This past summer was my first CSA; I shared a basket for two with a co – worker. The variety, quality, freshness and tastes were fantastic! I appreciated the e-mails with the week’s contents and the coordinated recipes for some of the vegetables that were new to me. can’t wait for this year and the first kohlrabi! I was not home for Thanksgiving, so passed on that holiday basket, but did do the Christmas holiday basket and presented my family with a GREAT roasted root vegetable side dish. Amanda, Mike and the high school interns are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. It’s a win-win situation for all. healthy food, local business, h.s. interns in Vo-Ag…Can’t wait to start again this spring!

This was my first year purchasing a CSA and I came in half way through the summer when The Farm at Woodbury offered additional shares. My family of 3 adults really enjoyed the fresh vegetables. We have always had a garden, but Woodbury provided vegetables that I had not thought of growing and some I had not eaten before so it was great way to try new things. I liked it so much that I bought the winter CSA as well and am still eating squash and onions that I have in my basement! One of the things I love, love, love about the Woodbury CSA are the weekly emails with the list and video of what will be in the basket plus all the recipes. I used many of the recipes throughout the summer. I just placed my order for the full summer and winter shares and cannot wait for it to start.

I give local gifts at the Holidays. None of my presents would be complete without a jar of local honey, and a jug of local maple syrup. The Sugar Shed is my go-to place for both. I have friends around the country who anticipate my yearly package from Woodbury. One year, I had a «Secret Santa» who lived in Alaska. Of course, she received a package that included The Sugar Shed’s syrup and honey. It was her first time tasting real maple syrup — apparently, they use molasses on pancakes up there. She has yet to forgive me since real maple syrup costs about five times what it does around here, and she won’t use anything else now. The family that runs the business is very nice, friendly, and will take time to answer your questions. I have learned to call about a week ahead for honey — I buy 5-pound jars since I use a lot of it, and they don’t always have it available. If you didn’t know, local honey helps your body build defenses against illnesses native to your area. Since I started using local honey, I rarely get sick, and if I do, it’s when I’ve been traveling. I believe they’re only open on weekends, so plan accordingly.

They have both maple syrup and honey. But the things I like best are the flower, plants and veggies that they grow. Everything that I have ever gotten from them has been fabulous, from the spring flowers; the shrubs that grow year round in my yard; to the veggies plants that I grow in my garden; to the extra veggies that I get that they grow, to the fall mums and pumpkins. They do it all and everything is incredible. I would not hesitate on any purchase from«The Farm» aka The Woodbury Sugar Shed.
