Hoi Won Chinese Take Out

Unfortunately I have to negatively update my review. After coming here 2x a week everyweek after work for 2 months and ordering the exact same thing, the woman at the counter got my order wrong twice. I always order steamed mixed veggies, twice it came drenched in some kind of sauce. Fine, you think for a loyal customer who gets the same thing all the time what you would do is just fix it. we weren’t angry, but the first time it happened she gave me a hard time, but the second time she actually was raising her voice to my partner, saying she «never gets orders wrong!» and he MUST have said the wrong thing! Never returning, she just lost a ton of money by being so rude and not knowing a thing about customer service. Also *alert* you can use credit card here but something shady is going on: we received an e-​mail from the restaurant (?!) and yesterday she had a post up about «why you receive e-​mails after using your credit card.» Completely bizarre.

My favorite Chinese food place hands down, perfect amount of grease, sodium and calories to satisfy anyone’s cravings. Get a cup of her homemade spicy soy sauce, it’s got dried chilies floating in it and really adds a perfect kick to any meal

Awesome take out. Their General Tso’s chicken is the best. Very clean and awesome service. Also convenient for where I live. Living in Long Island is hard to find a good Chinese take out. Highly recommended

Very good basic Chinese takeout.

My family has been ordering takeout from here for at least ten years. It has gotten to the point where who ever takes the order knows my Dad’s name and will have a conversation with him when he comes to pickup our order. We usually stick with our usual (Beef with Broccoli, Chicken fried rice, Shrimp lo mein, and chicken chow fun). This weekend we just tried the Chicken Moo Goo Gai pan and we all enjoyed it. I thought it was just as good (possibly better) as my favorite place in DC. I haven’t noticed any difference in the quality but I usually get takeout when I am visiting.

We’ve been ordering take-​out from here for the past 8 years — since they first opened. The first few years, the quality of the food was excellent as far as Chinese Take-​out goes. We were very happy with the food and ordered from here often. However, over the last few years, the quality has been slipping. Slipping to the point where the food we ordered from them yesterday will be our last. The food was horrible!
The Wonton Soup was strangely bright yellow and the broth tasted like it was from a can of Swanson’s or College Inn or reconstituted from dried bouillon. Eerily artificial and most likely full of MSG.
We were in shock when we opened the container of Shrimp Fried Rice as that too was bright yellow. I had to laugh because it looked like the rice you get at a Spanish or Mexican restaurant that has been cooked with Saffron or Turmeric, neither of which belong in Chinese Fried Rice. We had never seen bright yellow Shrimp Fried Rice before. Actually, as I write this, I wish I would have taken photos.
The Chicken Chow Mein was the worst of the bunch. The consistency of the sauce was somewhere between snotty egg whites and gelatin. It seemed like someone had dumped a whole container of corn starch into the wok when they were preparing it. Thick slimy goop is the best way that I can explain it. Not many vegetables, mostly thick slimy goop and chicken. We didn’t enjoy eating it in the slightest bit. Actually, we didn’t eat most of it, that’s how unappetizing and unappealing it was.

I have been eating here for years. The Beef with Broccoli is great but I think they’re getting a little too relaxed with their customers.
