Good food but odd décor. I was a little concerned waking in, but the food was good. They had cider on tap which I prefer. Had the fried plate. Liked the oyster and clam strips, but I’m honestly not a fan of fried shrimp. My hubby ate those.

The view is good. I think it is a tourist place. Next time I will order a lobster roll and /or fried clams. I got the already picked lobster.

Yes, this place screams«tourist trap» all over it. But that’s OK. The food is very good. We pulled off the road on impulse and had a terrific lunch. I had clam chowder, and it was perfect. I like my chowder with a creamy, buttery broth chock full of potatoes, onion and, of course, clams. Lots of clams. This chowder was among the best I have had. My husband had the fried haddock sandwich and cleaned his plate. We were both very happy. We chose to share a blueberry cobbler. It tasted great but was little on the soupy side. I would have liked a better balance between crust and filling. All in all we enjoyed our lunch and highly recommend this«tourist trap.»

Excellent restaurant-looks like tourist trap off route 1 in Wiscasett but isn’t. Lobster roll is $ 21 but worth it-whole lobster. Some items seen a bit pricey but generally moderately priced.

I got the lobster and clams and I was very disappointed. Not what I expected after all these great reviews. For the first 5 minutes our server was great… Then things went downhill. She gave us more time to look at the menu which ended up being 10 – 15 minutes before she returned. Then I asked for a coke and a water when she took our order and she brought the salads and appetizers out before I even got the drinks. She forgot my mother-in-law’s salad dressing and didn’t return to the table until everyone was done eating so she didn’t even get to eat her salad until everyone else was done and just waiting for the bill. It wasn’t busy at all and it seemed like the other waitresses were on point so I don’t know what happened to us… Maybe it was an off day. We learned the specials from listening to the waitress at the table behind us. The souvenir area is neat, however I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone passing through.

Ok meal. Everything is fried and I had a hard time finding a light option that wasn’t salad. The food was good but I wish there was a grilled fish sandwich option. Fried clams were tasty but we totally got overcharged on them. Nice views, tons of parking, friendly staff. Wouldn’t be racing to return but the experience was ok.

We had a group of 7 and were seated right away. The décor is fun, and I loved the osprey cam! Cool lobster trap rocking chairs, too. Anyhow, beyond the décor the food was phenomenal! Everyone was raving about their meals. I am an extremely picky eater, and I got the seafood pizza on a whim. Not only was the seafood part delicious, the pizza dough was some of the best I’ve ever tasted! I hoped the seafood would be good, but had no expectations for the crust and I was wowed. My fiancé’s lobster mac and cheese was great too! Even my cousin raved about the cheeseburger, and there’s generally nothing exciting about cheeseburgers. Beyond that, the prices were great. If we are ever up in Maine again, we will definitely stop by.

Very touristy. nesting bird out front is neat, however the restaurant leaves something to be desired. There was something floating in my drink and the fish chowder wasn’t very tasty and there were bones in the soup. The décor needs to be updated especially the odd area for the children!

If you are driving up to Coastal Maine this is a must stop on the way. Get that lobster appetite going and get a lobster roll an oyster sandwich and some beer. Outdoor deck, water view and kitschy décor inside. Don’t park under the Osprey nest unless you want a white spattered car.

I love the food here I can not find a place in Massachusetts that does the same job as The Taste of Maine for shrimp scampi, so whenever I am in Maine and by them I always stop in. The freshest seafood love it.

The best dinner I ate. Came from NY and well come again. The lobster and 10 oz steak was delicious your not going to taste that from NY. The prices are good and affordable unlike some places. And the waiter Jamie was very nice and checked on us to make sure everything was alright. Thanks Jamie see you next time…

This place is restaurant, bar and bit of a tourist trap. The reputation for the food and ambiance is well deserved. Food is typical for the area, they are willing to make adjustments to the menu and staff do a competent job. The view of the water is lovely and they have a birds next on a pole in the parking lot. There is a camera relaying images from a birds nest to the lobby. At the other end of the lobby is an old ice box with glassware in it. The glassware is glowing and a small sign explains it be because of the uranium in it! The experience is… different! If you are up for some standard fare, scenic vista and a few thrills, definitely include this place on your list to check out.

Stopped by for lunch while out exploring this area of Maine. Sat out on the deck and had a beautiful and peaceful view of the water. The fish chowder and the shrimp cocktail appetizers were great. The chowder was creamy, flavorful and full of fish. The shrimp were clearly very fresh and were quite flavorful. For meals, we had a clam strip roll and fried scallop plate. We’re from New England and have had some great seafood– and this seafood was some of the best. For dessert, a shared homemade bread pudding was just the thing to end our meal. If you’re in the area, you can’t go wrong at The Taste of Maine!

Taste of Maine was a family staple restaurant over 20 years ago when we would take our annual road trips up the coast. We remember the price of 3 lobsters for $ 19.99 back in the day. And now over 20 years later, the prices have doubled to 3 lobsters for $ 39.99. Still not a bad price for Maine steamed lobsters for tourists. The lobster was freshly steamed and you can even go for the lazy version where you do not need to get your hands dirty. The stuffed mushrooms was also a very good dish that we had for appetizers as there was plenty of seafood in it and chopped mushrooms. I do miss the giant blow up crab they use to have that sits on top of the building. Also, I vaguely remember the lobster gift shop of any lobster memorabilia you can imagine. Though it sounds like the reviews keep saying that it is a tourist trap… It’s a tourist trap that brings back good family memories on summer vacations. It’s also a plus that the view overlooks a bay where there are many bird sightings. I’ll come back as long as it’s still standing and whenever we’re in Maine.
