I’m not sure if ownership has changed, however they need to find their identity. Food menu is severely lacking. OWN a handful of phenomenal dishes. Your cheese plate must feature more than three — and beechers flagship as one? C’mon. That better be one of six or I would opt for an Alaska flight. Beet salad should consist primarily of beets. Marg was solid. Wine list left a bit to be desired for a wine town.

Ordered the roasted beet salad without walnuts and a pork belly slider. Paired that with a glass of champagne in advance of a Cabaret show for the holidays. My husband ordered the lamb sliders, a gin and tonic, followed by the Bake Breaker Cocktail. Received the drinks quickly, but the food took a while, especially for sliders and a salad. This place is generally pretty quiet, but there were about 25 people(maybe), most of whom were also going to the Cabaret. The staff couldn’t keep up. As for the meal, I know pork belly has some fat to it, but this was almost inedible. The bun and dressing were fine. The lamb sliders, which tasted just like beef, were better. Despite asking for no walnuts, they appeared on the plate. If I were fatally allergic, I wouldn’t have been able to eat the salad. They need to be diligent about those things. Otherwise, the salad tasted fine and is something I would order again. So, to sum it up, I give the food a B-, the service a C, and the drinks a B+. I’d like to see this place do well, but they need to be able to serve guests in a timely fashion and kick their food up a notch in order to get people in the door.

Service here is very below standard. They are inattentive and not very respectful. I had hoped to put this place in the rotation for when family comes to visit but I will not be taking that chance with based on how this visit went.

Friendly but slow service. Had to get my own salt and pepper for poorly seasoned muttoney lamb burger. Salad was very good. Chick pea salad. Fries were greasy and not tasting of truffles as promised. The last time I ate here 6 months ago was much better so I might try again. Oh they don’t take Amex, a must for business travelers.

Interesting place. It’s trying to be a bit too upscale for Yakima, I think, but the food and presentation is decent. Wedge salad was a bit boring without bacon, but we both enjoyed our entrées. My husband had the smoked pork tenderloin and I had the lamb Bolognese which did not disappoint. Yummy desserts too. It was really slow for a Friday however which worries me. I have to add that our server, while efficient and friendly, was trying a bit too hard to be funny. The jokes aren’t necessary, let the food speak for itself.

Came in on a Saturday evening — 4⁄11 for dinner. dining room was empty save for 2 table when we arrived — but we were seated right next to a table with a loud-mouthed drunk and another couple. Why? After we were nearly finished, they left and we got some quiet enjoyment for what was left of our dinner time. Not a good effort by the staff. My wife had a chicken and fettuccine dish that was fairly ordinary. I had the lamb bolognese — that was nothing but chunks of ground lamb browned and combined with a hearty tomato sauce. Far from a bolognese. Service was indifferent — the lounge was packed, but that should not detract from service in the dining room. We had to ask for the dessert menu; the server just assumed we wouldn’t be ordering dessert given we didn’t finish out entrees. Must be a clean plate enforcement zone. Dining room traffic did not pick up while we were there — high prices, not well executed dishes, and less than good service having an effect?

My husband and I enjoyed the dinner and beverages, but the dessert was very small and apple cake was dried out on the edges.

You can choose a quiet dining room or the not-so-quiet bar area. The food is delicious and imaginative, the wait staff are well-trained, and the wine list is very good.

It was my first time at here and i was pleasantly satisfied with the service and food. It was quiet because I went on a tuesday night. Hubby and I had the ribeye steak I like mine medium well done and his medium rare. Both steaks were cooked to our liking and seasoned very well. On the side of the steak was kale with delish gravy on top so good! Also pureed potatoes with leeks and bacon was heaven! I would recommend this restaurant and especially for date night with your special someone.

This place has really come into it’s own as it has ‘grown up’. Had a few bad experiences when they first opened but I now chalk that up to growing pains. Since I’ve had great experiences with excellent service, good food and decent value. A great place in Yakima and a must visit in the downtown.

Staff was super attentive and didn’t care that we took our time ordering, which is nice. The drinks are original and they aren’t stingy with the booze. Their old fashioned are great. I had the crab linguine and it was great. The sexy fries appetizer is huge, to big for an app, but delicious. We will be back often. Just wish they would go back to serving brunch on Sundays!

I really enjoyed this place. They got off to a good start by actually being open at 8pm — which you can’t apparently take for granted here(read: Barrel House, which is a complete fail). I had the oyster app– which was delicious– followed by the lamb burger, which was also great though a little over done(my fault for not requesting medium rare). They also have a nice wine list. Food came out quickly, service at the bar was great. I might not give it 5 stars in a city with more foodie competitors, but it’s definitely topping the list of my Yakima dining experiences so far.

Wasn’t overly impressed with this restaurant. Perhaps we will sit in the bar next time because it sounded way more vibrant in there. If you are looking for a more intimate experience, the dining room is spot on. Our waiter was very cordial and knowledgeable. We bought a bottle of the Gilbert Malbec which was ok, but not amazing. The food was just… eh. I ordered the scallops and the portion looked more like an appetizer than a main course. It was also $ 30! The scallops were small and there were only 3 of them. Although cooked well, the dish left me less than satisfied. My beau ordered what I think was a pasta primavera met Alfredo. It was so-so as well. I don’t mind paying good money for food, but for what we got, it was not worth the sticker price.

Food was good, not $ 40 a plate good. Dining area was noisy due to the bar. I really don’t need to hear the bar crowd and its music for the amount we paid. My steak was alright, my wife ordered a seafood plate that had a tiny piece of lobster buried under a sea of rice. We ordered side salads and it looked like two leaves of lettuce drowning in dressing. Best part of the meal was dessert. Odds of going back are rather low.

Good reviews on Unilocal so we gave it a go. Very good decision! Service was prompt but not pushy or clingy. We started with the Sexy Fries, which were good, but too large of a portion, I think. They could charge the same price for half the amount and it would still be a good deal. My wife had the prosciutto wrapped chicken, which was outstanding, and I had the rib eye prepared two ways, which I loved. A nice glass of red wine and we were happy campers. All the desserts sounded great but we had no room left. It would be a nice end to the evening to stop by for dessert and coffee or port. We be back!

Phenomenal. Serious. We dined at the small bar near the front entrance. I guess there’s more seating in the rear of the restaurant but we didn’t venture back there to take a look. The restaurant is pretty cool with the copper tiled ceiling and original block and mortar walls. It’s fairly dark inside. I had to take my glasses off to read the menu. The bartender who took care of us did an outstanding job and served MONSTROUS sized drinks. You lack for nothing at this place. Starter bread & butter was good. Nothing special. We both ordered prosciutto wrapped chicken and it was by far the best chicken breast I’ve ever had. Only bitch would be that it took about 35 minutes to come out but we weren’t in a hurry. Outstanding. One of the best places to eat in Yakima. Enjoy!

Wow, everything we had here was impressively presented and delicious, all without breaking the bank. This might be $$$ for Yakima, but a place like this would definitely have higher prices in Seattle or SF. I recommend everything we had: — Sexy fries — Lamb burger — Gnocchi(BEST I’ve ever had!) –Butterscotch banana crème brûlée(BLEWMYMIND… one of my favorite restaurant desserts EVER) What an unexpected gem! I will definitely be back next time I’m in Yakima!

Oh man what happened? I came back here so excited and we ordered the same as last time but no it was not the same as last time. But first lets talk about what I really did NOT enjoy. The live music. They have an acoustic night which is just too loud and the music whiny and depressing. If I go out on a Friday night I do NOT want to go back to the hotel room to kill myself. No one is listening and this just doesn’t work nor honestly does anyone care so stick to Pandora and be kind to your patrons eh? When she took a break and they put the cool Pandora music on it was like the sun came out. Then sadly she came back. Fortunately we were behind her so my ears were not blitzed. Its just not the right idea for this place and its killing the vibe and its too damn loud for a dinner engagement. Nuf said. On another bad note, the food has suffered dramatically since my last visit. Now mind you we ordered the exact same dishes from before. However the ravioli is no longer vibrant green nor was it a dinner portion(measly is a good description for the portion). We paid $ 18 for what(and yes I feel cheated)? Also the lamb burger was way over cooked and appears to be bought pre-made. I ordered medium and got gray meat and I noticed the patty was perfectly round with perfectly flat proportional sides is a dead give away. Also it lacked flavor or texture being kinda weird. I didnt know lamb were made from Styrofoam… They probably lost the talent in the kitchen by being too cheap to pay for the great cook they had instead investing in the lousy music in the bar. Shame that because your priorities are not right. The only bright spot was the dessert. 5 North I gave you your first good review and you totally fucked me on the second visit. Be glad I didn’t give you one or two stars but our server was great and it wouldn’t be fair to her. You need to figure things out because you are on a downward spiral with quality and ambiance. I am not sure I will come back. You certainly don’t deserve my business at the moment. PS my fries were old and cold. That should never happen. You are being cheap, careless or both. Either way you didnt care about my food apparently.

This space has apparently changed hands a few times, but its current incarnation has been open since May ’11. With the restaurant adjacent to Gilbert Cellars, this little area has some pretty swanky establishments in these two venues. 5 North is fairly big. In the front & streetside section of the restaurant you have the bar area. When I went here, it was loud, and there was a game on the TV. So, this struck me as a decent place to go if you wanted to chill. I however was here for dinner. My friend and I had a table in the back. The accommodations and setting were nice back here, but there are no windows, so that lends to a cave-like feel. The staff were very nice, and helpful as I waited. The menu is fairly extensive, and it looks like there is push for items which are local and in season — both very good things. We had a decent meal here. It wasn’t drop to your feet good, and something I’d go out of my way for, but it’s definitely on my list of dining options when in the Palm Springs of Washington.
