Straw Hat Pizza

So I go to place an order for a large specialty… I explain to the lady on the phone, I would like a large works pizza and we have a 25% off coupon. I also explained to her that we would like to redeem my wife’s free bread twists that straw hat sent her via email as a birthday gift. The lady said that we couldn’t do that. It wasn’t allowed. The birthday twists says you must purchase something to redeem them. So we were purchasing a large pizza, a personal pizza and a soda. Needless to say, I canceled my order and called another local pizza place who gladly accepted multiple coupons! Sad to see that straw hat is willing to lose customers over $ 2.59 pieces of bread.

I remember coming here and they would give out awards as kids for being the best reader. My favorite childhood school memory.

The wait. SUBSTANTIAL. The beer warm and sour like either an old stale keg or the lines are horribly dirty. I am hoping it’s an old keg. Pretty understaffed for a Friday night and this could be why we have been waiting an HOUR for a large pizza. It’s busy but it’s pizza. Probably never coming back to this place and that’s too bad. Closest pizza to our house but we could have driven to Sacramento and had pizza by now. And beer that is drinkable. Can’t wait for this to close so something else can try their luck. The entertainment is the poorly trained (but hard working) staff try and match the pizza to the table (hint the # on the table should match the # on the order tag).
The topper was our pizza was boxed up to go and probably sitting on the shelf. The temperature was Luke warm. Pizza was good but over priced and substandard service made for a pretty awful experience. Hopefully the beer doesn’t give me horrible stomach issues. One more sidenote the pizza appeared to be cut by a drunken robot with mostly unequal size slices.

We came in on a Sunday evening, the place is located near Tower Mart area on Bogue Road. I rarely go out to this area, but there was plenty of parking and easy to find Straw Hat! Excellent customer service, the girls working were so friendly and polite, really nice attitude and seemed like a great work atmosphere. We ordered a Large Chicken Bacon Ranch original crust and a Medium The Works on pan crust! No problems taking my coupons at all and with great savings! We didn’t order salads, but were allowed to get Ranch and Jalapenos, their salad bar was clean and fully stocked. Very good to see and next time I would definitely order a salad because it’s All you can Eat, lots of great toppings too!
The place is big/​open space, Clean, lots of seating/​tables, a few booths, a few games for the kids and tons of TV’s all around. I liked the décor with all the pictures and sports stuff around, very cool! It was such a nice first impression and even their menu has really great choices. I saw a Lemon pizza, yeah would love to try that…
Our pizzas came and they tasted great, I liked everything about both of of them, great sauce, great toppings, great crust. It was good to try both original and pan so I can compare the differences. Overall great pizza, great place with great customer service. There were several families eating nearby as well, so it’s a great place to bring families, kids, and groups. I noticed they do offer delivery. One thing I would like to try is their lunch specials, they had low prices and great deals. Definitely plan on coming back ;)

The staff at Straw Hat Pizza are so kind! We walked in 5 minutes after they closed and they made us a fresh pie when they could have turned us away. The pizza is delicious! We love having Straw Hat in our backyard.

Thank you Straw Hat for not only having the best gluten free pizza around but for FINALLY being the only place that sells it in a size besides small! !! Also thanks to Brian for hooking a girl up on her salad at the very end of the night after you had everything put away.

My favorite pizza place in town! Love that it’s on the south side of town because we don’t get many restaurants.
I always come here for the lunch deal (Monday — Friday) because you can get unlimited salad bar plus a personal pizza, breadsticks, hot hat, or a sandwich with a drink for $ 6.99.
Their salad bar is my favorite and has a lot more options than most places. The staff is also always very nice. And it’s always clean inside.

Straw hat pizza is what a California pizza place should be. I recommend it to anyone from out of state. I would give the pizza a 4 star rating just because of how conservatively I rate things but factoring in the excellent staff at this location it is 5 star all the way. Kudos to you all.
Excellent salad bar and they have wine, beer and a few ciders. The chicken wings are actually good and they have several favors. On special request some of the staff will make you a batch of Franks red hot AND Tapatio drenched wings which are highly recommended.

The pizza is good, but it comes at a cost. There are so many stupid people who come here! There are kids running around, always bumping into people. And the stupid parents can’t control them! And then there are people who are yelling constantly at others. It annoying! I swear these people are stupider than the people at Walmart. And then there are the people that leave big messes on tables. I can go on and on.
If you come here, take it to go please.

When I think of straw hat or round table I think I quality, however straw hat proved me wrong. I just picked up a medium pizza, paid with my hard earned money, full price because they never offer coupons or specials. I requested thin crust, got regular crust. As I open the box to check my pizza it’s missing 1 topping (no problem we All mess up) I brought to front counter girls attention, not only she had an attitude, she goes in the back, puts the topping in small cup, didn’t even wash her hands, just hands it to me. When I got home, pizza was absolutely disgustng. all I am saying is if you going to charge at least give semi– premium product.

My favorite pizza place in town. Talked to the owner and they use all fresh, high quality and local ingredients! No wonder everything tastes better & healthier. Love their Aloha Chicken and come almost weekly for their lunch special. Salad bar is amazing

Very sad considering the potential of this place. I frequently come here due to convince, The location is good on south side of Yuba, but there is a lot about this place that says – «you would be better off w/​a Digorno frozen pizza» The salad bar is anything but great, the employees are lame, and waiting 30 – 45 minutes for a single pizza is normal. They often section off ½ the seating area, cramming everyone into a smaller area. They have T.V.‘s on the booths, witch would be cool but there 9 times outta 10 on some crap channel you don’t want to watch and can’t hear because there is no volume control. (these should be used for sports games, or news w/​update tickers.) Years of coming here I’m never excited or impressed. The pricing is anything but great, especially taking everything into consideration…

This was our first time ordering here, we ordered 12 wing app, 6 Mohave and 6 spicy chili and a dish pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onion and extra cheese. The estimated delivery time was an hour plus. Well it arrived in half that time piping hot! So far so good! However, the wings… Not so much. The sauce was tasty, but the consistency of the chicken was nasty, almost like biting into raw chicken, the skin wasn’t crispy and VERY oily. We had also asked for only the drums and were willing to pay extra, no idea if we did as we never got an itemized check. So they aren’t known for wings… Now the pizza… It looked VERY well done when we opened the box, but from the first bite to the last was very tasty. Although the slices weren’t cut all the way through, the bottom was golden brown, although the top looked very brown, it still tasted great. My review would be so much better we hadn’t wasted the money on the apps and the details about the pizza were a bit more polished.

the food is ways really good but when management has only 2 people working on a Friday summer afternoon don’t expect things to be 100% the guy cooking and the girl at the register with 10 people in line I feel for them. thats alot of pressure for the food industry.

I absolutely love this place! It’s close to my work and where I live. Staff is friendly and place is clean. Their salad bar is awesome! They also provide gluten-​free and vegan pizzas. All their pizzas are yummy and made the way you like it. My family and I eat here often.

I adore Straw Hat. In this area, Straw Hat and Pizza Guys are the best in my opinion. The most amazing thing on the menu is their Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. This is what I order every time I come here and it never disappoints.
I’ve only been inside the actual restaurant a couple of times — seems like your typical pizza joint. I generally get my pizza to go.

I really enjoy their pizza, and they have a decent salad bar selection. The garlic twists are always loaded and they have an awesome arcade area.

Hubby and I ordered two calzones here a few weeks back. We decided on this place since it is walking distance from our house. Anyway, the calzones DID NOT taste like calzones at all. I can’t exactly describe what was wrong with it, but it just didn’t taste good.
Haven’t tasted their pizzas yet and I doubt I ever will.

Just ordered 2 king pizza for the game go packers go :)Ordered a king pep tonight and was not good this time the crust was hard and the pizza looked and tasted like it had be siting out for a while!!!:(not happy with this order

I’ve been wishing for Straw Hat to come back ever since it left the building across from Casa Lupe — which is now part of Yuba City Toyota. I can’t even remember how many years ago that was.
Whenever I want pizza, I crave this place! I swear, it’s something about the cheese. It’s just… SO GOOD. I could scrape the cheese off the pizza and only eat that, and I’d be one very happy gal.
Don’t be afraid of trying their hot hats, too!
