Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill

One of the worse meals I have ever had.
When we walked in the door we were hit in the face with the smell or odor of smoke, nasty fake smoke smell.
We ordered our food and everything we wanted was consider and extra on the menu.
Paid the extra.
One of people at my table ordered salad. The lettuce was old and dry.
The dressing was horrible.
Another persons food was just bad tasting.
I ordered the pulled pork; it was nasty!!!
Prices were high and the smell in the place is enough to make you sick.
I will never eat here again or suggest it to anyone.
There are hundreds of places to eat in the area… DON’T GO HERE!!!

I went here on Saturday March 12^th, 2016. I went with my mom Elizabeth and her friend Lauren. When we got there, there was a wait, but it was only 10 minutes. We got 2 Dr. Pepper’s and 1 Diet Coke. The soft drinks tasted good. Elizabeth and I ordered a plate of 16 smoked wings as did Lauren. The smoked wings are absolutely amazing! If you come here, don’t skip out on these if you love BBQ Wings! I got the create your own combo. I choose Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, and ¼ BBQ Chicken. It automatically came with 2 slices of garlic bread, which I made a delicious pulled pork sandwich out of. Then as my 2 sides I choose BBQ Baked Beans and a Baked Potato, both were amazing. Elizabeth got 16 of their Smoked Wings and ate some of my dinner plate. Those Smoked Wings are just so good, you have to try them for yourself. Lauren got a Pulled Pork Staked Baked Potato with Homemade Brunswick Stew. She loves that meal so much, she gets that exact meal every time we come to Smokey Bones. We finished the meal with 2 desserts. Hot Bag O’ Donuts and Leaning a Tower Of Chocolate Cake. The chocolate cake was a decent chocolate cake but nothing special. The donuts with raspberry and even chocolate sauce on them were very delicious, and I must say that they were the best donuts I have ever eaten. I give this restaurant 5 stars! And I highly recommend you come eat here!

Pass. Server was friendly and came around enough. Food took a while and was ok, except you realized you paid for a soggy bun turkey burger. Chicken was ok, broccoli was drenched in butter but the mash potatoes came though. Won’t be back unless we’re kidnapped and brought there or beer is dirt cheap.
PASS!

Smokey Bones is a great place to grab food and a drink after working the afternoon shift. It is the only place around with a full menu that extends into the latter hours of the evening. I always like the food, but the truth is I would come here just for the service. Between Jess behind the bar and Betsy’s hospitality I was well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Went there this last Sunday and had a great time. The food was great and the service by my waitress Jen was awesome, it really made for a great experience.

For a place thats mainly serving meats, I am less than satisfied. I ordered ribs and did not eat them. At all. They came out burnt and extremely tough. Also, my drink was a basic mix and made poorly. I wont go back.

I went to smokey bones on Thursday night and ordered the pulled pork platter and it was delicious. My server claudia was fantastic! Ask for her if you go in!

Came in with the family on a Friday afternoon. Very quick and friendly service. The food was tasty and brought out in a reasonable time. Tried the pulled pork, ribs, salmon and cheeseburger; all good. Again, awesome staff and the donuts made the meal!

Last time we will ever be at Smokey Bones. Hunsband’s sandwich was bread cheese and some pickles. The waitress sucked too. Looked at our empty beer bottles 3 times. We only got more beer because we had to ask.

Unfortunately, not very good tonight. We waited for fifteen minutes to be seated (we were a party of four adults and two small kids) and watched party after party of people who came after us get seated. After asking a few servers, we were told that our table was being prepared in the party section. The party section was in the way back of the restaurant while everyone else sat in the front. There were dirty tables around us in the party section. We asked why we couldn’t be seated in the front with the rest of the patrons, because we were rightly afraid of being forgotten. No one had approached us for several minutes. They finally agreed to let us sit at one of the many available tables in the front. Our food was fine, but our poor children had the worst macaroni and cheese we’d ever tasted. Barely edible. We were afraid the cheese had gone bad. When we sent it back, we were told it was made with garlic. But I love garlic and that was not what we tasted. The apple sauce side dish came in those travel packets you buy at the grocery store. The manager came by to apologize but was pretty defensive about our experience. He did offer us a free dessert but by then, the kids really needed to be home. It is too bad. Our first experience last year had been delicious and problem-​free.

needed to take my cousin out to dinner while I was visiting and she chose Smokey Bones!
I ordered just a burger and fries… and she ordered some combination plate with pulled pork and turkey and rice and veggies. We also ordered the cornbread. Everything was just ok. No biggie. Her meat did look a tad dry but they had an array of sauces on the table to choose from. Nothing I need to visit again when I come to town.
The service was outstanding though and I love the fact that you can pay at the table. That was so flippin awesome!!!

Nope, won’t be back. Meal was comped as it should have been. Ordered ribeye received prime rib cause my server was took busy socializing. The establishment was filthy. And to top it off my mac and cheese had a hair baked into the cheese. Yep I was done at that point.

Great chain restaurant. I am a guy who enjoys ribs and they have always had consistently good ones. I’d avoid weekends and go during the weekday when it is less busy.

The food was absolutely splendid. My server, Claudia was incredibly polite and has a great knowledge of fine wines. Whomever the manager is was also a very pleasant spirit to be around.

Food is good but the experience is made by the service. Sit at the bar and the service is some of the best ever. Ciana is always friendly and bubbly!

A little busy but not bad for a Saturday night. Kitchen was a little on the slow side, but that is normal here.
I got the St Louis Ribs combo and wifey the Baby Backs. The sausage that seems to only be available in the combo is awesome. I think I would get that by itself if I could.
As usual, a nice dinner with great food. And if you register a Bones card they email some good coupons!

One of those cool local BBQ places with great food and courteous staff. They even tolerate my mates whom finds it not proper to tip.

We went to Smokey Bones and had dinner with friends, we haven’t seen in a while…
To start, the staff at the door, was very friendly and welcoming.
After being seated, the server took our drink orders;
my boyfriend and I ordered Blue Moon, it was on tap and flat tasting…
My friend ordered a blueberry cocktail, which came in a large drink cup instead of a cocktail glass (as shown) and according to her, it tasted cheap! She ordered a watermelon cocktail thereafter and disliked that as well! She had her drink replaced with Sprite in the end and gave up on their bartender, altogether.
Food;
I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which is Pork or Turkey, BBQ sauce, and cheese on bread, it came with fries. My boyfriend ordered a build your own burger that came with beans and coleslaw.
Mine was satisfying, and I survived…
HOWEVER! My boyfriend got SICK! He was up all night with an ill stomach and nearly missed work the next morning, due to lingering aches and lack of sleep.
We basically paid to get sick… thank you!

So I’d like to preface I generally try to stay away from chains. I like the charm and freshness of local flavors. This was my final night in the Youngstown area and truthfully I was just too tired to explore.
I started off with a mojito. It was a long day and needed something to wind down. It had to be one of the worst mojitos I’ve ever had. It tasted like seltzer water with limes. I never complain about a cocktail, but I made an exception for this. I was then greeted by the manager telling me they did increase the Rum, but they follow a strict formula and so on. In response, their formula is terrible and I would not recommend their mojito to anybody.
So now onto my meal. I got the Angus Smokehouse ½ lb Burger with Kettle Chips and Mac n Cheese. This was my dinner so don’t judge on the quantity of food! The burger was mediocre and unmemorable. I’ve had much better and I’ve had much worse. The kettle chips were nothing like I’ve had before. They were potato slices covered in some sort of flour mixture and deep fried. They weren’t bad, just not what I was expecting as a kettle chip. I was expecting something closer to what you would get at a state fair. I’d pass on them if I were to dine here again. Now for the review of the Mac N Cheese. It was by far the star of the night. I was warned that they go heavy on the garlic, but I’ve heard it all before so I wasn’t worried. Well, it was so good and packed full of garlic flavor! While I had it paired with a burger, I spent a good ten minutes trying to figure out what I should have gone with instead that would have been a better complement.
Because my service was good and the Mac n Cheese was memorable, I give three stars. Burger and lame mojito each cost a star.
