Carlito’s Mexican Restaurant

Absolutely love this place! Service is prompt and they are very polite and friendly. We will definitely be back!

This is the worst restaurant I’ve gone to in Yuba City. I went on a Sunday and it was fairly empty. They sat us quickly but the waitress took over 25 minutes to take our order. After she finally took our order, the food had not arrived after 40 minutes. We simply walked out. They didn’t even offer to refill our cups of water. I do not recommend this place to anybody.

Came here because everyone says how great the food is. For me it was good but not great. First up I heard how large the portions are, it’s a mind trick its regular sized portions on large plates with fillers (I.e. Salsa, onions, lettuce, tomato). Well played Carlitos. So the food was good it had good kick but not quite authentic. More authentic than Casa Lupe less authentic than some of the others around town.
Service is slow plain and simple. Not rude or absolutely horrendous but slow. Overall I wouldn’t pick this place out for myself but I wouldn’t complain if it’s the restaurant a friend chose for dinner.

This is a great restaurant with great food, drinks and service. It is great to sit outside.

After hearing the rave about it, we finally decided to come have dinner here for my father in-​laws birthday. The place has a very welcoming, modern atmosphere. Upon entering the restaurant, it has a nice waiting section so people don’t have to wait out in the cold. Then it proceeds to the bar and finally the dining area.
Given that it was Friday night, it was quite packed hence leading to wait like any busy restaurant on a Friday night. We were seated after about 20 – 25 minutes. Upon seating, we were given salsa and chips. The salsa is amazing. It’s very flavorful and has a kick to it. Our drinks came very quickly as well. We started browsing the menu and I was overwhelmed by so many good looking options. I am not a vegetarian but i mostly prefer to eat vegetarian food. So, I ordered a veggie burrito. As placing the ordered, I emphasized on the veggies I would like in my burrito. Everyone else ordered their food. We waited another 30 minutes. Which we also didn’t mind given that it was busy. So, our food arrives and the portions are indeed huge. My veggie burrito was gigantic. So I dug in from one side and got only rice. I dug another whole and it was yet again rice. So I decided to go through the whole burrito just to see if there were any veggies– and to my surprise zero. It was just rice, beans with little sour cream and guac and nothing else in it. This is my reason for giving 3 stars. I got out server’s attention and asked them to remove it. They offered to make me a new one however I refused because at that point I didn’t want to wait another 30 mins. I ended up having my husband’s food– which btw was delicious. As we were all done, the server brought me another burrito to go. that was a nice gesture. He also didn’t charge us for the burrito.
Perhaps, I will try it again and my experience
might be little bit better.

Have reviewed Carlito’s previously and against our better judgement, decided to go with some friends who had not been there before. Unfortunately, this place has only gotten worse.
I’ll be quick with this review. Service was hasty and not very welcoming. Sat down and waited a good 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and asked if we wanted drinks. Another couple of minutes until they brought out the obligatory chips and salsa. And this is where our visit to Carlito’s ended. Upon diggin’ into our bowl of chips, we were welcomed with what were obviously recycled chips.
Done. Walked. Won’t be back.

We had dinner here on Monday, September 7 at about 5 pm. We were given a less than enthusiastic greeting and seated. It appeared we were the first to be seated in the dining room. The bar seemed busy. Chips and salsa arrived quickly and our drink order was taken. The chips and salsa were tasty. The drink order was delivered fairly quickly and our food order was taken.
I used the women’s restroom to wash my hands. It looked like the restroom had not been cleaned for at least a few days. The trash can was overflowing with paper towels and there was trash strewn throughout.
When I returned to the table, I noticed the restaurant had started to fill up. We finished the chips and salsa and drinks. The food arrived after a lengthy wait. We asked for two more beverages and more chips and salsa. We began eating our food. It tasted okay, but was lukewarm. Our drinks arrived about five minutes AFTER we had finished our meal, and forget about the refill on chips and salsa. No apologies were made by the server.
Carlito’s is located in a beautiful restaurant, but it is not being maintained or cleaned very well. The food is average. The margaritas are really good but pricey. The service is terrible. I will never go back and will not recommend Carlito’s to my family and friends.

So we went there today after much fanfare and ravings by our friends… but I don’t get it. If you’ve been to Casa Ramos in Lincoln and thereabouts, I’m pretty sure a former employee/​cook just opened this place… but missed the mark a bit. The food was plentiful and good enough, but nothing to get too excited about. Big portions, but not a whole lot of taste.
The single biggest complaint was the service, which wasn’t terrible and the people were very nice… when you could find someone. After being seated, one person brought chips and took beverage orders. The next person took our full order. Then another person brought the food out. Had to flag someone down for refills, then asked for flour tortillas twice… got corn tortillas… twice. Not the end of the world doomsday stuff, but several small missteps made the whole experience rather regretful. We are simple diners, not headache customers from hell and we tip well. Our expectations aren’t super high and we are pretty damn forgiving especially when you see people are hustling and things just happen, we get that. Not so much the case here. The hostess was very nice though.
I was partial to Casa Lupe before, but now I know I’ll never stray! Sorry Carlito’s, we tried!

My mom and I stopped in today to try this new place out. We walked in right after the lunch rush so it was fairly empty, we were greeted by the hostess & sat promptly. A lady came by and dropped off chips and salsa, and also took our drink orders which she returned with shortly after. The salsa is absolutely delicious spicy but doesn’t burn your mouth to the point where you can’t enjoy it oh and the chips were hot & fresh not stale like some other places!
A gentleman approached and took our orders I decided to take his advice and order the lugo burrito (that might not be the correct name but close enough) and my mom got a two item combo. My son was accompanying us who is one years old… He was quite loud so I asked the waiter if we could move outside because we didn’t want to disrupt the two other tables that were in the restaurant he said it was totally fine & we didn’t need to relocate, that made me feel relieved and not so awkward it’s always nice when you feel welcome especially when you have a child with you.
The food came out it was nothing short of delicious the portions are big the flavor is definitely there and on point! My mom said her chili relano was probably the best she’s ever had. My burrito was also super delicious and fresh. With tip out total was under $ 30 which I think is more than fair for what we received.
I think this restaurant is the perfect addition to the Yuba City restaurant line up. That the atmosphere is really nice, the food is delicious, and the customer service is awesome! This will definitely be our new go to spot when we are craving Mexican!

Never again. I was warned about survice issues, but this venue gas has always had issues because of the layout. I was seated promptly. Had a drink quickly, and my lunch quickly. The problems began when the poblano pepper dish I ordered was so unbelievably hot (, poblano pepper is pretty mild,) 10 minutes later i finally got a servers art… After another guest hsd been waiting to be seated and finally approached the kitchen for help. I got some sour cream, but eventually my lunch was inedible. Won’t be back.
