Tonight my boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner. We live close by and didn’t feel like driving far since it’s a week night and we both work the next day. The Landing has been open for a few months and we’ve heard great reviews from friends so we decided to check it out. First off, they did a PHENOMENAL job with the renovations. I hope people can get over what this place used to be and give the Landing a chance. Awesome atmosphere and great place for a date! The food was equally as good. For starters we had the crab and shrimp corn fritters which were delightful. For entrées my boyfriend had the crab cakes with wilted spinach and sweet potato fries while I had the saffron risotto with asparagus, plum tomatoes and sautéed scallops. Both of our meals were DELICIOUS! The only critique I have on the entrées is they were both a LITTLE too salty. Besides that, it was great. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake with raspberries and vanilla ice cream. Again, very good BUT they forgot our ice cream. It wasn’t a huge deal so we didn’t even mention anything. Small error so I won’t knock them too much for it :-) We definitely plan on coming again especially during the summer so we can enjoy the patio!

My first trip to The Landing was filled with delicious pretzel dogs, friendly service, and some of the best Bloody Mary’s ever to grace a glass. This venue is the perfect place from which to take in a game on a Sunday afternoon; in fact, they have a cozy set of couches surrounding an invitingly warm stove. Although the tiki bar has the best view, I opted for the inside bar, because it has a nice selection of wide-screen TVs. My bartender Hannah was fantastic, offering ice cold beers before I even gave voice to my desire.(I love it when a plan comes together), She also made some wonderful suggestions regarding their happy hour menu, and I was soon munching down on a pretzel-wrapped hot dog that was the perfect snack for a football Sunday. I am certain that I will return to explore more of The Landing’s menu, for I see that calamari and fried oysters are there for the nauching. Moreover, the view of Fall foliage and all things nautical adds to this location’s relaxing vibe. All of this is complimented by some outstanding service from Hannah and Boomer, making The Landing a clear choice for a very enjoyable afternoon.

I really like this place, especially their fried oysters. I’ve been here 3 times before for dinner and Saturday lunch and was impressed. I decided to bring my mom this Sunday without knowing they only served the brunch menu. Definitely not a fan. I’m not big on eggs so I’m partial to Brunch already. I was hoping for the oysters and crab cakes but neither were on the menu. We ordered the calamari, only after being reassured they were barely battered like the oysters. Ummm… not close. We tried the tomatoes and mozzarella with basil since the rest of the menu seemed so heavy– pasta or sandwiches. Mozzarella lacked taste and tomatoes were too thickly sliced considering they weren’t fully ripe. Our final dish to share was the saffron risotto with crab. Yeah I’m disappointed, especially since I had spoken so highly of this place to my mom. All other times would have earned this place 5 stars but today’s brunch was flat and heavy– 2 stars when considering mediocre service. Not sure why service was so inattentive but all other times the servers were pleasant, checked in on us, and I never had to consider going to the bar to get a menu or lemon. Our waiter never asked us how things were and he would disappear. My final comment is about the crème brûlée. Again, there must be different cooks in the kitchen because it was not fully cooked. It was still eaten though and I didn’t feel like talking to managers. Yes, I would try this place again but not on a Sunday!

It’s about time Woodbridge. A decent seafood restaurant without having to leave Prince William county. A million dollar renovation covers up the fact that this used to be the local club spot. Well any way, on to the food review… The crab cake was very good, and I thoroughly enjoyed my salad with scallops on top. Everything was cooked perfectly. I liked the shrimp and crab fritters as well. The restaurant is right near the bridge on the water, so its nice to view the boats. The service was really good too. I can’t wait to return. 4.4 Stars!

Finally – Old Town-quality food without having to drive up to Alexandria! The remake of this waterfront hangout was so tastefully done, it’s really a welcome addition to the Woodbridge restaurant scene. First things first: yes, it’s a strange location, but you no longer have to worry about bar fights and sticky menus. If you’ve been to prior incarnations of this restaurant, you know what I mean. The renovations were extensive, and this is now a great date restaurant or special occasion spot. I can definitely see how family-friendly it would be during the day. You can order from the whole menu inside or from a lighter menu out on the deck. The only things missing outside are the bigger main dishes, so it’s not just a small bar menu. Service comes with a smile here. Everyone was very pleasantly helpful, and the manager made a point to come over and ask how our meal was. That’s always such a nice touch. We tried a bunch of little things, and each dish was great. At first glance, the corn/crab/shrimp fritters seemed very hearty, but were actually delicate enough that you could taste each of the key ingredients. The fried calamari was perfectly golden, in an airy flour-based coating and served with a fresh marinara and aioli-type dip. The roasted shrimp appetizer was nice and spicy, in a garlicky olive oil sauce that we chased around the dish with the accompanying toast. We had salads next, a lovely crisp Caesar and a fantastic fried oyster salad with mixed greens and an orange vinaigrette. Dessert was a shared banana bread pudding with fresh bourbon cream. Dense and rich, it was not too sweet and the perfect ending to our meal. We came away stuffed, with a box of about a third of our appetizers to take home, and the knowledge that we’d be back soon.

We went during their soft opening and had an amazing meal! Everything we had(except maybe the marinara sauce) was amazing. Crab cakes, sweet potato fries, scallops, wilted spinach… it was all delicious! The renovations are beautiful! I’ve gone to this location through it’s many incarnations, and this is by far, the best! The service was great. I’m looking forward to eating here again.
