I love to stop here and just get a morning coffee and something fresh baked from the oven… Saturday my hubby and I got coffee and a big chocolate chip fresh baked cookie. We sat outside at their cute little tables like old folks… ty for a great beginning of a very nice day. I needed a smile and got it at Clara’s…

I would have been in total cupcake heaven, but they only had two types of cupcakes available. Perhaps because it was considered«off season» at York Beach. Anyway, the chocolate cupcake was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised. Would have loved more of a variety, but then again, I would have eaten them all and that’s not good for my waist:) Cute place and coffee was good too.

I wish I could of had more then just one cupcake from here. Unfortunately there were only chocolate ones out. I thought I would see trays of cupcakes but there were maybe 10 total scattered behind the counter amongst other stuff like cookies and random pastries. It was definitely fresh with chocolate cake with peanut butter chocolate frosting. An interesting combination but good for me. The cake was dense with dark chocolate flavor. I got a cookie on the side but it was dry and cracked after one bite. Being winter and the location not getting much business on a beach I don’t think they are outputting their full potential for obvious reasons. I think the cupcake was overpriced, around $ 3 but from being an avid cupcake eater I expect to see these prices most of the time at a place with«cupcakes» in the name. If this place were to go hardcore with tons of varieties out, I have a feeling I would like more flavors. Considering its off season for them, an OK for now.

My friend knew I loved cupcakes and when I came to visit her in York, she took me here. There were only four kinds of cupcakes(with some different frosting/cupcake combinations) and several pastry options. Although the lemon ones looked delicious, I decided to try the chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting(with some drizzled chocolate). Now, the peanut butter frosting deserves like six stars because it was delicious, creamy, and had a perfect peanut buttery flavor. However, when I got to the cake part, something was very off. I might have said something, but we walked out the door at that point. The cake didn’t taste sweet at all and I can’t quite put my finger on what it tasted like, so I had to throw the rest away. I’m hoping that something happened to that batch and that wasn’t normal. The restaurant was a little dark, the prices were a bit much(but it is the beach), and the staff were friendly. I’d go back if I was in the area, but would try a different flavor next time, perhaps that lemon cupcake.
