4 star for the prices and portions. Service quality depends on how crowded the restaurant is. If you head there around 530 or 6pm when the dinner crowd is not in yet, service is excellent. Once the restaurant starts to fill up, expect long waiting times for service. Food itself is okay, and they are pretty generous with portions. The fresh fish is frozen, but pretty good for Tahoe standards. The sushi rice is the worst. Fair warning, DONOTORDERTHESUSHIRICE. It is cold, and hard, and just wrong. Oh, but we do like that they have fresh wasabi. Will definitely return again though, simply because of the lack of options around the area.

Really friendly staff and pretty good sushi. This is a good place to take a group or a family with kids. This isn’t an ambiance date night type of joint but is the kind of place you can go have fun and enjoy average to above average fish. The rice was just okay.

This is definitely a great sushi restaurant. Not only was the service great, but the quality and presentation of the food was fantastic. Not too bad when it comes to pricing, and definitely a large selection of sushi rolls. Rolls come is a great amount of pieces too, rather than the cheaper restaurants that only come with 6 – 8 pieces a roll. Will definitely visit Harumi again!

Great food and service. We normally go to The Naked Fish but thought we’d try something new. The only thing lacking is a little ambiance. But we will definitely be back next visit. I wish I would have thought to take a picture but the presentation was awesome. We ordered 4 different rolls along with a teriyaki dinner. All delicious!

Allow me to count the ways my family and I had one of the worst dining experiences 1. the staff became visibly disturbed after I asked to change one of their TVs from hockey to the playoff football game. I overhead the waitress ask«why can’t he watch the other tv(on the other side of the restaurant)». Other male staff members were gesturing towards me in a frustrated manner. 2. My father in law asked for an Asahi, a common Japanese beer found at most Japanese restaurants, and the waitress had no idea what he was talking about. She mentioned the point that she was no familiar with Japanese beers. 3. My wife asked for Ika(squid) sashimi and again the waitress was again dumbfounded. She went to ask the sushi chefs and came back and said«squid is not a fish so it can’t be served sashimi.» We asked a few more questions and they waitress asked us to ASKTHESUSHICHEFSOURSELVESBECAUSETHEYAREMEAN. She suggested we ask the American chef because the Korean ones are mean and don’t understand english. 4. I walked over to the American sushi chef and he did know if Ika could be served as sashimi. He knew it could be served as nigiri(with rice) but not as plain raw squid. He asked the Korean sushi chef if he could serve the Ika sashimi style and the Korean sushi chef shrugged affirmatively. Minutes later the American sushi chef apologetically tells us that the Ika can’t be served sashimi style. He leaves by saying, «It doesn’t make sense to me either.» 5. The waitress serves a dripping plate of food over my 4 month old daughter spilling the liquid on her. Luckily, and disgustingly, the liquid was from a puddle of water at the bottom of the salad. Needless to say the salad was not eaten. 6. Upon retrieving said plate the waitress spills the residual salad juice on my pants. 7. My mother in law found a bone in her sashimi. Born and raised in Japan and visitor to countless Japanese restaurants she had never found a bone in her sashimi until we came to this restaurant. 8. Our mediocre food all came out at different times Some positives — the restaurant was able to sit a party of 10(including an infant and two toddlers) — my daughter liked the Captain Crunch roll. I sincerely don’t understand the high ratings for this place.

Headed here when the sushi place we wanted to go to wasn’t open for lunch. The fish quality was good and the udon was delicious… otherwise, *the service was terrible(good thing for the server he added the 18% for our group of 6, he would have never gotten that from us for his service) *the sushi rice was terrible. It reminded us how important the quality of sushi rice is. We were there at noon when they opened. Couldn’t tell if it was the rice from the day before or just bad rice. It was cold, dry and not the correct texture. Probably should add that we are a group of people who eat sushi often, from SoCal, Bay Area and Sacramento. And we have made sushi rolls at home so I respect that it is not easy but I would be hesitant to return to this restaurant next time we are in Tahoe.

This is an excellent restaurant! Whenever we go there we are immediately seated and served complimentary edamame. You are given a few minutes to look at the menu and decide what you would like to order and then the waiter will take your order and the rolls are suddenly on your table waiting to be eaten. The rolls are very big and extremely good. I was once in and out of there in 20 minutes with a full, content belly. Love this place! Some recommendations: Gyoza-THE BOMB Noah’s(roll) First Love(roll) Fantasy Roll Megan’s Roll Harumi is a family favorite. My daughter wrote this review!

Literally just got done eating from here and had to leave a review! I ordered the eternal sunshine roll and the hot night roll. The eternal sunshine roll is a MUST! It’s very light tasting and delicious. I got the Hot Night because it’s a Cali roll with spicy tuna on top and my boyfriend likes California rolls and I thought he’d be into it. Honestly I’m not a big fan of California rolls so I wasn’t a huge fan, I ate it because I didn’t want to waste it lol. It wasn’t bad though. He got the beef teriyaki plate. I would’ve taken a picture but he dug into it really quickly so I didn’t but the presentation was on point. He also got gyoza with his plate and it was sooo good. Also the service was very good. We were never ignored and the server was really nice! I can’t wait to come back next time we’re in the area!

I’m gonna do something a little different with this review. I’m going to write this review in two parts. The first part is for Reno people and the second part is for all the rest. For Renoites, If you’ve come to this review don’t think about getting AYCE. When we went I hoped but knew it probably wasn’t going to be an option. So I was prepared for a bit of sticker shock. Also if you like the Americanized rolls that Reno is known for, you can get a few, but don’t. Go for the higher end sashimi. Go for the things you can’t get in every place in Reno, like sweet shrimp. Now the rest for everyone. There were some great sashimi bowls that were purchased. I went with three different orders of toro. All were meaty, buttery goodness. My wife got a few rolls and they were on the larger side, but not just filled with rice. All three of us sampled different items from each plate. I think for an a la carte place, the prices were reasonable for the quality and the amount of food you received. It was late lunch hour, so probably a little quieter than normal, and the service was good, and let us move at our own pace. Not over attentive and hovering. If I was visiting Tahoe from a distance I would gladly add them to my list of places to do.

3.5 stars Disclaimer: this review is purely for the Ramen and Udon. We did not order any sushi! Nabeyaki Udon: 5 stars! First of all, when they brought out this bowl, I thought it was a mistake because it looked like it was going to feed about four of us hah. This thing is super sized seriously! If I had known this, my husband and I would have just probably ordered this one item and call it a day! The broth is made well with lots of flavor and the udon, although not chewy like I would have preferred, was also good! This dish did not disappoint and I would come back for this if ever in Tahoe again. Tonkotsu Ramen: 2.5 stars! Once again, I am extremely picky with my ramen as OC and LA has extremely excellent ramen shops so this dish may not come across as awful to you as it was for me. The pickled vegetables they put in the bowl was not pickled but rather just blanched. The meat was overcooked and hard(all 3 pieces) and the broth needed more seasoning. Overall, a very one-dimensional dish in my opinion. Edamame: Free! 4 stars! Salted and heated and free like their hot tea!

We only ate here for lunch because hubby wanted to get out of SLT and eat in Zephyr Cove area. No one greeted us when we came in and we stood at the door forever before the sushi chef waved us to the table. We had the lunch bentos with chicken teriyaki, sushi, tonkatsu, and ebi tempura. We also had a dragon roll. The food in general was just barely acceptable and the rice was all wrong. Made with too much water. Won’t be back.
