Montys is my favorite restaurant the service and food are excellent I’ve had most on menu, you’ll thank yourself all week if you order the Australian lobster and rib eye and they have the juiciest Louisiana chicken it’s to die for its a real gem of a place . Marvin G

Montys has been around for longer than I can remember. I went here with my friend and we got the rib eye, mashed potatos, and spinach. The food was really tasty, but very pricey. We sat out on the patio which was nice except all the smokers smoke there so it was unpleasant to eat in cig smoke. Overall the was great and I would recommend it, but for the same price you can go to ruth chris, baltaire, or even mastros.

I’ve never ever had a problem here whatsoever with the food or the service. But for whatever reason, today my waitress was really off her game. She forgot almost everything that we asked for, and then we had to ask her repeatedly to bring a few things, including refills. It was very strange, considering like I said, I’ve never ever once had a problem here. I guess everybody has their off days.

WE haven’t been to this restaurant in a while. Used to be an old standby, but so many other steak places opened. We had an excellent dinner tonight. Service great. Steaks cooked to perfection. Huge portions so definitely share. Fried brussel sprouts yummy. Ribs were different than before, but much better. We will definitely return. WE liked the Garden Room. Quaint. We definitely will go again with our family and alone. Diane R

Monty’s Steak House is a bit pricey, but it was definitely worth it. I went here on 11/11/2015 for both my dad and brother’s birthday. The bill came out to be somewhere around $ 500 for about 8 people. I had the Burrata Filet which was a filet mignon that seems to have been marinated in a tomato sauce mixed with some sort of truffle oil. In addition, there was warm melted burrata cheese on top(I actually got this because I didn’t know what burrata cheese was). My brother got a sizzling rib eye that was actually really really good haha. I couldn’t quite figure out why I liked it so much but it definitely did not need any extra condiments and could be eaten alone. If I had to choose a steak to eat every day for the rest of my life, it would be that. My Burrata Filet was great but I still got jealous of the sizzling rib eye. As far as the ambiance of the Steak House, it seemed to be a location where many business men went to after work as almost every customer was in some sort of semi-formal attire. Monty’s is valet parking only(don’t park at the bank because you may get towed). All in all, Monty’s is a nice place to go to for special events, and even though I loved the food, I don’t know if I could stomach the price of being a regular there.

Due to some confusion with reservations, we were shuffling around the restaurant to find a table, but the hostess was accommodating and seated us near their very visible meat and vegetable fridge. The waitress was attentive and let us know what the daily specials were. Monty’s feels like the old school steakhouse it is. Very classic dishes and service. I had their roasted tomato soup which was pretty tart. For my lunch, I chose their chicken caesar salad(Gubby style) with anchovies. The salad was great. Very fresh. Super salty anchovies. Dressing needed a touch of lemon, but I enjoyed it. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes — ranging from New York steak salad, French dip, salmon and beef bourguignon. *There’s parking in the back but beware, it’s mostly valet!

Crazy sizzling ribeye…(we shared it and it was plenty)(sublime!) My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. .we sat at the bar and we’re completely entertained by a Bartender who went by the moniker of Larry… This guy was funny!!! And he made an outstanding«old fashion«…I had 3… that’s how delicious they were. We also ordered fries to go with the steak… a huge plate of fries came out… not greasy …my wife said they were some of the best fries she’s had in awhile… It was our first time to Monty’s. .but I guarantee we will be back to sample more of the menu… We also met a couple regulars who go by the names Bob and Rick… super welcoming… full of Monty’s history… they deserve a free meal for their loyal historic contributions and making me and my wife feel welcome and at ease. …Overall we had a great night and listened to the band until closing time…

Monty’s is such a great little staple in the valley. The vibe is always cool. If you want a nice, relaxing dinner with a good cocktail(or 2) then this is a must!

What’s the use of a personal complaint if the staff still won’t do anything? It’s my birthday celebration with my dad and not only was my steak over cooked but the staff just plainly didn’t care! It was sad to watch them laugh and not even ask how our meal was after knowing I was hung up on while making a reservation… Sadly the last birthday I spent here was 10+ years ago and I don’t think I’ll be spending another one here. Thanks for nothing.

Best steak house in the San Fernando Valley. If you are a person who appreciates a great steak house then you must give this place a try. If you are coming here with small group or large group you will be treated with excellent customer service. For starters I would highly recommend the french onion soup or the crispy Brussels sprouts. If you are craving a salad the Cesar salad is excellent or the chopped salad. For the all meat lovers the rack of lamb is a must. If you are craving a steak the prime sizzling rib-eye steak. If you love fish you must try the Alaskan halibut or the peppered salmon. They also have life entertainment on the weekends. The minute you arrive to the minute you leave you will have outstanding service. They have valet parking and street parking.

I mean, it’s pretty good food. There were six of us there(bill came to $ 600 before tip) so I got to see a really good sampling of everything. Likes and dislikes: –kind of nice to go to some place that is genuinely a little old-school. NOT Mastros, NOT Mortons, NOT Cut, NOT Flemings, etc. NOT a chain. –food was good. Not stellar but solid across the board. –the prices are a little stiff. $ 17 for a martini, $ 12 for a baked potato, $ 55 for a Bone-in Ribeye(to compare, a Bone-in Ribeye at CUT is $ 63 for 20 oz and this place aint CUT and that Ribeye was not 20 oz.)(I did not weigh it, in the interest of full disclosure) –if you ARE going to charge $ 55 for a Ribeye do you need to add $ 6 for sauce to put on it? –this martini was really good. Better than the one I had last week at Musso and Franks. –I was gonna whine about the $ 20 corkage until I saw that it’s $ 50 at Cut and Spago and $ 30 at a lot of high restaurants. –the wait staff was pretty good. I had to look around and get someone’s attention maybe once or twice but they were mostly on it and very nice.

Went tonight on a date. The place was empty as we got there right at 5PM. It has a weird old smell when you walk in, but we were led into the dining room which was quaint. Madonna was our waitress. She was very attentive, and super friendly. We already had our mind set on what we were going to order, until she started reading the specials. We had the lobster/crab appetizer with avocado. I had the house special swordfish with black pepper and bacon. Delish! My date had the house special Mahi Mahi, was also very tasty! I had coffee that was very good. My date had the chocolate cake with ice cream. I took a bite and it was a piece big enough to feed three people. All in all great experience. Madonna never let our water glass empty, and she as a wonderful waitress. I would recommend and would come again.

Went here to try it out and to my surprise it was YUMMY!!! It is a hidden gem and the fact that the color of the building is brown, it’s camouflaged with the trees around it. So this place is easy to miss if you’re not from around the area. But just to point out, they are next to a Bank. They have entertainment every Friday(same bands play) and Saturday evenings(there’s always a different band playing). The type of music varies on Saturdays since there’s always different bands playing according to them. As for starters, we ordered the Tuna martini and Shrimp wrapped in bacon! Entrees: Braised Lamb and Scallops that was cooked to perfection. Desserts: Bomb ass bread pudding and Triple Fudge Chocolate Cake served with Ice cream. Overall, this place is hands down good on food and desserts. The interior of the place is a little outdated and dark but the staff are all super nice. Will definitely come back for their bread pudding.

I LOVE this steakhouse. The service is really fun, quick, and entertaining. It’s not a fancy mancy type of service. but one where the server interacts with you, jokes with you, and overall has a fun time. The food is the BESTPART!!! The cooked our steaks EXACTLY the way we wanted them. My father ordered the 24oz Tomahawk. HOLYCRAP was it BIG. the bone itself was huge too! My father is rarely left full after a steakhouse… but he was plenty full(and that’s saying something) after we left. The seasoning on his steak was perfect and it required nothing extra. I ordered the ribeye, which came on a hotplate. They cooked mine medium rare+ just the way I like it. Seasoned well and delicious. My mother had the salmon, and she complimented them on it. I had a small taste and do recall it being delicious, but I don’t recall much more on it. It would be nice if they had some extra sides included with their steaks, but for the size of meat you get and for the quality and the taste, I can overlook that. I will definitely be back. The crowd here is definitely on the older side(50+)

Seriously might be the best steak I have ever had. Bold statement I know. I had the New York strip. It was so juicy it was like cutting butter. I like my meat medium well. Not a popular opinion among steak enthusiasts but I don’t care. Point is I usually get served medium or well. Not here. It was cooked perfectly. The best thing about this restaurant is the ambiance. The restaurant had an old school Vegas feel. I highly recommended the french onion soup. For sides we had the brussel sprouts(a tad on the salty side), corn and mashed potatoes. Pretty hard to mess those up. Let’s be honest I live in the city so this is too far to frequent on a regular basis but if I’m ever over the hill again & looking for a top notch restaurant I know where to go.
