I grew up in Worcester and have easily been to Coney’s upwards of 100 times in my life. It’s as good now as it was 25 years ago. They haven’t changed one bit, and frankly(no pun intended) I hope they never do. If you are someone who enjoys hotdogs on any level and happen upon the Worcester area, do yourself a favor and stop by this place. Order two up and two with [insert favorite hotdog condiment(s) here], two chocolate milks or a Polar soda of your choosing and thank me later. If hotdogs aren’t your thing, don’t sleep on the cheeseburgers or grilled cheeses either. The ‘dogs are small, so be prepared to get 6 – 8 if you’re really hungry, but they’re cheap so it won’t break the bank. And don’t forget to leave your mark… if you can find space!

This is one of those iconic local spots that that Food Network dude with the burnt pink skin and heinous bleach blonde hair would love to whore around as his«discovery.» Man, I hate that guy. If it’s your first time at Coney Island or you’re from out of town and you get order-shy around harsh accents with zero patience, you can’t go wrong ordering a «two up.» That will get you two dogs with chili, onions and mustard. One of their giant pickles will feed four people and their mac n’ cheese served in a coffee mug is delightful. Wash it all down Massachusetts-style with an RC Cola and you’ve become a part of a nearly 100-year tradition of badass hot dogs. The ambiance is exactly what it ought to be: no frills and wooden booths littered with a century of customers carving their names on the walls and tables. I only wish I had patronized this place more in my youth when I was more ready, willing and able to routinely destroy my body. TIP: Closed on Tuesdays!

Old school place with a lunch counter and no frills. Cheap hot dogs, limited menu, and everything was just«ok.» Try the pickles.

Simply a local legend! Its a great hot dog joint with all the charm of a place out of the 50’s. Love this place for what it is! A great place for quick and tasty food and drinks!

Quick and good fresh food. Simple but good. Reminds me of the early 80’s. «Keep it simple«should be stamped on the door as you enter. The everything hot dog is my favorite, not sure what’s in the stuff they put on the dogs but it’s good. Place looks like i went back in a time machine to 1989 and I was at a high school hang out with writing all over the booths. I am assuming it’s a staple place to go in the area. Good food and it’s pretty cheap too

I’m visiting my boyfriend from Texas and he said he’s always wanted to try this place out. We walked into a really laid back and old school ambiance and the food was the same. He got two dogs with ‘the works’ and I got one chili cheese dog and a side of baked beans. The hot dogs were amazing and really hit the spot. The beans weren’t anything special and also not cooked all the way but that’s okay. We really wanted to try the western Mac n cheese but unfortunately they were out– an hour before closing so that’s understandable. The service was fast and friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

1st visit to GCIL with my boyfriend’s Dad today, who talked about this place from his youth. He forced me to eat 3 dogs & I gladly & quickly did! Delicious! My fave was with the meat sauce. A little pricey & the accept CASHONLY, but worth it for a step back in time for a great memory & meal! FYI: THEYARECLOSEDONTUESDAY’S!

I had seen this restaurant several times and I had never gone there. In fact when I went there for the first time a few months ago it was the first time I had had a hot dog in 14 years(I’m 23, so I’ve been out of the hot dog game for a while). Needless to say it was amazing, it really justifies the hype and longevity of this institution.

I used to eat here a lot growing up in the 80’s. Recently visited my hometown of Worcester and made sure I came back here. Just as I had remembered. Got 4 Coney Island Dogs and a chocolate milk. Great taste and value for the money. What I appreciated now then before was the fact they serve local potato chips and soda with their food, which for locals is a win win situation. Not to mention the Table Talk Pies for dessert. We ate inside and got the whole experience which I think is a must. The building is historic and you can feel it as you sit in the old booths. Five stars still is not enough. I will be back time and time again.

The Worcester Institution I love George’s. The quintessential classic hot dog joint. The business has been open for 100 years. A 100 years!!! It will never close. I live in Rhode Island and grew up with hot wieners. George’s dog is similar with a small hot dog with steamed bun with a meat sauce. However, I have to tell you, I prefer George’s. The sauce is more of a chili and doesn’t taste as greasy. Delicious Tip: Walk in the back of the restaurant and there’s a bar where you can a couple of beers with your dogs. What’s a better combo, right? My other favorite part about George’s is the sign. Is anything cooler than the old school joints with a big lit up sign like the place was supplanted from Las Vegas in the 1950’s. I could go for George’s dog right now. Remember CASHONLY Awesome spot Thanks

Certainly historic. Seems like a fight reminiscent of «the Warriors» is going to break out at any moment either inside or outside. If you can distract yourself from carving your name into the booth long enough, you’ll find the hot dogs are pretty damn good. Steamed buns, just enough toppings(onions, mustard, chili) and the hot dog itself of course, very tasty. I ate one pretty quickly and there was a window of opportunity to order another but I opted to eat chips. I now regret that decision. I would like another hot dog. Order at least two.

The place is definitely unique with a lot of character, I just wasn’t thrilled with the food. The coney hot dogs were interesting but nothing to write home about. The dog itself was tiny and the chili didn’t have much flavor. It’s more of a meat sauce rather than call it chili. The cheeseburger was pretty good, but again nothing special. We also had chips and soda but it looks like they also have a good beer selection. Bottom line is that I would eat here again, it’s like a lovable dive joint with cheap eats. In my humble opinion it’s just not as tasty as I would have expected from all the rave reviews reviews on Unilocal

Like walking into a 1950s Scorsese movie set… this is the real deal old school throwback! The booths are so tiny it’s obvious how much bigger Americans are now in comparison to 60 yrs ago– who fits in these things beside little kids anyway?! The menu is straightforward as is the ordering style & you can view the assembly line beyond the glass. All beef hotdogs grilled. Don’t think fancy add ons but just simple homemade chili(no beans), chopped white onions, yellow mustard, green relish or ketchup on a fresh buttery roll. Bags of chips. Service w a smile. That’s it. My grilled cheese was OK. Service is friendly. A real loyal fan base. The bar adjacent to the kitchen is simple NE style– think red & white Formica & Schlitz… what a trip!
