A limitless menu of absolutely ghastly food. There are 20 people in the kitchen making over 100 dishes, and nothing is ever done right. Even the pizza is atrocious. Many call this place«The Drive-Through Food Poisoning Stop» and with good reason. How can you keep 100 things fresh? Hold on to your receipts! Delivery drivers especially like to «round up» on tips!

First off it took an hour and twenty minutes from the time I ordered me food until the time I got my order at my house. I live maybe a 5 minute ride away. We got a BLT sandwich and it had more mayo than anything else. The chicken kabob salad was horrible the chicken was beyond dry even my dog wouldn’t eat it. The hamburger dinner was dry the fries were cold and the onion rings were horrible. The large roast beef was sopping in sauce and I asked for light sauce. Such an absolute waste of almost $ 50 plus tip if you value your hard earned money go somewhere else to enjoy your food because the prices are ridiculous for the quality you pay for. I just moved to Winthrop a couple months ago and this is the first and only time I will waste my money there!

This was terrible today and I order from Nick’s often. I’m really dissatisfied with today’s order. The seafood salad sub was so store bought tasting. The chicken wings were not marinated. They were breaded and not what I’ve had before. To top it off, delivery took over 2 hours. However, I do think this was due to GrubHub so I won’t put that blame on the restaurant. I hope the next time I try Nick’s, it’s better than this.

I’ve been to Nicks Place about a dozen times. Their food is ok, the calzones are good but their steak & cheese is not so good. Anyway, I’m only writing this so people know how rudely you the customer will be treated. It starts off on the initial phone call to place the order, you’re treated like you’re a nuisance when you call. They try to rush you off the phone almost immediately. You go to pick up your order, there are no ‘hellos’ or ‘thank yous’. No smiles, just a lot of negative energy. I think it starts from the top and works it’s way down. The owners really shouldn’t be yelling at their employees in front of customers, that’s just unprofessional. Like I said the food is ok, but everything else isn’t. Go elsewhere if you want to be treated how a paying customer should be treated.

Nick’s Place is great in the stomach, and great on the wallet. This is the place to go when you’re with a group, or alone, just looking for SOMETHING — anything(the menu is huge) to eat. The pizza is serious, calzones are filling, and you can’t go wrong with their specials. It’s a unique, friendly filled atmosphere where many locals seem to know one another. Go grab a slice; I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

I love Nick’s and I often find myself craving it from 3,000mi away. Currently experiencing lil pangs of jealously/hunger knowing that my fam can swing by Nick’s anytime they’d like– which is quiet often. My family has moved back to Winthrop which means the delectable steak tips & baklava will be within walking distance when I come home for a visit. Simple. No fuss. Qualify food. Keep doing what you do!

After being in Arizona for the last nine years, I was ever so excited to finally find a place to eat one of The North Shore’s finest inventions — the roast beef with sauce. If you’ve always lived in Massachusetts, you may not realize that you can’t get these sandwichs«just anywhere». I liked it so much I went there twice today.

I have been regularly eating Nicks(3 – 4 times a month) for what seems like 15 years now. The food is fantastic 95% of the time. I love their salads and steak tips(try the Honey BBQ over a Caesar Salad… trust me!). Sometimes the food may be a bit soggy or give you the occasional tummy rumble but when eating somewhere often you can’t expect perfection every time. So why only 3 stars? The staff. It seems that the only job requirement that Nicks management has in place for their mostly teen and college aged staff is this: A NASTYFREAKIN’ ATTITUDE. ALLTHETIME. EVERYTIME. At minimum, 1 out of 3 times I get Nicks, I leave swearing to never give them another dollar of my hard earned money because I am almost ALWAYS greeted with a smug and short attitude.(I am always pleasant to people who work in the service industry unless given reason otherwise). Customer service goes a long way.

Awesome! Chicken casadia wrap is out of this world! One word for me is consistent. This is a roast beef spot that exploded and well deserved. Fried food to perfection! Its the local food spot that will make you come again and again! Love this place!

I lived in Winthrop throughout my entire childhood and I remember when Nick’s Place was a tiny little hole in the wall place. My favorite sub was the Italian sub it was soo good ever since they’ve grown and with new people working I must say it isn’t the same. However, you are definitely going to find something that you enjoy, I highly recommend this place! I don’t live in Winthrop anymore but it is worth traveling too! My favorite now is the chicken kabob sub/calzone and the buffalo chicken calzone with their delicious fries. Sooo good and the price is pretty good!

I’ve only ever ordered sandwiches and calzones from here. They really do not skimp on the ingredients or portion sizes. The large calzone is literally enough for 5 – 6 full meals. And SO delicious. Definitely our go-to pizza place in Winthrop.

It saddens me that there are still restaurants out there that believe in having a huge menu will generate more customers. Also sad that there are customers out there that still believe that if a restaurant carries every single food item it must equate to an awesome food eating experience. Nick’s is such a place. Unfortunately this handicaps the cooks and disappoints the customer. Case in point. I ordered their mac & cheese. I got a watery flavorless cheese sauce on top of overcooked pasta. The warning signs are when you visit the restaurant. Most of the cooks look like young kids/adults trying to execute every Greek and American comfort food imaginable. Nick’s is not about cooking food but rather their concept, as with most restaurants with huge menus is what I call a «lego» concept. The lego concept is combining pre-cooked ingredients that they order outside and re-heat it with minimal cooking. Lots of these type of restaurants normally carry frozen prepared ingredients along with prepared canned items. They believe that by doing this they can hire unskilled young teenagers to simply combine these ingredients and pass it off as «comfort» food. A real experienced chef will struggle mightily cooking every 30 plus food items on this menu. Hence most restaurants with great reviews tend to have smaller menus. Those chefs can quickly execute their main dishes using fresh ingredients. As a result customers consistently get good food. At Nick’s one day you will get a hamburger cooked correctly the next time you will get an overcooked hamburger that is flavorless and tough like leather. Seasoning is also a skill that takes chefs years to master. Especially when it comes to salt. Most young cooks don’t execute this well. They forget to season each ingredient of the recipe. Going back to the hamburger at Nicks you will n notice this easily. The meat has no salt. The tomatoes have no salt, The lettuce has no salt. So when they combine all these 3 things together they expect that it would taste full of flavor. They are wrong. Meat needs salt before cooking. During the cooking process the salt helps in tenderizing the meat by removing the water content. It is this process that brings out the flavor of the meat. If a restaurant ever tells you they don’t add salt to their food for health reasons run away. Run very far away. Those places don’t understand the fundamental concept of basic cooking. Finally, comfort food requires cooking of all ingredients fresh from scratch. Including their tomato sauce which by the taste of it comes straight from a can which they throw on top of a pizza. The sauce is bland and lifeless. If Nick’s cut down their menu and concentrated on either Greek food or Comfort food with a well trained chef this place would be awesome.

I try to swing by Nick’s whenever I’m in the Winthrop area. It’s comfort food. And they do it right. The menu is diverse and the prices are very reasonable to boot! Besides pizza and sandwiches, they make all kinds of seafood, pasta dishes, lamb, ribs, steak tips — you name it. They probably have it on the menu. And their chicken soup is loaded with big pieces of chicken. If you’re anywhere near Nick’s… Give them a try!

My boyfriend and I live in Winthrop and order from Nick’s all the time. Never again. After being cooped up due to the storm last night/all day today, we decided to venture out and see if we could grab some food outside of our apartment. I called Nick’s and asked the employee who answered if they were open and he told me yes — come on in! We bundled up and made the trek on foot to get out of the house and grab some hot food. NOPE. Walked in(door totally unlocked) and one of the women who worked there literally just stared at us with a dirty look in dead silence and said nothing. Eventually, after we stood there awkwardly, another person came out and said they closed 20 minutes before that. You would think that the first person would have mentioned the shortened hours… or that the person GLARING at us would have said they were closed without watching us stand there for 5 minutes… I guess that’s too much to ask. Thanks, Nick’s! Never again. Ever.

Ordered a corn chowder after swearing them off for over a year after previously getting sick. Got a little gift inside the chowder which people could only describe as looking like a mouse. Called to inform them and got NO apology, and a 5.00 gift card because they could not refund my card. NEVER again. Disgusting.

Ordered for the first time tonight. Regret. Food is cold and soggy, took an hour(I live within a 5 min drive), and the driver was clearly high. Massive regret.

Update: Don’t try to order your pizza early on Mondays pizza special. I ordered at 4:30, and didn’t get it until about 6:20. I know they’re busy, but they can at least make sure the pizza they make is cut well enough into slices and not going to stick to the box without its own pizza thing. And most people go nuts after one hour wait, i still tipped at nearly 2. Do better guys. Although this pizza is so good your coworkers will eat it whether or not its your future lunch or not. Excellent food here. I order it all the time now that I work in close proximity and there aren’t too many places that will deliver where I work. The Steak Tips on the Salad are huge and plentiful! Although the salad sizes arent that big, the toppings are. The Chicken on the Salad is just the same. The calzones here are humongous and can feed more people that their menu suggests. I recommend any calzone, because they do it right. The prices may be a little higher, but you’re getting a good portion of food. At least I think so. Only downside is that the delivery guys don’t navigate that well and sometimes you don’t get your food in the time they tell you. Something they may want to set a goal to.

DOYOULIKETOVOMIT? There’s been a lot of victim’s of Nick’s Place’s food. The board of heath gets so many complaints that they’ll need to move next door. I was one of their victims a few months back. I ordered a chicken parm dinner that appeared as if it were BLASTED in the microwave for days on end. Leave it on the table for an hour and it’s still hot. There’s one guy in the back that makes sure nobody’s looking and he throws your food in the microwave while you’re not looking. When I let my food cool down, it was one big container of grease. I was a little scared to eat it. Anyway, the next day I woke up feeling as if I was dying. Then I went into the bathroom and vomited. All the employees look miserable, especially in the summer. It becomes a real life sweatshop come June. All their hair is absolutely soaked in grease. Maybe that’s why so many customers get sick from their greasy ass food.
