I was in the mood for coffee or something sweet and tasty that would perk me up after a long eventful day in Huntington, so we pulled out the Unilocal mobile app and came to this small coffee and ice cream shop. It was a Friday around 5pm and I was a little distraught to find the place completely empty and very dim. In this awesome little ice cream shoppe in Rockville Centre, called Five Pennies Creamery, the place is always bright and fun, with a constant trickling in of people. The interior of In the Mood is nice with a purple and red color scheme, a few cute counter stools, and a few chairs. The café is rather small with not a lot of room for a bunch of people to hunker down and enjoy their ice cream. I felt that the ambiance was lacking and that it didn’t make me deliriously happy or charm me as much as Five Pennies Creamery does(one of the cutest place!). While I wasn’t impressed with the interior, the lady behind the counter was nice. She was patient while I was deciding what ice cream to get and she encouraged me to have samples. I ended up picking the Raspberry Road Runner with chunks of French pastries, raspberry truffles, and raspberry swirls. The ice cream was very good but unlike the other reviewers I don’t think it was as good as it gets and warrant 5 stars. It’s good ice cream but its not amazing. A small cup of ice cream was $ 4 and it was more than enough to share.

Went to check out in the mood today based on all the good Unilocal reviews. It’s definitely not something I would have found on my own and I’ve passed it a bunch of times without noticing it. I tried the caramel n’ tates cookies. It was really good mix of vanilla with cookies. I didn’t notice the caramel too much which was quite alright with me. I also liked the Coconut Almond Fudge if you’re in the coconut mood. One scoop is certainly enough to share with a buddy!

Amazing sorbet’s and homemade ice cream… Few people realize that tucked back off Woodbury Road, a few miles north of Jericho Tpk. is this ordinary looking little store… that is doing what no other places are doing as well. Making ALL of the sorbets and ice creams homemade… and importing fruit for some of their gourmet sorbets. They carry the very best real active culture yogurt. Behind the scenes they have many huge, state of the art freezers, where these gourmet creations go from one freezer temperature. to the next in some type of sequence for keeping them done perfectly. Pear… peach wine… in addition to regular but awesome lemon etc… Ice cream is even more of a spectacle. those tubs… are fresh! constantly made on premises… Deep dark secrets is amazing… she has standard good flavors that kids love. and if you are looking for something you haven’t had that is delicious. they will surprise you. The gourmet here has roots in Ecuador… and they are famous for Helado’s — the South American name of sorbet. Very unassuming place, with top quality that is always a surprise… great and always a few new flavors.

I kept hearing about this place in Newsday and I just love ice cream, especially homemade, so I had to give it a try. It is located in a strip of stores and out of the way but so worth the trip! I had the coconut almond ice cream with the chocolate ice cream with brownies and caramel! Ohhhh, so delish! No one I know makes a good enough chocolate ice cream for me but the owner of this awesome place does! This place is a must for ice cream lovers! My 3yo daughter loved the vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles in it(can’t remember the name of it).

I’ve known of this place for years but just never seemed to get in the area though I live only 15 mins away. finally after a baby shower across the street I saw it and thought I’d stop by there after. it was amazing. the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I already can’t wait to go back which will be asap. I won’t shut up about this place. a little pricey but well worth it. beyond worth it. go here and try it out!

This place is near my office and I go there frequently for chopped salads, coffee and sorbet. The owner is always friendly and pleasant and the food is wonderful. My only comment is that the prices for salads and coffee are somewhat high so I can’t afford to go there as often as I would like.

If you are looking for the most flavorful natural homeade ice cream, than you have to try this place! The coffees are just as wonderful. Did I mention most of the icecreams are gluten-free(naturally) except for a few flavors. My favorite flavors are: Funky Pretzel Gold Mine and Pecan Praline. Yummy stuff! the customer service is great, free wi-fi and you can just relax or get it to go. The sandwitches and salads are a must try too! I get the grilled chicken pannin and they make it exaclty how I want it! Next time you are in the mood for good food, & good ice cream— head to INTHEMOOD, you won’t be sorry, and you support the mom and pop type shops instead of massed produced places!

YAY. I love it! I noticed it passing by so many times and meant to stop in, today was the day. I stopped in about 3pm on a Monday with daughter, when we both had a craving for some ice cream. So many flavors and gourmet coffee to choose from, and friendly service from the owner. I had the Tates & Cream(featuring Tate’s gourmet cookie crumbs) and a Caramel Macchiato. It was nice that we had a nice comfortable table to sit at. Here you can either relax inside or carry out. My daughter had a vanilla cone with sprinkles(loved it). Free wi-fi. They also have sandwiches, salads, wraps, teas by Tazo and Chai Latte. This is a local slice of Heaven on Earth. I should have stopped in sooner but I will definitely be back!
