Ethan Allen

I used to be a very loyal Ethan Allen customer, but their product quality and service has deteriorated to the point I won’t spend another dime with them.
The last item I purchased was a leather sofa. Their later brochure touts, «Ethan Allen leather gets more beautiful with time.» In reality, I’m pretty certain the «leather» sofa I purchased isn’t even leather. It has a wrinkly look to it, and when scratched, a white plasticy material shows through the «leather.» (It is unlike any other leather I own or have experienced.) It looks and feels like plastic.
Customer service was unresponsive unless consistently contacted and finally stated that there wasn’t an issue with the leather. Their quality, and service, has deteriorated and they don’t stand behind their products.

Poor customer service. I was charged full price when ordering two items and was told it would be 8 – 12 weeks – and reassured it was typically 8 weeks. I had to call to inquire at the 10 week mark to find out it would be closer to 16 weeks. They offered to refund me on one item but not the other (which was custom). They really didn’t seem to care because they already made the sale.
Years ago, before the economy crashed, I was shopping at Ethan Allen and asked if they had sale coming up. I was condescendingly told that «we don’t have sales.» Of course since the market adjustment, they suddenly offer sale pricing. This was the same store. I should have learned my lesson and never have gone back because now I made the mistake of actually buying something. I won’t do that again!!!

I have shopped at this place a few times for furniture. I have been to a couple other Ethan Allen stores and have had good experiences in all of them, but the Woodbury location is my favorite. I have shopped here mostly for my living room. The rest of my house will come in time.
The pieces are more expensive than the average furniture store, but the quality (looks and durability) is much better; therefore, spending the extra money is worth it. The pieces have a unique appearance that sets Ethan Allen apart from the other stores. It is hard to describe how. They have a high-​end appeal that has never failed to make my house look fantastic.
I love the variety of pieces in here. I love that they have different room with all different themes. Such themes include Victorian, contemporary, beach, modern, etc. My favorite pieces come from the modern room. I believe that this arrangement makes the pieces easier to find and easier to think of ideas for my house. The employees also do a fantastic job at keeping everything clean. Such overall appearance quality makes this place fun and comfortable to walk around.
The employees are friendly and helpful at anything that I may need. My favorite designer there is Dan. I would call him the go-​to guy when it comes to interior design. I do not believe there is a single thing that he does not know. My living room has never looked better since meeting Dan! I have gotten several compliments from friends who visit my house.
I highly recommend Ethan Allen for those who are looking for furniture and interior design pieces. It is worth spending the extra money. I also recommend asking for Dan’s advice. He is the best!
