We came in for dinner about 2 weeks ago from a long day of being up in the snow. My son cayden was tired He is 6. we set down my son wanted to order chicken strips and gyoza. When our meal arrived the gyoza looked different than what he was used too there was also shrimp with the chicken. My son freaked out started yelling and screaming threw hinself down on the floor having a meltdown! my son is mild Autistic high functioning, Cindy the manager came over and calmed him down got on the floor with him talked to him. I explained to her what was going on After he calmed down she brought 2 toys to the table at the end of our meal she brought out all flavors of ice cream for him to try. She was the most caring and understanding person that night to our son, it made my Heart melt… Thankyou Cindy your the best!

LOVELOVELOVE this place :) Freshly created featured items NOT on the menu are GREATTTT! Our party took a chance and ordered them ALL and loved it :) Even enjoyed the ribs we weren’t even thinking of trying. It is nothing like anything I’ve ever had here in the desert. So great that we ordered one to go for my spouse at home. He didn’t miss out at all. Now he wants to go to Kimi Grill for BBQ ribs lol. What?! Yup for ribs. Yum yum

We originally found this place through TripAdvisor for its high ratings and solid reviews. We came here and found that it was nice enough for them to open on Valentine’s Day. Excellent service, good quality food. Great lunch deal! Bento box for $ 11.99 with large portions. 2 rolls for only $ 9.99. Did not expect such an awesome Japanese restaurant around Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best(if not the best) sushi places that I’ve ever been to. The sushi bar and dining room areas are spacious, immaculately clean and ornately decorated; the servers are efficient, attentive, and friendly; and most importantly of all, the food is amazing — everything is very tasty and perfectly prepared, and the portions are large. The Bento platter is almost enough for two(for $ 13.99). Some people may say it’s a little pricey, but I find the prices to be average for a sushi place, and the food quality and portions to be well above average.

The best sushi place hands down in he whole hi-desert. I grew up in palm desert and I still prefer this place over anything else. Great customer service fresh fish and great options to choose from. Cooked food is great and fresh tastes amazing.

The couple’s boat is the thing to get if you have a close friend or a significant other! The portion of meat on the couple’s boat is not that generous but the stuff included on the boat is vast. I did feel like they gave me a lot of vegetables but other than that the atmosphere is pretty good, the fact that it’s attached to a hotel means you’ll get a lot of loud tourists but it has that fancy restaurant feel.

My family and I come from San Francisco and I would like to say this place is surprisingly good. Everything is just right except the service is kind of slow. But once you are seated, you will not complaining about anything but too full when you get done.

The food is awesome! Prices are very good. Menu is much larger than posted here, bento, teriyaki, etc. I wish I was staying in town another night so I could eat here again.

Forget what you heard about the whole«sushi in the desert» thing. I’ve been coming here for years and have been nothing but satisfied and mostly impressed with the service, quality, presentation and all around vibe! Best sushi place in the high desert, hands down! May I remind you that Yucca Valley is but TWO hours away from the coast and its not like the fish is delivered in a hot truck — I mean, come on. That would be a serious violation and restaurants with ‘A’ grades usually practice HACCP avidly… ESPECIALLY when it comes to serving raw foods. The fish at Kimi Grill is very much fresh and because of the odd location for such a magnificent spot, the portions of fish are relatively generous. You can definitely cure ANYANDALL sushi cravings at this place! There are a few hiccups in service every now & then… Other than that, most servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. You’re always greeted with a loud hello and friendly smile every time you walk in the door and there’s a certain feel about the place that always makes you feel welcome. Be sure to keep an eye out on the hours — there have been times where I took a decent drive, only to find out they were closed(this was mainly during late lunch hours)! But that disappointment was eradicated as soon as I took my first delicious bite I swear the best places to eat are supposed«holes in the wall»…Kimi Grill is definitely one of those places! A place I hope continues to succeed and will be there for many more years to come!

Prices are much more reasonable especially on lunch. This place is the best sushi, love the atmosphere as well as the service. So glad to have this quality of sushi in the desert!

Kimi Grill is the best sushi is the high desert… that’s a fact. But its not the best sushi I’ve ever had or even close. To me Kimi Grill is a nice place to go when your craving sushi and don’t want to drive 3 hours to LA or SD. The restaurant is also nicely decorating in a comfortable setting. Cons: Its in a weird travel lodge??? Service is hit or miss and it has weird hours of operation. One time my husband and I waited outside for it to open for lunch? It also tends to get crowded. Overall, you can’t go wrong with Kimi Grill!

As I mentioned in the Aki Sushi review I did, in Yucca Valley it seems there’s two camps: those that love Kimi and those that love Aki. I love Kimi. First tip and I think they’re still doing this. If you go at lunchtime, everything’s cheaper. I had been keeping a list of my favorite sushi from this place, which I stupidly deleted. Last night we had three rolls and one appetizer. The appetizer, soft shell crab tempura was delicious. It was perfectly crispy and the flavorful of the crab and the tempura batter was great. It was a large portion for the cost. We also ordered the Night Fever Roll, the Hungry Roll, and the Baked Salmon roll. My favorite last night was the Baked Salmon roll. My least favorite was Night Fever. It wasn’t bad, but there was a smoky taste that wasn’t my favorite. The service is always great at Kimi. While raw fish in the desert still strikes me as a bit bizarre, Kimi has got that under control.
