Because i drive to san diego every other month or so, i usually stock up on all my asian ingredients, but when i do run out before my next trip and i really, really need something i come here or the other one on s. ave b. this place is a lot bigger than the other asian grocery store on ave b… they have a lot of noodles, sauces, vegetables, and meats. they have frozen items which is surprising since there’s a lot to choose from, but be aware of expiration dates… we bought char sui dumplings(chinese bbq pork), threw it in the freezer, tried to eat it the next week, only to find out it expired a month ago. =(besides food, they have a section for other random things like tools, birthday supplies, and the regular dollar store junk… just be aware of expiration dates… if it doesn’t have one, don’t buy it! =)

4 stars — only because there really isn’t anywhere else to go — and I’m a fan. I went to check out this place last week because I really wanted to make some phở, and I need noodles and aniseed. Found both, and my phở came out awesome. Yum. While I was shopping(mainly in the food aisle), I also found seasoning for sinagang and panang curry. Like the first, and previously only, post — that is three different cultural dishes: Vietnamese, Filipino and Thai. I will definitely visit this place for my main sauces and ingredients for my yummy asian dishes. It’s also pretty cheap. I didn’t even look at the freezers and meat section, but the vegetables were below par — so no. They have another aisle of canned food and sweets, and then another miscellaneous aisle with everything you didn’t realize you needed. The owners aren’t really sociable or approachable… so if you go, you may feel like you’re on your own. Have fun!

I love this store. It’s ghetto, but being Asian, this is a dream! Everything you could ever need to make any kind of Asian food can be found here. I visited here to get ingredients to make the following: mochiko chicken, chicken katsu, pancit, adobo, and phở. So if you’re keeping track, that’s Japanese, Filipino, and Vietnamese food. Wow! They also have regular stuff, meats, vegetables, and a $ 1.00 section. The meats are a little sketchy for me, I’d rather go elsewhere. But, I’ve bought vegetables and stuff because they’re good quality and very cheap.
