Went to the bluffs a few times over the last few weeks and found the atmosphere got worse each time — the food was good and the bartenders were great — Michelle is great — but one constant that was always there that was a huge turn off was that the staff was allowed to drink there /don’t get me wrong — I have no issue with it until they get drunk and act obnoxiously. They acted like they owned the place and my comfort level fell. I was here on business /pleasure and after my last time at the bar I won’t be eating any time soon. «Rick» an employee from the bluff was drunk, flirting with my wife and down right had hygiene issues and I will never order food again as he is a cook. I would go back for the drinks — nice pour great service but would skip the food — and if «Rick«is there — it will be a short visit Hope it «cleans«up Happy spring

Food is great. Drinks made correctly and tasty. Service was A+. Good vibe. Played today’s hit music. It’s January after a storm and they have a decent amount of people in here. Couldn’t find anything wrong. Relaxing and fun.

My husband and I are from the Midwest and have always wanted to visit Maine. Now thag we’re living in Upstate New York we decided to make the trip with out 20 month old son last summer. It was an incredible stay! The location could not be better and we enjoyed out entire experience at both te hotel and the restaurant. Being within walking distance from all of the shops, restaurants and enterainment was also great. We’re even coming back this year with our now 2 children and their grandparents!

My husband and I got married at the Union Bluff this past August, 29th, and I honestly can’t say enough about what an absolutely incredible experience it was from start to finish! Both with the venue as well as the onsite planner, Darlene, who exceeded our expectations in every way. Darlene was extremely reliable, professional, consultative, laid back, fun and helpful every single step of the way — which was so key for us. She provided great planning sheets, tips, vendor recommendations(if needed), ideas about the layout, and she hosted a «mock reception» for couples as part of the tasting so you could get a feel for the reception room in action — which was super helpful. When we met Darlene there was no doubt in our minds that she and her staff would knock the details out of the park and boy did they ever! The day of the wedding, everything was perfect. I honestly looked for something to be off and every detail from welcome bag delivery, to napkins, to signature cocktail signs, to the favors setup, the candles, etc. was all set up perfectly. During the clean up after the reception, Darlene and her staff collected all of the items from the big day(guest book, left over napkins, favors, items guests left behind, etc). and they even packed us two extra entrees to take home as newlyweds since we didn’t eat that much during the night of! What an awesome touch that was. Key question to ask yourself when picking your wedding venue: how buttoned up is the staff and who be the«day-of coordinator» managing all of the vendors and every little detail the day of the wedding? — Again, I can tell you this was one of the main reasons we chose the Bluff. Aside from an absolutely gorgeous venue. Darlene absolutely crushed it We looked at several venues within an hour of Boston, and the Union Bluff hit all of the key areas for us which included: — A beautiful coastal New England venue that had all amenities onsite — An outdoor ceremony spot facing the ocean — A reception room large enough for 175 guests — Great menu and food options — Plenty of onsite hotel rooms with surrounding motels for guest stay options — Public beach, an arcade across the street, central in a cute downtown area — Hotel bar that you can rent out for late night food and drinks — Valet parking — Golf courses near by for group golf outing — Great local vendors(flowers, hair/make up, deserts, etc.) — Best of all: Darlene and her staff! To summarize the points above, what was most important to us in picking a venue was to find a fun/beautiful place in New England on the water, that we could bring all guests to for a getaway weekend, and the Union Bluff exceeded all expectations. All of our guests absolutely loved the venue and the area! There was something for everyone there, and it was a great way to bring families and new friends together. It was also great that no one had to drive or worry about getting from point A to point B once you were there. My husband and I wish we could do it all over again! It seriously was the weekend of our lives!

We had a very nice stay. There was a beautiful view from our room. The pub downstairs had great food and an impressive bar. We enjoyed walking through the town, playing at the arcade and grabbing some breakfast at the local diner. We would go back again.

We went on a Thursday night for dinner waited about 10 mins to sit down and were served right away. We shared the turkey Blt with fries and onion rings. The food was really great and the service was too. Glad the tourists are mostly gone home for the fall. Nice to eat out again without waiting forever to be seated. Great onion strips and real fries. Tons of turkey on the sandwich. Good price too. Love daily specials.

This is a review for my experience in the restaurant. The service was excellent. We had a large party of 16 and our waitress Hailey handled us so perfectly. She was so sweet, always making sure we had enough drinks, answering questions with the menu, and finding out for us if she didn’t know. We are a loud family that likes to have fun, and Haley served us with poise and a sense of humor. Our food came out promptly and, with the exception of one, perfectly. Thank you for your awesome service, Hailey! The crab cake appetizers and calamari were delicious, as was the somewhat unusual selection on the charcuterie board. I had the duck for dinner and thought it was fabulous, seasoned wonderfully, tender, and not greasy at all.

I recently patroned the Union Bluff Grill with a party of 11 to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Because of a misunderstanding when making the reservation, we did not understand that there would not be a kids’ menu available to my 4 year old daughter. Because the Union Bluff Pub is literally attached to the Union Grill and shares the same kitchen and chef as the pub, I asked the waitress to ask the chef 3 different times if they could make something kid-friendly for my little girl and was incredulous that they would make no exception to their fancier dining menu despite that a kids’ menu was offered out of the very same kitchen. My daughter spent hours visibly out of her element in an all-adult restaurant and ate nothing but the free bread while we could see kids from where we were sitting eating off a kid-friendly menu from the same kitchen(try explaining that to a hungry 4 year old!). Wanting to offer the benefit of the doubt to the resaurant, I contacted the manager by email who clarified that indeed the restaurants share the same kitchen and chef but«if they were to make an exception for me, they’d have to do it for everyone.” — a jarring response given our table spent over $ 500 in food and drinks and a young child/guest left their restaurant without any dinner. To the restaurant, I hope that if another child has the misfortune of ending up in your restaurant by accident as mine did, that you *would* make an exception, that you *would* show some empathy to the parents, some compassion to a hungry young child, and some appreciation for a family that chooses to drop a ton of money in your establishment. You have made it clear that those basic kindesses are not a precedent you want to set. Repugnant!

I love the Bluff… This place has been here forever… I had clam chowder and my DH and I shared a chicken wrap that was very good… It’s all about the ambiance of the place we have been coming here forever and love it all the more! Walked back to our campground just to enjoy the wonderful weather in Maine!

This is my fiancé’s and my tradition. Every year for our anniversary we go to York, stay in the hotel room with the jaccuzzi and eat at the restaurant. The room is always clean, the staff is always friendly, and the food is always cooked well. We’ve eaten both in the dining room and pub. Both are delicious but I LOOOVE getting the baked haddock from the dining room. My mouth is seriously watering thinking of that right now! You can’t beat the beautiful ocean views as well! I miss the Union Bluff and can’t wait for my next anniversary.

We just had lunch there today. We were not greeted well by the server. We had our grandson who is 3 with us. We took a table in the corner there was a total of 5 people with us. He would not let us put a small table of 2 with the table of 4 together. The place was not full. So we crammed 5 people into the table of 4. I said no one is going to want to sit at the table of 2 now because we were so close. He said yeah I know. We ordered our food the steamed clams were cold. It came out with our meal. It was our appetizer. The hamburgers were well done they were suppose to be medium and my fish tacos were on a stale tortilla. It was the same fish that I ordered our grandson on the children’s menu. I got 1 fried finger fish on each taco. Our grandson got 4. Never will go back.

FIRSTIMPRESSIONS: Great location overlooking the shoreline– it sits overlooking a small inlet portion of the harbor; every room on the sea-facing side has a deck! Additional bonuses include refrigerator and an easy-to-find ice dispenser down the hall. The room lay out was a little tight… odd, really. The entrance basically feels like taking a little maze to your room, but hey, whatev’s. Our stay included a full dinner AND breakfast in the dining room, which provided both a gas fireplace and view of the seaside. The dinner was overall pretty great– we got a lobster sandwich and the crispy-skin duck breast. The duck was excellent, but the pasta and veggies were sub-par; there’s not a lot that my partner won’t eat, and she wouldn’t eat it. Both the wedge salad and the lobster sandwich were great! The lobster was some of the sweetest and most succulent I’d ever had. Desert was included & the flour-less chocolate cake was over the top decadent. Then for breakfast– Blackstone eggs benedict was yummy, but not great. The freshly squeezed o.j. is a must-order. The bacon-flavored bloody mary sounded a lot more intriguing, but in reality wasn’t distinctive. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Overall, we’d come back but they need to do a bit of a paint job in the rooms… just a little bit of a boring color palette. BONUS: The bar downstairs has a billiards table! Woot woot!

Let me just say, we booked this room in the Annex because it offered free WIFI. When we got there, we found the wifi to be completely ineffective and we had no access to the internet or our phones for the entire trip. I needed to be able to do work on this vacation and ended up not being able to, which I’m sure, reflected poorly on me at work. If their WIFI doesn’t work or isn’t strong enough, they need to either FIXIT or stop listing it as an amenity. Aside from that, the hotel itself was beautiful and extremely clean. The view was great. The restaurant downstairs had great food(although pricey). The pub had a great lobster roll and the sweet potato fries were great. The dining room has the best clam chowder I ever had. I will say the dining room has VERY limited seating so be sure to reserve in season. Service was slow(In Sept) so I can only imagine the service time during busy season. As a side note, this place seemed to be for the«older crowd» there was no families in any of the lobbies, balconies, front areas… I don’t think this is a place I would recommend to families with small children or teens. We went off after Labor Day though so I could be wrong. BTW, The annex had no room service and no elevators if that matters to you. *******UPDATE: I messaged Union Bluff about our dissatisfaction on Facebook. They said they were aware of Wifi issues and were looking into and apologize for any inconvenience.

We stayed here for a wedding — our room was TINY — we had full size matress for the two of us and the room was still $ 250 a night. Our room smelt like cigarettes and was damp. We also got chicken tenders, a pizza and a lobster roll from the pub. Very disappointed. The lobster roll was $ 20 and was soggy and there were two pieces of lobster in it. We saw another man complaining about his lobster roll to the staff and they were fighting with him about it. Ridiculous. Our chicken tenders tasted like fish and the pizza was basically a pita bread with a little sauce on it… there is one elevator that is very slow and there was a sign in it that said«don’t use our ice for the ALS challenge.» …what! Anyway we won’t be going back.

Brought out of town friends and we were very disappointed. View was great, but that’s about it. Had one waitress for the patio, so she never came back to check on us. Took 30 minutes to get a soda, my burger was okay, had better. Friend ordered wedge salad with chicken and got a few strips of chicken(not $ 6 extra worth for chicken), another got steak with mashed potatoes, the potatoes were ice cold. It also took 45 minutes to get our food. Not a complete waste going there. We did get great service at the restaurant bar and the drinks were amazing.

We booked a night here at the Union Bluff, it is located across the street from short beach here in York. We checked in quickly. Parking was complimentary valet. The parking is indeed a big problem here that is why they have valet for the summer months. The valet attendants are very nice! The problem is they keep Your keys, so if you need anything from your car you have to go to them first. There are three buildings, the main, the motel, the meeting house. We were booked in the motel. It is three stories all rooms have an ixia view shared deck. The room clean. Two queen beds, decent bathrooms with great«h2o spa» soaps and lotions. They smell soo good lol… Coffee maker with a variety of coffees and teas. I would definyy come back to this place

Ate in the restaurant and the bar while staying at the hotel during off-season. Wasn’t too impressed by the bar– waitress(who was also the bartender) was very rushed and service was slow, the room was dark, and the bar was crowded with people drinking, watching the game, and playing pool both during the day and at night. The food was decent– nothing to write home about, but definitely not bad. The restaurant, however, was wonderful. We were part of a big party with two people with dietary issues(of which I was one), and they were very attentive to our needs. The food was attractively served, well-made, and totally delicious– not a single complaint from anyone– and the service was great. A nice place to spend time as well, since it’s right on the ocean, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. Would definitely come back if I’m ever in town.
