TRISTEZA!!! Well, I hope you’re happy, whatever dark forces took my favorite fryers of chiles rellenos from me… cause I for one am miserable about this news. Picture it: Woodbridge, two weeks ago. I was visiting down NoVA way, all merrily headed to a platter of batter-fried, cheese-stuffed chiles in tangy tomato sauce. Or so I thought. Freakin’ merrily, I tell you. And then, «NOOOOO!» Crashing disappointment, denial, sorrow, anger… bitter weeping, etc. Taco Mexico is CLOSED. Es cerrado, suckas. Whyyyyy? There was wailing at this terrible discovery, I assure you. Oh whadda I know? Maybe the owners hit the jackpot in life and are livin’ it up somewhere out theres… I hope that’s the case. I really do. All I know is that dismal stretch of Route 1 is ever gloomier without my favorite spot for Mexican food in Woodbridge. ATTENTIONWORLD: The top slot is now open for the taking, in my category of #1 favorite chiles rellenos of life… which used to be held by Taco Mexico. Tristeza.

I’ve been here twice now and have gotten the al pastor burrito(I think that’s what it was called) both times. Just a heads up, the burritos are all pretty much just meat and cheese. Rice and Beans come on the side.

Thanks to Taco Mexico I can grab a great meal for lunch without having to hit up fast food. The tacos are good sized and everything taste really fresh. Also, the homemade flan is killer.

In town for training and instructor told us how to get to Chick-Filet and Mc D’s for lunch. What? No can do’s-ville, baby doll! Thank goodness for Unilocal! At Taco Mexico, you can eat an authentic lunch with Mexico Mary(there’s a pretty sweet, vivid shrine to her in the dining room). Enchiladas Verdes were excellent. More spicy than sweet, but still delish. Don’t indulge in McNasties, opt for Taco Mexico. You’re taste buds will say, «Graciås.»

This food is fantastic. Put your focus on the tacos – you will not be dissappointed. Care is obviously taken to make sure the flavors are excellent – even the rice and beans(afterthoughts in most Meican restaurants) were flavorful and made with care. So good.

I have a ridiculously, unnaturally hard time finding good Mexican food up here! When I lived in Alexandria, it was a little easier, but not so much in Woodbridge/Occoquan area. This place has been my go to for soft tacos(carne asada) and the carne asada burrito since I moved to the area in September 2011. It’s great! The salsas they give you on the side are home made, the beans are GREAT!, the pico de gallo is so fresh! It’s amazing. I gotta say — best Mexican food hands down. A good friend of mine is pregnant and she has had minimal weird-o cravings(like ice cream and pickles) but she gets INSANE cravings for the carne asada soft tacos, with LOTS of cilantro — always fresh there!

Living in California for 7 years means that I’ve had my share of Mexican food. Located in a sketchy part of Woodbridge, you have to deal with crowds of shady characters eyeballing you in the parking lot to get to Taco Mexico, but in the pursuit of tasty food, who cares? First, if you’re averse to unhygienic restaurants, this isn’t the place for you. The floor was spotted with dried sauce in a hundred places, from(hopefully) that day’s patrons. The bathroom was semi-flooded, with an unidentified dead bug thrown in for good measure. I ordered in my mediocre Spanish, only to realize that the person taking my order was an English speaker. Oh well. Food takes a while once you’ve ordered, but it’s definitely worth it. My Pollo Milanesa torta was huge, fresh, and delicious. My wife’s carne asada tacos weren’t cheap($ 3.50 per taco) but they were also extra large and tasty. There are plenty of fixings by the counter-salsas, etc but alas no aguas frescas. That’s the hardest thing to deal with in this area; in CA, every Mexican joint made an assortment of aguas frescas, even the taco trucks. In any case, I’ll be back, probably sooner than later.

Solid kitchen. Decent pupusas served with a great vinegary cabbage. Outstanding broiled chicken. Carne aside was fair. Staff was very friendly and helpful to the gringos. Didn’t even try a taco.,

Awesome food. I cannot wait to return. I felt like I was back in Mexico. Nobody really speaks english… which is fine with me because I don’t go there to talk. I called to get directions or at least a better idea of where they were located and they hung up the phone because they couldn’t understand anything I was saying. Thank God I can understand numbers in spanish because I wouldn’t have had a clue when they called my number the moment my food was ready. Located in an unattractive strip mall on Rt 1 in Woodbridge but totally worth the stop. So far I tried the carnitas tacos and the Chile Rellenos. Delicious. Places like this is the reason why I have to work out.

I’ve only had tacos here, but if the taste and quality is any indication of the rest of the menu items, I’d say this place is pretty darn good! My wife and I had the shredded beef tacos. They were absolutely delicious. Friendly service, too. We had 4 tacos @ $ 2.50 ea = $ 10. As nothing else came with the entrée(no chips or anything), we thought it a bit pricey. But still, we walked away full and happy!

I can’t get enough of these tacos! These are not your run of the mill Taco Bell tacos. As a matter of fact you’d be hard pressed to even find a crispy shell here. These are authentic Mexican tacos, as far as I can tell… having never been to Mexico and all. If tacos aren’t your thing, that’s cool too. They have a variety of Mexican dishes to please any appetite. You can go from Quesadillas to Seafood Soup. My personal favorite is the Barbaquoa(BBQ) Tacos. I never would have thought to put BBQ on a Taco! But they did, and thank god for that. Its not the average BBQ that you’d expect from say Famous Daves, but a lighter and somewhat spiced-up version of the BBQ we all know and love. If your feeling adventurous try the Lengua(cow tongue!!). It tastes like steak fat, that’s all. But, I just can’t get past the taste buds. Taco Mexico is nestled into a strip mall, which sits conveniently on Route 1. Order at the counter, and when your food is ready they will call your number. You can eat there or take your food to go. There is plenty of seating, I have yet to see the place completely full, and the tables all taken. **Make sure you brush up on your Spanish**. They will take your order in English, but when your food is ready they will call your number in Spanish. I’ve only heard them call between 1 – 100, so it’s really not so bad.
