Veterinary Cancer Group of San Fernando Valley

I was referred to Veterinary Cancer Group for by are regular veterinarian after our dog had a malignant tumor removed and further tests were recommended. For convenience I went to the Woodland Hills location. The facility is top notch, very professional and clean. My experience with Dr. Rosenberg couldn’t have been better. She clearly explained the diagnosis and options for treatment. She has a much better bedside manner than the majority of doctors for humans I have encountered.
Hopefully you won’t need their services, but if you have a pet diagnosed with cancer you’ll be glad the Veterinary Cancer Group is there to help you.

I have nothing good to say about the Veterinary Cancer Group of San Fernando Valley. I am directing this to Reuben at Unilocal & to VCG. This review better remain in place. First, Reuben! My beloved dog was a patient at this facility, I would not give them one star, but you can’t write if a star is not placed. Reuben, don’t talk where you don’t know what transpired! I expect my review to be placed back on Unilocal.I tried emailing you, but it does not allow you to email. My beloved dog was carelessly taken care of by the Veterinary Cancer Group of San Fernando Valley, & things this facility did were unprofessional, as well as, ACCESS. I spent thousands of dollars between ACCESS & this facility, not counting the other specialist that work out of ACCESS. My dog was loving, cute, sweet, loyal, a family member & companion. She was fourteen years old! She was put through major surgery for a spay, removing all her mammary glands, a so called growth in her vaginal wall. I question Dr. Norris on all of this. Dr. Rosenberg, Dr. Ganz, the ACCESS Emergency doctor on the early morning when I had to rush my girl in because of her distress & suffering. She developed major problems from her third chemo, which I decided was her last. I think she was having problems right along. She could not walk, «she did not have old dog vestibular» and this was starting way before the third treatment. She was showing signs of bruising on the outside, I could go on! I am appalled that a Cushing’s test was not done before surgery! a biopsy was not done before surgery! According to Dr. Norris she had stage 1 malignant cancer which was suppose to be non-​invasive, and the growth in her vaginal wall was benign, «another vet checked and said there was no growth in her vaginal wall. What this facility put my dog through, & the bed side manner of the technicians at the cancer group. They practically throw the dog at you, & where is the doctor to get feed back on her progress, where were the supplements? No, I would not have done the surgery! No, I would not have done the chemotheraphy! No, I would never ever go back to these veterinarians! My poor dog/​family member had enlarged organs, heart, liver, adrenal glands. I took her to another vet, they did tests & x-​rays. I was shown her x-​rays, her cancer was in her lungs, all her organs were so enlarged, & the liver removes toxins from the body, she couldn’t get rid of the toxins or chemo with all that she had wrong. I believe surgery caused the cancer to spread. I always heard that when cancer is detected & air hits it there is no hope because it does spread. I feel there was careless diagnosis, prognosis and I would never put a loving companion through this treatment. I will have to live with what I did to my beloved friend. I can not apologize enough to her. Financially I will be paying for this for some time. The vet made me think she would be okay after surgery. I feel they prey on peoples emotions because we love our pets. The veterinarians don’t know themselves what is wrong with an animal. Very poor diagnosis results for a large facility. She had five or six doctors look at her and it was low potassium from Lasix, and old dog vestibular, and keep on doing the chemo, but a different drug. My girl was in bad shape. why put a dog through this. She had a terrible reaction from chemo. Her surgery was June 18, 2014, she went downhill, the surgery was not good. The chemo just broke her body down. She would have been better off not having the surgery, but she would not have been able to go to the bathroom. She was dying when I was taking her to an appointment at another vet, & to ease her death I had her put to sleep. October 15, 2014. She was a great dog & friend & her too cute ways are so missed. I am saying this to anyone considering using ACCESS, VCG or any veterinarian. Check them & their backgrounds carefully. Get the whole picture. I feel the specialist working from ACCESS are just trying to build up a business at the expense of our pets. Seek a veterinarian who is honest & will level with you, and understand your financial situation & your heart & not play on your emotions & take money from you when there is nothing that can be done, and to ruin an animals life and make them suffer when there is no hope & just to extend your pets life for a few months. What good is it to put an animal through this hell! These doctors need to get real, be honest and level with the owners. Don’t give people false hope. Our pets are a victim of this terrible disease. My dog was an experiment, and I am so sorry this happened to her. I question cancer treatment for an animal who can’t voice how it feels about having this done. To let a defenseless animal go thru this. I was so Blessed and Lucky to have been graced with such a sweet little dog. Do what is right for them, not you! Get a second and third opinion. Don’t let them suffer. If a dog needs drugs for nausea, and other side effects they are not living a good life
