We arrived after 5, which is closing, but had called ahead. The owner gave us directions and said our cabin would be open. When we arrived at dusk, we found that the parking for the cabin is around a hairpin turn and on a downgrade. We managed to back in, but it was tight. We found the cabin to be cold with the only heat being a heat pump unit in the loft bedroom. We ran it as high as we could all night to warm the cabin, but it remained too cold to shower. The wood stove downstairs, the only source of heat, had no directions and no kindling. The logs provided were wet and green and never would catch fire. We had our own fire starting sticks, but they would not remedy that situtation. We were going to watch a DVD, but the player, which is the only form of entertainment, was broken. Deciding to give up and go to bed, I encountered a German cockroach on the sink where I was washing my face. A dead spider was on the floor. We decided to can our plans for a canoe trip and cancel the remainder of our reservation. I have never stayed in a place so poorly equipped! This is way, way beyond rustic.

Awesome service, friendly and showed tremendous integrity. We changed our plans after arriving and did not expect any sort of refund, however was immediately given one without asking. Bill and staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and wants during our three night stay. I will be back.

Please be careful if you come here. A «kid» who lives in a nearby motel came in to buy beer while I was in Wild Bill’s and stole my new Rayban sunglasses, which I had left on the counter while I went to the bathroom. A Wild Bill employee saw him do it, and did nothing to stop it. I had to do a long kayak trip on the Buffalo River in the middle of the day with no sunglasses. After the kayak trip, I went back to Wild Bill’s. Once I threatened to call the police, «Wild Bill» called the kid’s parents. About ten minutes later, the kid’s mother brought my sunglasses back to Wild Bill’s. I will never go back here. I felt like the cashier was in cahoots with the kid, and that Wild Bill had a lot more knowledge than he was letting on. And why is he selling beer to a kid? The experience left a very bad impression.

My dad did most of the arranging for our trip. My dad is a moderately experienced paddler and I’m pretty much inexperienced. Everyone was super friendly and spent quality time answering questions and addressing concerns. Unfortunately we experienced a big spill on the river in an area they did warn us about and prepared us for. So we are thankful for the advise given and also when we finally found the road, someone was able to contact them to bring us our car and they arrived pretty promptly and were very kind in helping us try to recover what was lost and help us recover in general! Very kind and warm people. Highly recommended! We also spent one night in the Inn, which was a decent place to stay for the night for the price. Oh, and they have an awesome bbq sandwich with coleslaw! Yum-o!

No complaints. Our epuipment was in great shape. And we really liked the driver who dropped us off at the river. He knew a lot about the area and he provided us with a lot of great suggestions for the rest of our trip. We would definitely return and we would definitely recommend.
