Tried this spot for dinner last night with my family. It was our first time and the service that SAMUEL gave us was exceptional and BYRON our chef was great and did really cool tricks. Will be coming back soon. Obama roll was delicious and so was the salmon sushi. Thanks guys! :)

I came here for my birthday and it was a great experience. We came for happy hour and order a good amount of sushi. We had the Obama, Philadelphia, California, and 911 roll. All were very good especially the Obama roll, probably my new favorite now. Prices were great, they brought out ice cream and sang happy bday. Great time and will come back again.

The fish is old and smelly, the prices are low so theres that… If you want decent sushi stay away, if you’re broke and can’t afford sushi right now stay away still lol

Sushi is good, grill is good, price is average, full bar sports bar. One problem, ventilation sucks!!! Sitting there in a room full of smoke, and I am a smoker lol. Eyes tear up sometimes from all of grill smoke so recommend to bring goggles :) — little tip they do have valet parking but you can park it yourself at same parking for free

I was craving TeppanYaki and this was the first place I could think of. I have tried the food at the Santa Barbara location which I find food to be better there. Got here on a Friday around 5:30, it was quite busy considering how early it was, but it is the bets time to go especially if you don’t have a reservation. They also have a happy hour Teppan until 6:00. Our server did a great job, he was very attentive. I ended up getting the happy hour option(steak), it was cooked perfectly(medium rare). The sauce they give you, it tasted a bit different then what I am use to. I wasn’t a huge fan of the soup, I would just want plain miso soup without the onions. As far as the salad, I am always a fan of. Just keep in mind that the free ice cream only comes with those that order off the regular priced menu(not the happy hour), which unfortunately we didn’t know and ordered… it was $ 3.50… a bit over priced. I was surprised to see how much tea was… all it is a tea bag and water. Overall, it was okay, however, great service and it fixed my craving for Teppan.

Gave Something’s Fishy another shot and will have to say my experience was noticeably improved. Stuck with the basics I normally get… yellowtail, salmon and albacore. They were all excellent. I appreciated the response from the owner, keep it going guys!

Not a bad experience, actually… What’s good: — Ambiance is relaxed. Not modern and slightly ‘old school’. — We ordered the food cooked on Teppan grills. Our chef cooked my scallops and steak perfectly. Fried rice and veggies were all delicious too. — Sushi was delicious too. I didn’t have any issues with the fish quality. It’s not 5 star quality, but it’s pretty good. — Servers are attentive. Water refilled timely, checks delivered quickly etc. — The chef will put on a simple show for you while cooking. — Place is clean. What’s not so good: — Prices. They do have lunch specials for a lower price, but dinner is pretty expensive on the Teppan grills. Sushi prices are right about at par with other local sushi places. — Parking is an issue. They have some parking on the side of the building and up on a hill, but come close to dinner time and you’ll find yourself parkingless! I just can’t put my finger on it, but Something’s Fishy is missing a «WOW» factor. It’s just there. Not sure how better to explain it. Fix that and maybe it will draw more folks. Maybe the décor needs to be redone?

I will take Something’s Fishy over Benihana any day of the week. This has been one of my go to places ever since I can remember. The New York Steak & Shrimp is definitely the way to go here, The food although it is amazing, It can be improved a little bit and they could chill a bit on the veggies and add more Steak and Shrimp, the reason I came. That is why they get a 4 star not a 5 star. The chefs are fun and entertaining and very talkative to you, they love to have a good time with you so join in. Although I have never been to the sushi side of the restaurant, I know they will bring sushi over to you. So sit down at the tables then you can have anything they offer. If you come during their lunch hour you can save a good chunk of change and get almost the same amount of food as dinner, just make sure you come before 3:00pm. Normally I would give you a out the door price for your meals but, here it varies so much between what you order. Lets just say its not going to be a cheap date. TIP — They do have a happy hour nightly between 8:00 and 11:00pm, sushi, beer and well drink are all on the menu then. TIP — it does get very loud here with all the big parties and kids, so if you want it a bit quieter, ask for the table in the back corner. The walls over there will drown out at least a little bit of the noise.

This place has something incredible called, «The Ganja Roll»…it’s(chopped) spicy tuna(and really NOT too«spicy»…since I can’t really handle very spicy foods), rolled in a Japanese mint leaf… then dipped in Tempura batter… and quick-fried. What makes this roll so special and truly delicious is the SAUCE they put on it! There’s two different kinds of sauces… and they make it taste absolutely AMAZING!!! Ask for Ichi, at the sushi bar! He’s really awesome… and makes the Ganja Roll PERFECTLY!!! It’s become my FAVORITE roll there!!!

I’m not sure about the teppan side of this restaurant, but I will never go back here for sushi. I was meeting a friend and I suggested Ichiban Kan a few miles down the road, but my buddy insisted on this place. ½ price sushi and it was still over priced for what you get. Sushi tasted and smelled a bit off. I also ordered a Baked Scallop Cali roll and the pieces of scallops were not the typical«marshmallow-sized» bits of scallop, but looked more like corn-beef hash. Also, I’m not 100% sure it was from them, but I was sick to my stomach the next day.

Fun location with some fun cooking entertainment! I was here about 2 weeks ago for my roommates birthday with her dad and his girlfriend. We got seated immediately, and there was a little wait while one of the chefs freed up to perform the mini show. This place reminds me of a much better Benihana’s. Better service and although the food is still average, the nice chefs and environment made everything seem much much better. Everyone has to choose their meal, either as a plate or «a la carte». The meal gives you much for variety and can even be shared between 2 people as it comes out to a ton! I had the chicken and shrimp with fried rice and it came out delicious! The House sauces that they provide you with are OK. MY favorite was the seafood sauce. I had a really good experience and would recommend this place to anyone coming in a large group! For an average of $ 25-$ 30 per person you get a ton of food and leftovers for days, plus an awesome food show!

Something’s fishy has been a family thing for a long time. A history lesson for you all. Something’s Fishy actually originated in Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway right across Topanga state beach. This location was amazing and all us locals were extremely upset when they left. BUT when this location was opened we were still able to still have the great sushi menu of Something’s Fishy. Moving on… My favorite thing here is the stuffed jalapeño. Basically think of it as a stuffed jalapeño with crab. It’s absolutely amazing if you like jalapeño, crab and cream cheese. If you like a Philadelphia roll, you’ll definitely like this. Fisherman’s roll. It’s basically a California roll with eel. It’s tasty and fresh. Dragon roll. Everything you’d want in a sushi roll. These are my favorite but I’d like to write more about the staff and atmosphere. The staff has always been absolutely amazing. Very helpful, quick and professional. We had an issue once where my girl forgot her ID to get drinks. But since they’ve seen us so many times and remembered her they said it’s ok she forgot it. Thank you! This place has two sections. A teppan style steak house and a sushi bar/restaurant. It’s a large restaurant. I’ve actually never experienced their teppan side and now that I think about it… Maybe I’ll go do that this weekend. Either way if the service is even as half as good as it is on the sushi side you’ll be pleased. The happy hour menu is great here to. They also have different specials on each different day of the week. Overall I’d highly recommend this place for some good sushi and good drinks. They do have a full bar as well. Food: Above average Décor: A bit outdated this is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. Staff/Customer service: Amazing, fast and professional. No complaints. Cleanliness: Clean. Could be a bit cleaner. Bathrooms: Needs to be remodeled for sure.

The food here is always so fresh and excellent! I’ve been here about four times, Most recently we had the calamari and shrimp hibachi(come for the Early bird special for affordability $$)z The salads were crisp and fresh, and the fried rice is unbeatable! It is definitely one of the more affordable hibachi restaurants I’ve been to this far.

I decided to get take out from here. It wasn’t the greatest but it was good enough. I’m sure taking it to go didn’t help. The sushi had an odd flavor. The décor seemed like I was in a comedy parody of Benihana.

I hate to do it but yes I have to compare this to benihana. So similar, very delicious food cooked by some great chefs who perform some great tricks in front of you. Food is hibachi style so your food is made to order right in front of you! It looks very nice inside, pretty big place. THESPECIALSARE A PLUS!

Very unusual décor… let me take a moment and talk about the akward décor. Has a 80 vibe, mixed with an occasional splash of modern. The vibe feels uncomfortable. I got a drink – a martini(rare moment) it was so strong I asked for water trying to water it down. The food was not great – the whole meal and experience was actually awful. Theres a side door that people kept walking though which was right behind us. I felt like I was a low class bar – I didn’t feel safe. Guess there more to the title – on that note I won’t be coming back.

This place is pretty awesome. We went for Father’s Day and it was pretty packed. They have Teppan grills very similar to Benihana. Service was awesome and quick as busy as they were. The only thing I didnt like was the air circulation. There is like no ventilation and even with the pictures I took you could see all the smoke. Maybe cause it was so many grills cooking with the amount of people there. As far as food it is definitely abundant. There were 6 of us and we all shared a meal and we still took food home. The food was very basic and very easy on the seasoning. But if ur looking to have a good time and experience a teppan grill its a pretty cool place.
