Hot Set Hair Studio

Nope, 10 stars! I really miss these ladies… phenomenal people and sooooo talented… I can not believe it has taken me this long to sit down and write this Unilocal review. Ugh, I feel terrible about that. And I went to them for like 10+ years!!! I think I posted it on their Facebook page instead. (Uh DUH. And that’s what work stress does to a mind…) Anyway, if you do not want to travel into Boston and want a top of the line style and color, LOOK NO FURTHER. Honest. I live in the Austin area now and have found a Paul Mitchell salon ~ not the same. I’m being patient. You can tell they were trained the same way. Truly awesome people too. But my color keeps coming out dark and it makes me sad :(So I went on the internet and started to reminisce about how awesome the Hot Set ladies were. It was like visiting girlfriends every 6 – 8 weeks who knew exactly how to do your hair the way you liked it. My stylist was Dee. But honestly, they work so closely together, it really does not matter who does your hair there. Just go there. You will not be disappointed.

Today was my first visit to Hot Set Studios and I will definitely be back — already scheduled another appointment!
I was referred here by a girlfriend who has a killer cut & color so naturally I wasted no time getting in with her stylist. Danielle N was awesome! She looked at the reference photos I had, showed me some color swatches & shared some of her thoughts and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome!
The atmosphere is welcoming, bright and hip and everyone is friendly and accommodating. The clientele was predominantly women but there were some men, so don’t be shy. I don’t want to gush, but if you are looking for a fabulous haircut and the perfect color, look no further!

Always amazing service from my girls at Hot Set. These women know what they are doing 100%. I used to go to D’Iorios and they constantly messed up my hair so I went to a long-​time friend at Hot Set who I KNEW would do a great job. Consistently. I should have switched salons YEARS AGO!!! The professionalism is just unreal at Hot Set. The stylists know their product, fresh trends, and they are always doing the exact cut/​style you tell them to do. D is the best hairstylist I have ever had! I have had some extremely rude, unprofessional, and disgraceful «hair stylists» before but D is a diamond in the rough. She always gives me a great cut and always takes her time! She always gives me great suggestions when I am in the mood to switch things up. She hears your concerns and questions then speaks with high intelligence and education. You always get an amazing, pretty, end result with D! Prices are very reasonable and cannot be beat. Pam, the owner, is so sweet and has really set the bar extremely high for the other salons in the area. There is no comparison, Hot Set is THE place to go for all your hair needs, including products. I have been going to this salon for over 10 years now. I absolutely love the atmosphere and the stylists that work here! They take the time to sit with you and discuss colors/​cuts so that the end product is just what you wanted!
It’s a fun, hip, energetic place that is always welcoming. The stylists are always keeping up with the latest haircuts/​styles and their expertise «shines» through. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone!

The staff were very friendly and I appreciated their hard work in staying late to finish my hair, gave me some free swag at the end, etc., but overall I am pretty disappointed with my hair color. The cut is fine. As far as color goes, I have dark brown hair and wanted to go for an emma stone red (not orange). Unfortunately my hair turned out eastern european looking with a harsh dark red sheen (friends: «I didn’t want to say anything but yeah, you look like a Russian mom!» I’m a 25 year old grad student, not a mom.) On top of the Eastern European red, there are some clashing copper-​orange streaky highlights (i.e.streaky = ~1cm centimeter wide strips spaced ~1 inch apart). I feel bad writing this review because the girls worked hard and everything, I just kind of wish I’d had the more experienced colorist instead (she did advise on color mixing when she walked by and was asked though, so maybe she would not have been any better!). After 1 wash my hair is fading to brown with orange streaks. Yuck. It looks unprofessional like I did it out of the box — not like a $ 140 cut and color! Did NOT expect it to cost this much either.

I went for a haircut here based on Unilocal reviews, and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a haircut with D or Danielle. She is a sweet natured girl who listens to what you want. I have thick, wavy to curly hair. She cut it beautifully. In my eyes, a good haircut is one that does not frizz my hair and that does not require too much styling.

Been going to Danielle for over a year now and Love her! I never had a consistent salon or stylist before Danielle. I now know it was because I hadn’t found the right one! I am never rushed and she always picks up personal coversation right where we left off last visit! She will offer new ideas but never pushes. The staff is always very excited about the most recent shows they’ve attend and techniques they have learned. Danielle once experimented a new style on me using a special curling iron just because I had the time and she wanted to share… I loved it! All in all, fun upbeat staff with plenty of experience. Most importantly they are staying «hip» and offer all the latest in hair color, cut and care!

I am known by my friends as a gypsy when it comes to hair salons. I never really settled into one salon throughout the years, until I found Paul Thomas, now known as Hot Set Hair studio. The ladies here are amazing. They are all trained in the latest styles and coloring techniques, which I found out the hard way, is SUPER important. I have finally matured and settled into a salon. I still have my gypsy ways about me, and will bounce between the stylists here. Mostly because I am last minute nellie when making my appointments. My two favorites are Jeannie and Danielle. Jeannie is a spectacular colorist and does a great job with the cut. Danielle is a sassy young thing that is not afraid to do her thing when you say «Chop it» and will find the perfect color for you.
All in all, everyone here is amazingly nice, and welcoming. But most importantly VERY Talented!
