The Other Place

Well as being a long time patron of the Other Place, and that means I have eaten there from the day it opened. I feel I need to comment about the current state of the food. Now I have travel around the country and have always boasted on the Pizza at the Other Place in Winthrop Harbor. I went back yesterday and ordered a thin half Peperoni — Half Sausage, and it was not even close to the standards it once was — the sauce did not have the same flavor it was just a bland normal pizza. I do think that maybe they could be cutting corners to save some money so that the owner can go on vacations and buy new toys. The place is also becoming run down and starting to look more and more like a just a hole. I will now have to look for another favorites pizza — No matter how you slice it, this one just wont do.

Just not good anymore. Better ask for extra sausage or you’ll be scrounging around trying to find a piece.

This place has excellent food! From their delivery pizza and wings (which we do often) to their Friday night fish. We eat their food regularly and have NEVER been disappointed!

Ordered a pizza special, but asked if the sausage could be be put on only one side. Waitress said sure, but when the pizza came, there was minimal sausage on one side only, and not the extra from the other side as ordered. When the bill came, there was an extra $ 1.50 charge, apparently for changing their «special.» In effect, we paid MORE for LESS. The waitress did not bother to inform us that we would be charged extra, which she should have known to do, if this is indeed the restaurant’s policy. I do not appreciate a restaurant that cannot make small accommodations like this without charging extra, and I will happily take my business elsewhere. Oh, and Matt V, is correct, the fish fry is not good.

Wednesday’s hamburger lunch special was great! It was well worth the price…

If I could rate it zero stars, I would.
After being a customer for 2+ years, I can say that this is easily the worst pizza place I’ve ever been to. When my fiancé and I drive up to Kenosha or Racine, we like to stop here for either pizza or burgers. I’m not sure if it is their new staff or new management or what, but over the past few months the service has gotten increasingly worst. We’re not above waiters and waitresses: I understand that everyone is human and we all make mistakes. But this was the last straw after months of ridiculous mistakes. We hadn’t eaten all day and looking forward to our food. After an HOUR AND 30 MINUTES of waiting, the waitress (her name was Valerie) said she was super busy and forgot to put in our order. Again, we knew this was complete BS because the restaurant was empty, the only people in there was a couple who came in after us and were paying the bill. On top of that, she took forever to let us talk to the manager and was expecting us to pay for our drinks after her terrible service. This was the last time after a string of horrible experiences. It’s worth driving a little further north to Kenosha to find a better place with good pizza and customer service. Would not recommend.

Still, the pizza is great, but they have now moved down the street to that restaurant with the lighthouse. It is a much better place to visit now!

Very laid back, and good, friendly service and atmosphere. Super affordable too.

Never went to the old location but have been there many times since they moved to the Lighthouse. Double decker pizza is the best we’ve had – we take our out-​of-​town guests there. Friday fish fry is also a favorite, especially the catfish.

Awesome pizza I always get a large and take the rest home to eat cold at work it’s great the first day but even better the next

Kind of a hole in the wall for a dine in place but by far some of the best double decker pizza I have ever had.
I am from the area and when I go back to visit I always think I should stop in and bring some home!

We have done take out many times and highly recommend their stuffed pizza. If you are going their for dinner go very casual, it’s small and laid back. Haven t tried anything other than the pizza but the place is usually pretty full. For beer geeks, the selection is limited.
