Sears Carpet Cleaning & Air Duct Cleaning

I have been wanting to get our carpet professionally cleaned for a while. We have quite clean carpet as the kids have never spilled anything on it etc. Only the bathroom carpet had stains from hair color which we didn’t expect to get it out with any cleaner. Given this situation, we thought Sears, a trusted name for appliances and other services would be a good choice. The guy came and spent about an 1.5 hours only upstairs (no carpet downstairs) although we have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (partial carpet near the sink). He sprayed something and got the carpet wet but the dark areas of the carpet along the periphery of each room didn’t even seem to get the solution! He claimed that it’s something to do with air filters and carbon deposit. Does the carbon deposit only sit on the periphery? How does it know that? wouldn’t it have been on any other part of the carpet? Within a few mins of the spraying, he vaccumed the carpet, basically left it wet but we SAW NO DIFFERENCE BUT FOR THE CARPET FEELING A LITTLE FLUFFY! When my family members rented a machine from HD and did it themselves, it was like night and day difference. Here, we shelled out close to $ 150 to see no difference. The guy talked nicely but gave me the impression that he is some young guy who gives no hoots about his job. I called customer svc and they offered to come back but what’s the point if they couldn’t remove one bit of the black soot like stuff on the edges of the carpet in all rooms. SHAME ON SEARS FOR SUCH LOUSY SERVICE. IF THEY CARE, THEY SHOULD READ ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS HERE AND CLEAN UP THEIR OWN ACT — PUN INTENDED!

I scheduled a couch cleaning, just a standard micro finer couch from art van. The tech showed up, and took a picture and sent to his manager. The manager said he couldn’t steam it, needs to be dry cleaned only. Stanley Steemer now has cleaned it. Thank you Stanley.

Terrible service. They left the carpet wet but not clean. I called them back a second time and still not clean, not even a little. They «cleaned“a 5000 sq foot house in less than an hour and quicker than anyone could vacuum it. They didn’t move any furniture and the tables and sofa were on sliders to move easily. I would never recommend them. This is a scam!

I have had a poor experience with the subcontractor currently being used by Sears to service the Detroit area.
At first the local Sears subcontractor was a bit slow to respond to messages left for scheduling an estimate. But a person did come and offered an excellent quote.
I scheduled a carpet cleaner to come to a retail shoe store on 4 consecutive Sundays in May 2013 starting on May 5, 2013.
The first time, the cleaner came but said he wasn’t told to bring a portable cleaner. He said he would return the following Sunday on May 12, 2013. I confirmed with his supervisor. The cleaner did not come and he did not answer his cell phone.
The supervisor apologized, offered a discount, and scheduled the same cleaner to come a third time on May 19, 2013. I confirmed with the supervisor, but the cleaner did not appear again and he did not answer his cell phone.
When I spoke to the supervisor again, he said the cleaner had quit on Saturday just before the May 19, 2013 appointment.
The supervisor offered to schedule a new cleaner to come on May 26, 2013. The new cleaner did not arrive and he did not call to check in.
During the month of May 2013, the supervisor did not call me back on multiple occasions like his workers said he would. I often wound up calling the supervisor after leaving a message.
The current subcontractor working for Sears in the Detroit area strikes me as being a fly-​by-​night operation with no organization.
I do not recommend using Sears home services.
