I loved their selection, really interesting wines, and some quite affordable… HOWEVER the young man who rang me up put all four bottles in 1 single paper bag, I got them in the car, but was skeptical getting them out of the car. of course the bag broke, I lost 1 bottle and i was pretty upset it, I live in Philly and just happened to be in the area, plus I was pretty excited for this bottle of Fiano. The bag started to rip as I was maneuvering the bag into another bag I managed to catch 3 of the bottles… I was pissed. I called to let them know that is was irresponsible to put 4 bottles in 1 flimsy bag, and all I wanted was an apology, but I had the displeasure of talking to a young man who has no concept of customer service, he should have apologized and offered to replace the bottle, but instead he argued with me and told me it was my fault because I should have asked for a double bag. Perhaps they should employ adults who are 1) knowledgable about the selection(no one asked if they could help me at all, nor did the person who rang me up know anything about wine 2) who understand the concept of customer service 3) who know how to pack things properly

The staff is always friendly and helpful. J&D’s has a great«small business» vibe to it that you cannot find with liquor store behemoths like Joe Canal’s or Bobkat’s. Their selection is respectable considering the size of the store, and anything that’s remotely popular they probably have. If not, they’ll take your request and usually special order some for you. They have a wine chiller that can make any bottle cold within 5 minutes, which is a plus. J&D’s also has their TV on, especially during sports games, so if you need to pop in for that extra 12-pack during the game you’ll be able to catch what’s going on while you’re shopping(an especially critical draw during playoff season). I recommend popping in and seeing what they have to offer. Chances are good you’ll have a positive experience there.

So it’s always a bit of a moral struggle for me when I try to buy local but am unable to suppress my super-picky side. I do love the proximity of this liquor store, and they do have a small but thoughtful wine selection… but it can’t match my beloved Joe Canal’s or the deals found at a Roger Wilco’s. However, the staff is friendly & they are truly a locally owned business. The major draw… They have a wine chiller ALWAYS on if you want to buy a bottle of white off the shelf & drink it right away. 5 minutes for a cold bottle is no joke! Bonus points right there. If you live in the area, go check it out one day. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
