ein Hotel auf einem Schiff sehr gut geeignet. Man kann in der Nähe gratis parken und das Hotel ist gut mit dem Auto erreichbar.
Es liegt im Norden von Amsterdam, mit der kostenlosen Fähre ist man aber sehr schnell an der Central Station.
Die Zimmer sind Schiffsentsprechend eher klein aber ausreichend. Es gibt auch 5 deutsche Fernsehsender.
Das Frühstück ist in Ordnung, an der Bar gibt es ganztags kleine Snacks. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Allerdings, wie in ganz Amsterdam, kommt man auf Englisch besser weiter

Poor facilities, no hot water for one day, expensive breakfast isn’t worth the money and the botel itself is across the harbor and not in central Amsterdam.
