I pretty much do all of my grocery shopping at Public. Unfortunately, whenever I have negative experiences, it’s at this particular one. Some of the cashiers are lacking customer service etiquette. Additionally, it seems like name tags are being hidden purposely. This is my last visit to this branch.

This review is for newcomers and northern visitors because locals know about Publix and its history. They’ve got what I want. Clean. Shopping really is a pleasure. It’s not Walmart thank God. I buy Greenwise chicken here but no other meat. Too expensive and not good enough quality meat compared to even Winn Dixie. I know it’s a cliché’ but the atmosphere, cleanliness, and service-oriented staff are important. They have the best veggies and deli of all the chains in Florida.

Publix, or Pubelix as I like to call it, sucks. The reason: way too expensive for no good reason, and lacking personality and atmosphere. There’s something about these 90s-style supermarkets that is both sterile and a rip off. Albertsons, Food Lion, Tops; they all fall into the same category. The one in Winter Haven is no exception. I’ve been lucky enough to live in the Northeast(Wegmans) and California(Cardenas), two places that have big, successful supermarkets that are way cheaper than Pubelix. They’re out there. I figure as soon as we get a Trader Joe’s or some such, Pubelix will wither away at the hands of economics.
