I was told by someone who works in this wine district that this winery is CLOSED. Too bad, we wanted to visit! :(

This was my first Christopher Cellars visit, but I made sure to put it on our itinerary after reading positive reviews on Unilocal. The tasting room is in a quaint barn-style building and we were greeted at the door by Josie, a friendly brown Labrador. The tasting was complimentary and there were 4 wines being poured, all reds. The 2006 Cab Sauv was so smooth and delicious and I bought a bottle for $ 18. The Syrah was rich and full of berry-taste. There were two red blends, a Merlot/Cab Franc and a Merlot/Cab Sauv. Christopher Cellars is one of the newer wineries. The service was enthusiastic and friendly. Even the glasses they used were big heavy duty wine glasses, nothing wimpy about them! The reds were all spectacular, very substantial. And the guy who was pouring our tastes was genuinely tickled pink when we spoke highly of the wine. He was especially pleased when I told him about the reviews I read on Unilocal

My favorite stop of our weekend as well. Really top-notch wines, for starters. But that was just the icing on the wine tasting experience cake! The new tasting room is beautiful and elegant, the owners are warm and gracious,(and they’re crafty! They spruced up the place themselves!), and we had a really wonderful experience. Not only was the space beautiful, but they had the prettiest labels of our whole trip, which we found out were done by the owners as well. It was great to meet them and I’m hoping we can support them by buying more wine from them in the future! We were given a private tour of the barrels and learned a ton from our hosts. It was a great experience, and we hope that they up their production for our visit next year!

By far my favorite stop of the weekend. Their wines were the biggest, boldest and bestest of all wines I tried. Their 2004 Syrah was OMG so good and yes some was purchased for home. The most important thing to know is that they are a brand new tasting room and they do not have all their permits yet so they can only be open every 21 days right now, or something like that. We just so happened to get lucky and they were open the weekend we were there. They also share their tasting room with Cultura Wines which are also delicious and some how some ended up in my car as well. Lets just say it was a good wine weekend for me. If you are heading out for wine tasting in the Yakima Valley I highly recommend making a stop here, call first to make sure they are open and than go. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. It truly was my favorite stop of the weekend and well worth a visit.
