Pretty good and affordable restaurant, and you can’t complain about the half-off drinks and special $ 4, $ 5, and $ 6 roll menu. I would have given 4 stars, except the deep-fried foods here(such as the tempura, katsu, etc) tend to be slightly over-fried, and the servers are bad about keeping the tables cleared — they’ll just let plates pile up even when they’ve been sitting there empty for 5 or 10 minutes. So overall, I would recommend this place, but I prefer Kimi Grill for sushi/Japanese food in the high desert — their food and service is top notch.

Great sushi and Japanese food in general. Service is always very quick and all of the servers are great. We have been here several times and never been disappointed. Great selection of rolls and half rolls. I especially enjoy their miso soup and salmon belly sushi…

Came here after a long(and great) day in Joshua Tree. I typically stay away from unknown sushi bars, especially in the desert, but there is not a lot of choices in the area and the Unilocal reviews were good. I had a soft shell crab roll, salmon and yellow tail sushi and vege udon. All items were not the best I have ever had, but considering the area, they were pretty damn good and I would definitely go back if I was in the area again. You can’t beat the bill either… damn reasonable prices!

I’ve been to just about every sushi restaurant from Palm Springs to La Quinta and Yucca Valley and Aki is THEBEST! Every time I come the staff are so friendly and helpful. They have a large dining area which I’ve seen can accommodate large groups. It is so clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. Their sushi is amazing. I can never get enough. I love their tempura rolls but everything is great. If you love sushi, you’ve got to come here. You won’t be disappointed. Wish I could give more stars.
