Worth walking in for the unique wine milkshake. The owners were extremely friendly and we had a nice tasting experience. Ordered cheese and crackers and salmon for a nice light lunch. A fun activity when walking around quaint downtown Zionsville.

Loved the Riesling. Did the bigger pour wine flight of 4 wines. We also had the cranberry macadamia cheese and crackers. The live bluegrass music topped off the evening.

After a two day tour of wineries around Indiana, Hopwood Cellars was my last stop. Located in downtown Zionsville, it gets points for the décor and the location, but it’s one of the few places that my group left without purchasing anything. Let me be the first to say I’m not a wine expert by any means. I know what I like and what I don’t like, and I tend to be pretty on par with the rest of my friends. Everyone has their personal preference, and Hopwood just wasn’t the place for me. I paid $ 5 for the wine tasting of 5 wines and stuck with the dry whites and reds. The guy behind the counter was friendly, but seemed like he probably used the same words to describe the wine 100 times a day and his delivery sounded a bit rehearsed and came across a little too much like a salesman.

Hopwood Cellars Winery is nestled in the charming cobblestoned village of Zionsville, IN. It has a warm and cozy ambiance with a comfortable sitting area equipped with sofas that have comfortable overstuffed cushions and also contains a glowing faux wood-burning stove. A sizable bar is located in the center of the establishment for those desiring to be closer to the nectar than the sitting room allows. My daughter and I opted to enjoy the sitting area since neither one of us care much for wine tasting. What brought us to Hopwood was their unique and much talked about wine shake made with Bekkar red wine and topped with a maple vodka infused grape. Janet Hopwood was cheerful, welcoming, and all too happy to serve us the unique shake and gave fair warning that the grape packed a punch. She also mentioned that if we enjoyed the shake that she would give us cards for the Shake Club where one can buy five and get the sixth free. The shake has remarkable flavor and refreshingly transforms ice cream in a way that sets it apart from any shake you have previously experienced. We were so pleased that we picked up a couple of cards for the Shake Club. Great décor, excellent customer service, and an outstanding wine shake earns Hopwood Cellars Winery four stars. The maple vodka infused grape definitely packed a punch, however, I don’t care much for maple and consequently, did not care much for the grape, which is why four versus five stars was given.

I don’t know which point of view to take in this review: mine… or my mom’s. This is what my mom would say: «The riesling was DELICIOUS! I love sweet wines, and there were so many outstanding ones at Hopwood! Oh! Did I mention there was a wine milkshake? Just WONDERFUL! I’m so happy my beautiful, thoughtful eldest daughter brought me here!» This is what I would say: «Hopwood has such a Girlfriends’ Weekend vibe to it. You and your closest female friends poppin’ in for a Saturday afternoon of wine tasting and… wine milkshakes? Yep, you read that right. Vanilla ice cream + ¼ c. red wine + whipped cream + boozy-soaked grape on top. Suck it down while gabbin’ with your gal pals. Don’t order too many though, because there’s still booze in ‘em! Standing on their own, the wines were not so much to my liking, speaking from someone who prefers a Malbec or a Cab. Still, I can appreciate that the majority of the grapes come from Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. I’m always a big fan of the local approach.» In short: an a-okay spot to bring your favorite middle-aged mamas for wine and cheese during your day trip to Zionsville.

This was a great winery. Located in downtown Zionsville, it keeps with the atmosphere of the town. The wine was excellent, especially the wine milkshake, a must have if you visit. They had many unique blends, so it offers the opportunity to satisfy anyone’s wine choices. I would highly recommend this winery for a get together with friends or as a wine enthusiasts.

Had to try the Wineshake and absolutely love it! The wine makes it not too sweet and the perfect flavor combination. I agree with all of the other reviews– do NOT eat the alcohol-infused grape on top. It is potent and really a terrible flavor.

So I saw a friend check in here and post a picture of the Wine Shakes they make and I HAD to make my way here. The wine shake is a must try! It was such a delicious treat I wanted a second one. I could have gone without the grape though that is topped on it. It is soaked in spiced rum and the flavor does not mesh well with the wine. I am giving it 3 stars because of the lack of space and it closes so early!

It was the wine shakes that brought us in. How could you blame us for being curious? Red wine mixed with ice cream and powdered cheese topped with a vodka(and other booze) –soaked green grape — you’re curious now too, right? In the end, it was the wine shakes that left us smiling and wishing they were healthy to justify craving more. Sinfully tasty, if you will. Although, I could have done without the grape — the flavor combo didn’t do it for me. So, if I loved the wine shakes so much, why only 3 stars? My total was $ 20+ for a shake and the flight. Typically, my goal with ordering a flight is to then choose a glass of wine or bottle to order. Most wineries I’ve visited offer them for free or up to $ 6. I thought this was on the salty side. The space is ideal for smaller groups, but the massive wrap around bar in the center makes it challenging to bring in groups over 8 to 10. All in all, I highly recommend giving the wine shakes a whirl!

I have two words for you: wine shake. That’s all you need to know. But really this place was really neat inside with a very at home atmosphere. The owner was there with a smiling face ready to suggest any wine that might tickle your fancy. I had a wine shake, per the suggestion of everyone there really, and was treated to a delicious milkshake unlike any other I have ever tasted. Very reasonable prices and best part? You can bring in your own food if you choose! I will definitely be coming back!

This is a wonderful little winery. Found out about it on the Cardinal Wine trail. They have a $ 5 tasting, but waive it if you buy a bottle. After trying a few wines you will want to buy a bottle. They also have these wonderful wine shakes. Beware of the grape. It is soaked in strong alcohol!

I’ve never heard of this winery(and I have been to more than my fair share of Indiana wineries) in Zionsville. Now that I know it’s here and only a 10-minute drive from my house, I foresee many return visits in the near future. We ordered a couple wine tastings and sat in the lounge area(kids aren’t allowed in the bar area). Even though there was only 1 person working(and several other groups tasting), service was very fast and efficient. As with most wineries, the wines were hit-or-miss depending on your taste. I happen to like oaked wines, and Hopwood has a lot of them. Unfortunately, my wife does not like oaked wines so she didn’t particularly care for those. There are plenty of wines to choose from so I wouldn’t be too concerned about not finding anything you like. A tasting of 5 wines is $ 5 which is pretty standard. Also, if you buy a bottle, they waive the $ 5 tasting fee.

This is a very charming tasting room in the heart of Downtown Zionsville. I loved everything about this place. The wines were very eclectic and tasty. I was impressed at the selection of dry reds. The bottle prices for the reds and some semi-drys were priced modestly, but I found the prices a bit high for the sweeter wines. Children are not allowed on the«bar» side, but can sit on the other side with big comfy leather couches. The tasting room was nearly empty when we went, so the woman pouring was actually kind enough to do our tasting on the couch side. The tasting was priced reasonably at $ 5 for 5 generous pours, which is refunded if you purchase a bottle. We had a chuckle at the«you can’t pee for free» sign out front that noted the restroom was for paying customers.

Went here on a whim one Friday night while walking around downtown zionsville. I had heard they had«wineshakes» and I needed to have this in my life. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They were all so enthusiastic with what they are doing there. There was a live band performing and it was a quaint little Friday night. Of course I had to try that Shake and boy was I blown away! I never in a million years would have thought of adding wine to a milkshake, let alone cheese in it! The moonshine soaked grape is just the best added touch. I could sit and drink those all day, but if I did that… then sitting would be the only I could do! I want to go back more and more because I felt so welcomed there.

Cute place! Husband and I stopped in while checking out Zionsville on a beautiful day. We each tasted 5 wines, had a glass of wine and left with two bottles of the same wine, which was fantastic! Very cute place and friendly owners. Would like to go back on a night where they have live music. Check it out! :)

We made this our first stop for a bachelorette party. I was surprised to find no one else in the place and it was about 5:30 on a Saturday. We were quickly greeted and the tasting menu was in front of us. Some more people started to come in shortly after we had a our first tasting. Purse Hooks! Yes, I know it’s a simple thing, but it makes life less complicated for us ladies and they had them. So, we were off to a good start. You get to taste five wines for free. I tried the whites through a sweet red and mostly liked two of the whites. We had time and the atmosphere was nice so we stayed for a glass and one of the girls ordered the wine shake so we could all taste it. It was very good! We heard mention of a Euchre party the next day and they were serving some snacks with live music later in the evening. Definitely a place I would check out again!

I went to Hopwood Cellars last night with a small group of women from my church, and we were all impressed. I felt relaxed as soon as I went inside — the interior is beautiful, and the music sounded like something you would hear in a massage parlor. We brought our own snacks and hung out on the couches in the corner before the tasting. There was a coffee table with several board games and decks of cards. The staff were very friendly. I was so intrigued by the idea of a wine milkshake, and it was delicious! The wines were good, too(and you get five tastes for free!). I would love to come back, especially for one of their live music nights.

This winery was featured on Fox 59 Morning Show last week for their wine shakes. Take it from me that if you have never had a wine shake, this is the place to go! Last Friday night I sat listening to live music and sipping my wine shake. I had a great conversation with a woman who came in to scope out the place for her daughter’s wedding shower. It’s a great place to hang out!

Great new winery in the downtown Zionsville area! They have a nice selection of reds and whites. Free tastings, and you can order a glass of any wine or buy a bottle to drink there or take with you. The wine shake was something unique that I have never seen before and was delicious! Very large space with plenty of room at the tasting counter or you can cozy up at one of the bistro tables. This would be a great spot for a party or event. Hopefully they’ll get some snacks soon, such as cheese plates!
