First time we visited on Father’s Day! The atmosphere is beautiful, the food was DELICIOUS, and our server, Lynn, was GREAT! We had a beautiful table. I had a delicious app. consisting of buratta, figs, prociutto, and greens, my husband had a wedge salad, but not in a wedge shape, more round… we split a pasta dish of mushrooms and truffles, and cavatelli. I had the sirloin, cooked perfectly, he had the bone in veal chop, and we shared onions strings. Did I mention the perfect Ketel One Martini, with large green hand-stuffed blue cheese? To die for!!! I am telling you this place is absolutely A++!! Oh wait the crème brûlée and homemade cookie??? Superb!!! Even the coffee the great… no need for crème and sugar!!! A+++ I kept saying OMG throughout the whole meal. You must try this great restaurant!!!

We have had dinner at Strega Prime 3 times now so I think now it’s a good time to write a review. The food, drinks and service have all been outstanding every single time. We have ordered different things from the menu to ensure we try as much as possible and every time we have had an excellent meal. For apps we have tried the calamari, Mamma Rosetta meatball, the crabcake and the octopus(a special which they don’t always have but OMG it’s incredible!!). For dinner we have had the dry-aged ribeye, the scallops and the lamb, all of which were fantastic! The wine list is superb, they carry anything from $ 35 to $ 3000 wines. You read that right, they have incredible wines from ’82, such an amazing selection. The desserts we tried were tiramisu and crème brûlée, along with a capuccino and a glass of Macallan 15yr scotch, all of which was simply excellent. The waiters are very nice and knowledgeable about food and wine, and the manager walks around to ask you if all is well with your meal every night. Fabulous! Looking forward to coming back again!

Out of all the high end streak houses in MA this is one of my favorites. Food and service were exceptional– we came on a Saturday night and didn’t experience any of the service issues previously noted. Service: Waitress was friendly, attentive and checked in at the right times. Food: 5 star– I’d rather eat here than go to any of the places in Burlington. I think it is because the sides are done so well(mashed potatoes, mac&cheese). The steak is also excellent which made the whole meal exceptional. PS: The wagu meatball appetizer is A+!

First time here for my fiancée’s 35th birthday. The atmosphere is very nice. The service was top notch. The food was delicious. She had the bone in filet and it practically melted in my mouth. I had the delmonico, which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The menu is small so you’re guaranteed a great meal. Will definitely return! P. S. The complementary valet parking is awesome!

This place is like walking back in time. Its an old school steakhouse and seems to like being that. The service was formal, old school, and a bit on the pushy side. The menu is fairly standard and doesn’t have a whole lot new or interesting on it. I started with a carpaccio/tartare dish that has some strange elements. There were these pickled mushroom rooms that were really sour and the carpaccio itself was flavorless. The plate seemed like it had been sitting in a refrigerator for a while. I got the $ 57 lamb, which was okay, but not worth $ 57. The quiona side was cold and mushy. The best part of the meal was the cheese plate we finished with. The only downside of that was that the server couldn’t tell us what the cheeses were. If you couldn’t tell from the price of the lamb, this place is rather expensive.

One of the worst dining experiences of my life. My boyfriend and I made dinner reservations here a few weeks ago and when we arrived at the restaurant we were told that WE made a mistake there were NO reservations in our name. This was after I showed them the confirmation email I had been sent. We eventually found a table in the bar area which as fine. The one highlight to the evening was the food. However, the delicious food good not save the worst service of my life and this is coming from a former waitress. We saw our waitress MAYBE three times our entire meal. She brought my boyfriend the wrong drink and we never saw her after to correct it. The food runner showed more interest in us and brought over pop overs after noticing she never brought over any even though we asked THREETIMES. Here is my biggest issue: As a server I rarely tip less than 20%. Based on the service we received here I decided(my right as a consumer) that the waitress should not get that entire amount. So instead of leaving a 20% tip my boyfriend and I left around 17%. SEVENTEENPERCENTTIPFORTHEMOSTABYSMALSERVICE I HAVEEVERRECEIVEDINMYLIFE. She should have gotten ZERO. Fast forward to the next day when I check my bank statement and the waitress had decided that she did not have to abide by the law ORMYRIGHTAS A CUSTOMER because when entering her tips at the end of the night she decided to round up on the tip I originally left her. I called the restaurant and spoke to a manager who did not seem at all concerned that her staff was committing fraud and stealing from their consumers. Finally she told me she would look into and give me a call. Based on the lack of concern I noted from the manager I also sent an email to the customer services email provided on their website. A few days later I noticed the difference had been deducted from my total, but have still never heard anything from either source. I do not usually rant and rave on Unilocal, but I think people have a right to know when people are being scammed by a company. If a manager was not shocked that a waitress had been inflating her tips(which is the same thing as skimming from the register — except instead of stealing from the company she is stealing from the consumer) one can only assume this is something that has already been brought to their attention. It’s a shame because the food is great. it’s the whole theft and fraud thing that really brings this place down.

Food-wise this place was fantastic. Service-wise it was sub-par if not pretty bad. Came with a group of 10 coworkers during Dine Out Boston. The waiter just had no idea what was going on and kept wandering off and could not pull it together to multitask. He would take one wine order and not let anyone else order, leave, pour a sample glass, leave again before we could say anything, come back, leave, rinse and repeat. I’m used to Chinese service so I’m cool and adjusted to people being rude, but he was inefficient and unfriendly so you lose on both realms. Anywho, did the 3-course prix fixe. Meal started with a complimentary popover which was aiight. I had the steak tartare, proscuitto wrapped chicken, and key lime tart. The appetizer was delicious – the raw steak was fresh and the little tomato foccacia bites were like wonderful pillows of dough. Went really well with the tartare when you usually expect toast points. The proscuitto wrapped chicken was also great. It came on a bed of risotto which was meh. I wouldn’t put it high on my list of great risotto I’ve had(I don’t even have a list for that). Dessert was simply good. The base was rock hard so it made it difficult to eat and it was a bit too sweet but the citrus helped balance that. When we got the bill we were charged $ 55 for 7 bottles of sparkling water. I don’t even know if they asked any of us if we wanted sparkling water, they just started pouring. A lot. I mean it’s $ 6/pp so whatever but people don’t like surprises like that and you expect better service than unexpected beverage charges at a place like this. At least give us an option to opt out? Food was good but the overall experience left such a bad taste that I don’t know if I should go back…

I went here during Restaurant week, $ 38 for a three-course meal. Pretty reasonable for an «upscale» restaurant. For my appetizer, I had the tuna tartar, the 8 oz filet mignon for my entrée and mango pannacotta for dessert. If you order outside that menu I’d say you would easily pay approx. $ 75 per person for all three courses(Beverages, alcoholic or not are not included). The tuna tartar lacked salt and the guacamole that comes with it was too limey. The filet mignon– I asked for medium it was cooked medium. It also came with asparagus and mashed potatoes, they tasted good. The balsamic vinegar reduction was delicious. Overall, it was a good dish, but nothing extraordinary. The mango panna cotta was one of the best ones I’ve had, so it was my favorite course of the meal. Their wine menu is enormous– you’ll find maybe 1 – 2 pages of wine glasses, and probably 10 more pages of bottles of wine. If I remember correctly, they average $ 11-$ 12 per glass of wine. I couldn’t tell you about the bottles because I didn’t pay much attention to them. Overall, it was a good meal. Good atmosphere, and a good time. Parking– you can valet or walk extra 50 ft and park on either side or on the back. I recommend reservations if you plan to dine after 6:30pm. The place was packed around that time.

Food is a solid three — nothing wrong with it, but nothing special. I am rating the restaurant a two because for the price the food is not exciting, or awesome, or makes me want to go back and order something again. The ambience was a little blah as well — cold lighting and not a lot of music in the room we were in. To her credit the hostess did ask if I liked where our table was, hinting we could move, but we chose to stay. We went during restaurant week but since the apps and deserts did not appeal to us we went with the regular menu. To be honest not a lot of the regular menu appealed to us either. We had an order of the Eastern Oysters and Crab Cake to start. Eastern Oysters were great and come with what appears to be a champagne like raspberry sauce. Crab cake was good, but there was some underlying flavor I could not pinpoint that did not appeal to me. Complimentary bread looks cool, but is blah. For Dinner: Linguine all Vongolle: It was good had some flavor, not overly garlicky like some variations, but nothing to write home about. Spaghetti with clams and lobster and white fish(minus the mussels): This was good but nothing that screams I have to go back and order it again. Also I requested no white fish and mussels, but they did put the white fish in. I am positive that if I had mentioned it our server he would have fixed it, but I hate complaining so I did not say anything. He was not the one who brought it out so he would not have noticed upon delivery. For Dessert: Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse — okay, but the hazelnut flavor tasted of alcohol and in a medicinal way. Also kettle one dirty martini was mediocre — very bland but maybe I should have been more specific about what I wanted. At this price point — stick with the«other» steak place which I find to be much classier in terms of atmosphere and dress code and has food that I crave long after our visits.

This place is great. It’s my second time here. First time, I would say 4 stars but this time it was great, aside from the fact that it took longer than expected for our entrée to come. Came here for restaurant week. Friends got the Bolognese and I got the twin filet. I had a bite of theirs, and it was amazing. Mine was really good too and such a steal at $ 20. I plan to come back here again and have my bf get the Bolognese while I get the twin filet and just share. Because they are both just SO good. Pasta is also made fresh in-house. Frank, our waiter, was extremely polite and we loved having him serve us. He gave us a special new macaroon treat wth sorbet and it was the best thing in the world! He spoiled us and that added the perfect touch to a Friday lunch. Thank you! We will be back!

I don’t have much wonderful things to say about Strega. I’m no expert at food, but like most people I just expect good service and good food. Pros: the popovers were light and warm. The salmon tartare was well seasoned and fresh. The mango panna cotta was refreshing after a steak entrée. The atmosphere was very nice, romantic and clean. Plenty of parking. Cons: the wild mushroom pappardelle was the most unappealing dish I’ve ever seen and eaten. It was bland, and just not appetizing. $ 18 for a buratta appetizer that came with 3 slices of prosciutto, 3 slices of heirloom tomatoes and 2 slices of burned brioche? No. Our waitress was nice until she found that we wanted to do the dine out menu. She would ask how everything was but would have her eyes on other diners. Our brownie desserts wasn’t what was described on the menu – «Vanilla gelato with a warm brownie«something along those lines. We received a chocolate mousse and something that definitely wasn’t vanilla gelato and a hard chocolate coated brownie. I’m sorry but my 16 year old cousin could make something better. I figured if my experience was nice during dine out Boston I’d come back. But that won’t be the case anymore. Capital grille is a lot better – service and food wise.

I can’t say enough about the atmosphere and service at Strega Prime! I have dined there several times and always left feeling«wowed»! The warm reception starts at the hostess station and is carried through with the service throughout the evening. The wine list is more like a book which I enjoy. I also feel that the mark up on the wine prices isn’t as outrageous as other restaurants. The food is excellent, I typically order the half size meals and still have food left on my plate. I recently celebrated my anniversary and was delighted by the thoughtfulness in the complimentary dessert with well wishes scripted in chocolate across the plate. I’m surprised this restaurants overall rating is not higher. Do not be deterred by it, Strega Prime is a wonderful place to dine!

Not great. Especially if you’re expecting a Prime experience. The food was good. For starters, we ordered a wedge salad and the seafood tower. Steaks all around for entrees, with 4 sides… mashed, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, and spinach. PROS: Nice atmosphere. Valet parking. Nice bar. Classy place and quite large. The steaks were good, although the temps were way off on 2 of our 4 party members. The seafood tower was good as well, with the exception of the crab, which didn’t taste as fresh. CONS: The waiter was repeatedly asked to bring things… like plates or glasses of wine. We felt like he forgot every request we had. At one point we just sat there waiting and decided to dig in, despite not having the requested plates. I don’t think our requests were unreasonable. He seemed like a nice waiter, but not on-point for what I’d expect, given the prices. Staff was nice, especially the hostess. OVERALL: I’ve visited the waterfront Strega as well. I wanted to love this place more, as it’s located right off the highway, and it’s Prime steak. I enjoyed the visit, but it wasn’t anything to rave about. I likely won’t be back, as Flank just opened in Waltham, and I’ll give that a go.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and stopped in without a reservation when anther dinner plan fell through. We got seated in the bar area right away– which was very loud and the tables were very small. I’m not sure if you need reservations for the main dining room– it was not even offered to us and we did not ask. Overall good solid experience. I would not say blown away like some of the other reviews state. Not overly fantastic but decent food, good selection, decent service. There were parts that were better than others– the filet– amazing. Super tasty, melt in your mouth, deliciousness. The side of Brussel sprouts– again amazing. My mouth is watering thinking about them, sweet and tasty. Yum. The side of mushrooms was decent, tasty enough but nothing extra special. The mashed potato were just not good. They were bland we really didn’t even touch them. They did not live up to a steakhouse mashed potato should be. I love a good mashed potato and I had high hopes for this place. Not so much. Also, we started with the cheese and meat plate as an appetizer. It was decent. Good selection of meats and a few fantastic cheeses but I’ve definitely had better at other places in the area. Portion of this appetizer was pretty good. it could have feed more than 2. The wine list was pretty amazing. They had several options if you wanted to go by the glass but also some pretty pricey bottles. They also had half bottles and some martini-type drink specials. This place is not cheap, but on par with any other upscale steakhouse and good for a night out.

My boyfriend and I went to this location on Saturday night, we had reservations. The food was amazing we had the meatball appetizer as well as the mixed greens salad. For entrees we had the ribeye steak and gnoccis with lobster meat. Loved the cocktails and wine as well. My only complaint was about the waiter. He rushed us took away our menus too fast and I had to ask for the cocktail menu to be brought over. He never even told us the specials or gave us any recommendations. This did not happen to us at the seaport location. Very disappointed with the service for an expensive dinner.

I’ve had several experiences at Strega Prime; all of which have been fantastic and brag worthy. It’s Woburn, but who cares? The location is perfectly hidden from the traffic and aggravation of Downtown Boston, but so is it’s amazing tales to tell. As each time I came here I was blown away, this particular review has been a long time coming. My most recent venture to Strega Prime came at the expense of my father’s 60th birthday. Now, we decided not to do a private room merely because the venue itself is quite private, it’s quiet and beautifully arrange to give each table their own sense of privacy and aloofness really. Of course nothing bad can be said about the decadent interior, it’s dark but lovely, it’s bold yet classy. You feel truly comfortable when you’re seated and when you walk around the restaurant. We had a large party of course, 13 of us seated nicely on a long table. The communication from the staff was immaculate; our coats were taken, our seats were adjusted, we were told who would accommodate what and how. The entire staff that worked at attending to our needs, via drinks, appetizers, food in general of course was flawless. Though, I want to draw distinct attention to two gentlemen; Michael & Giovanni. There are servers and waiters that are quite good, they listen, they deliver and keep a smile on their faces. Then of course, there are men like these two who truly appreciate their work, it’s a craft to attend to your guest as if your own. Their sense of catering to our needs, our wants and of course our requests were unmatched. This interaction alone is what blew my mind away; completely dismissive of the food for now: I had to draw attention to the people who work there. Now the food, well, it was divine. No steak overcooked, no oyster spoiled, no drink left empty. Everything on their menu has a sense of traditionalism to Italian delicacies while balancing an appreciation for great flavors inspired by all. I’ve truly eaten almost everything and nothing has struck me as poor. They pay attention to flavors, portions and of course more importantly, the method of which the food has been prepared. I’m always interested in trying new things and it’s amazing to me how you can eat the same dish twice and actually taste a different ingredient you didn’t before. Now that is an experience in itself! My party was impressed; as besides my brother and I, no one had been here prior. We were especially happy to see our father amazed at the service, the food, and above all a personal and memorable birthday. The gentlemen respected his presence and made the comfort of his visit at Strega Prime their top priority. As we had our cake brought out and coffee served, we were so impressed with them we asked for their cards. I promised myself when I would finally write a review for this establishment, I would mention them. Micheal, Giovanni and the rest of the wonderful staff at Strega Prime; thank you for your hard work and dedication. What may seem like a job to most, these people display it as an art form. Truly worth encountering for yourself when you go and enjoy a night at Strega.

So, I eat around a lot. A LOT. Traveled to Italy, eaten at some of the best spots around. So, along with a group of old high school friends, I made dinner reservations for Strega. I arrived early and sat at the bar with a friend. We had delicious cocktails(Bees Knees) and the bartender was great; the ambiance and décor was top notch. However, not sure my cocktail was worthy of the $ 15 price tag. I can get a martini in Manhattan for $ 16, and frankly, Woburn is NOT Manhattan. As we finished our drinks, we got seated in the dining room; again, big wow factor for atmosphere and our waiter was super-attentive; Here’s were I can’t decide to rate this two stars(for outright ballsiness at thinking they’re a NYC venue) or three stars for actual value/quality. We were a group of six, so we shared the tuna tartare, a meat/cheese antipasto, and the alleged giant meatball. The tuna was flavorful, the antipasto was decent(though I’ve had better), and the meatball was sort of skimpy. My grilled salmon over vegetables was excellent, but it should be at the $ 29 price point. My skimpy glass of pinot noir with dinner was $ 16 for the glass. What? One friend ordered the beet salad as her entrée, thinking it would be of substantial size, but when it arrived, I’d call it more of a «snack». It would have been nice to know(from the waiter) that she’d probably have to go home and top off with a bowl of cereal and a banana. Another friend joined us for dessert… she ordered the crème brûlée… it came in a square copper pan… and it had a depth of less than a quarter inch. You actually had to put your face over the pan to see if there was anything inside the container. I believe a Snack Pack pudding cup has a higher net weight. So, this review isn’t so much about bad food or quality… it’s about an obnoxious idea that Strega can offer tiny portions at prices that will soon force it to close its doors. We were the only party in the dining room from 7 – 10PM, when I saw one other couple arrive; there were a few patrons in the bar when we left. I like nice things; I pay good money for nice things; Better Italian places in the area include Pavarotti’s in Reading and Al Fresca in Tewksbury. Strega was elegant, which makes it the kind of place you go ONCE to make a marriage proposal, but I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Strega Prime — Woburn, MA — 10/26/2015 Easy to get to as it’s located not far from the freeway… Ease of online booking but be aware that during rush hour it would be wise to anticipate some traffic. Dark woods and chandeliers with white table cloths make up the décor as you would expect from any fine steak restaurant… Painted portraits against the back wall and drapes along the front windows complete the motif. Michael, my server knew the menu and was great. Warm Popover with warmed butter– quite spectacular! I would say almost as good as the ones we make at home! Lobster Bisque, Sambuca dry sherry, lobster meat– More of a Lobster Broth consistency as opposed to the creamy bisque I usually get with a few chunks of lobster. Different than most and really good… Petit Filet(8 oz with a lobster tail and a side of creamed spinach… The steak…, cooked to perfection served with garlic butter… The lobster tail…, flavorful but small… Real small… I’m not quite sure I’ve ever seen a lobster tail quite that small… The creamed spinach…, not crazy about it… A little too much cream but overall not bad… The dessert menu looked great but having reached my limit I opted to finish with my signature cappuccino. Michael did everything possible to make sure I had a great dining experience. Took the spinach off the bill, a nice gesture and next time I find myself in the area I will come here again. Try them, I think you’ll be very happy.

For the Boston restaurant week special, Strega Prime was offering a 3 course dinner menu for $ 38.00. Starters included chilled corn soup, caprese salad and smoke tuna tartare. For dinner entrees, patrons could choose between the 6 oz filet, grilled salmon, cornish hen or pappardelle. The two dessert options were chocolate cream pie and crème brûlée. Some of us arrived early and got drinks at the bar. Some were on Asian time and one was stranded at the train station guilting me for not offering to pick her up. Although I didn’t go with the sangria, the girls were used to a sweeter version and had the bartender add extra simple syrup so they could enjoy the blended wine. Once our party was seated in the semi private area in the back and we ordered drinks. Some stuck with wine and some went straight for tequila shots. Wow, what a fun table! Everyone had different opinions on the complimentary warm popovers. Some of the girls thought it was too salty, some tried to guess the ingredients and some just loved it. The server confirmed that there is both butter and cheese in it. For starters, the table shared calamari, oysters, meatballs, and lobster gnocchi as well as the included appetizers in the fixed menu(corn soup and salmon tartare) I think most people were stuffed before dinner was served but all the entrees looked too amazing to pack home. The cornish hen with risotto was beautifully plated. It looked damn good. I had steak all week so I switched it up to the rack of lamb. It was the best lamb I’ve ever had ! The meat was tender, flavorful and plentiful! It was so good that I caught myself nibbling every piece of meat from the ribs. Most of the girls went with the 6 oz filet, who doesn’t love a good filet steak? You can’t go wrong with a filet. For a shared side, there was wild mushroom and truffle risotto. Someone said it was too«mushroomy» but I thought it was great. By now, everyone was stuffed and most of the girls took their dessert to go. Some of us made room and had a few bites of crème brûlée and a fantastic brownie topped with vanilla gelato. It was out of this world! Service was exceptional and they put up with a loud and crazy group of girls. The general manager came to check up on us and offered us a round of limoncello on the house. That was really sweet and generous of them. I had such a great time ! I laughed so much, Maybe next time we can check out the STRIP?.
