Great food– extremely consistent. I’ve been here at least 5 or 6 times and have not yet been disappointed. That being said, do not come here and expect the best service in the world but the wait staff is friendly regardless. There is just a slight language barrier. Highly recommend this place if you want delicious authentic Mexican food.

good tacos, quick service. Some spanglish is a good thing to know. Lengua was on point.

This was the first Mexican restaurant I tried when I moved down here to Winston Salem. Authentic Mexican food is always the best. You definitely get that here. The place is big and open. Nothing fancy but cool and comfortable. A nice bar in the back too. Food is great. Fresh and delicious. Love the nachos but who doesn’t.

Popped in while driving through town. Chips with multiple amazing salsas(verde, pico, reg, etc) all were yummy. I ordered the Tostadas de Ceviche. I love ceviche and this one did not disappoint. Had almost an entire sliced avocado on top. Will for sure be back.

I was the only customer in here at 5:00. The three tacos I ordered weren’t the tacos I received. The service was so slow I decided not to say anything. When I was done eating, I waited and waited for someone to come back to the table. I was going to order a dessert. I eventually walked to the cash register without my bill. The guy behind the counter was sound asleep. When the waitress came over with the bill, I said that I had wanted to order a dessert. She said okay, then walked away. The guy at the register woke up. When he asked if everything was okay, I told him that I had hoped to order a dessert but no one ever came to check on me. He said nothing. When I laughed, he said, «Sorry about that,» with such boredom that it was clear he didn’t care. And that was that.

If I could give this place a zero star I would. This is the WORST Mexican food I have ever had. The only good part of the meal were the chips and dip. The chorizo con queso took twenty minutes to get and it was soooooo small and cost $ 4. The rice had no flavor and I think it was store bought. The refrained beans also had no flavor and were soupy they were obviously from a can. The margaritas had no tequila. Worst ciñco de mayo meal. Never coming back even if they paid me!

The food is tasty. I ordered a Molcajete, and when it came it was very tasty, the portion was big, it even had a chile toreado and plenty of tortillas. Service was good, our«mesera» checked on us 6! times. The problem with this place is the cleanliness: the floors were dirty and the bathrooms worse. It made me wonder what the kitchen looked like… When I brought to the manager attention he immediately sent someone to clean the bathroom, but since he was at the register he could see the floors were dirty… Will come back but check bathrooms before ordering…

I’ve been going here for a few years. I tried it the first time because of all the Mexicans that frequented the joint, assuming it must be authentic. One of the previous reviewers mentioned a gringo menu and a latino menu, which is true although they are the same document. You can tell which items are which and I recommend sticking with the latino menu. Be adventurous. The décor is pretty standard, although the remodeled a bit ago. Before it was like walking into Hollister for a taco. Which was kinda cool. Service is always fast, if a bit curt. That’s okay though. Immediately after being seated, you will be presented with the obligatory chips and salsa, but also with several other condiments like salsa verde, some kind of hot, yes, hot sauce, limes, and whatnot. I wish they would present the opportunity to decline some or all of the extras as they usually go to waste. But the service is so fast… you get what I mean. The menu is diverse. I like the coctel de camaron with extra cilantro. LIke I said previously, take a liking to the latino side and be adventurous. Real Mexican food isn’t ground beef drowning in nacho cheese wrapped in a tortilla. The food really is good for the most part. Practice your Spanish. Cheap beer. Decent margaritas. First time I’ve ever been served a can of Tecate with a lime. First time I had to drive SWMBO home after one medium margarita. Overall, fairly close to the real thing as far as gringo goes. The staff is very fast, but not terribly friendly. And the prices are so-so. I do wish they’d turn the music down a bit. Take a flyer, you’ll be alright.

Mediocre food, mediocre service, institutional décor, bathroom filthy, music way too loud, menus that don’t match, need I say more? There are MUCH better places than this in Winston…

Went in for lunch on a Saturday. Not busy at all. The place could use some cleaning. Horchata was good, soda was flat. Should have tried the tortas but had the tacos de pastor– the tortillas were really good. There are other better places around Winston.

Very delicous tortas. Mybhusband had the beef torta and I had the chicken torta. Really like the assortment of condiments served with dinner: limes, cilantro jalepeno sauce, chipolte sauce and salsa. The cheese dip was very good. Service was friendly and food came out fast. Great deal for the money. Don’t be fooled by the lack luster exterior and dark interior — the food is great.

We’ve been gong to Guadalajara since it opened, many years ago. We’ve always enjoyed their food. They provide not only salsa, but three other sauces to flavor the food. We’ve tried their tacos, fajitas and they are very good. But we consistently get their chicken chimichanga and chile relleno — both very delicious. I haven’t had a better chimichanga in town. The service is fast and no-nonsense. Prices are extremely reasonable. We’ve tried other Mexican restaurants in town but we always come back here.

Total mixed bag here. What is good is very, very good and what is bad is better not ordered again. This place is the second of the WS quartet of Mexican restaurants that I want to try, already tried Señor Bravo earlier, with similar mixed results. The place is a little dark, and decorated in the typical Mexican restaurant way. The service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. The chips were nice, the salsa lacked any real kick, lacking cilantro or heat. The rice was well prepared but also lacked any real flavor; the beans, on the other hand, were creamy with a lot of flavor. The Chicken Enchiladas Verde were excellent, with plenty of very flavorful chicken, and an great verde sauce, loaded with cilantro and tomatillo taste. The Chili Relleno was among the strangest I’ve encountered — rather than just coated in an egg batter, the poblano chili was encased in what can only be described as an omelet, overpowering the chili and its cheese content. The Shredded Beef Burrito was filled with beef in a sauce that was strong, and not an entirely pleasant taste. Didn’t see enough good here to return. Others may have a different experience.

Two words: Torta Cubana. The tacos are pretty good(not quite as good as Las Estrellas), and the quesadillas are large enough to hide a family of illegal immigrants from an angry mob of pitchfork-wielding rednecks. But the Torta Cubana is one of the best sandwiches I’ve tried in a while. It’s huge; definitely enough to be split over two meals. The pork has a slightly overpowering flavor, so you may prefer to leave it off, but this is a giant kitchen-sink sandwich, and at about $ 8 is a decent value. I have one problem with this place. They bring not only chips and salsa to the table, but also a selection of 4 – 5 other items. There’s salsa verde, lime wedges, salsa roja, pico de gallo… and perhaps a few more that I’m forgetting. By the end of a typical meal, most of these condiments have not been eaten. And because it’s not as if I will just dump it all on top of my leftovers in the styrofoam box, they’ll end up in the trash. They don’t really give you a chance to tell them only to bring what you plan to eat because the chips arrive at your table just after being seated, and I haven’t thought to ask if they have small cups with lids to take the items to-go. I just hate wasting the stuff. Also, service here is hit-or-miss. On our last visit, I asked for a napkin 3 – 4 times and waited for an eternity for the check. But I think our waitress was also working the bar, so that might explain it. Overall, 7⁄10.

This is a review for Guadalajara Taqueria on Peters Creek. I’ve been to Guadalajara many times. Since the majority of Mexican food is so bad in Winston, this place stands out. But that’s not saying much. They have essentially two menus: one for latinos and the other for gringos. No, it’s not a separate document, the items just seem to cater to two different types of clientele. For instance there are two types of tacos: 1. the hard-shell, ground beef kind(like Taco Bell), and 2. the soft tortilla with chopped meat, onions and cilantro(like the kind you get from a street vendor in any mexican city). I usually stick to the more«mexican» styled items and am usually happy. The food has been hit and miss at times. The tacos have ranged from fresh and fantastic to «just palatable». Probably the case of when we went, who was cooking, and time of day. They have good, fresh tortilla chips and(usually) good red and green salsa. I prefer it over Las Estrellas for the main fact of the clientele. Guadalajara serves a majority spanish speaking customer while Las Estrellas has a majority gringo fanbase. That tells me ALOT. However, Las Estrellas serves cheap pitchers of beer! That said, if either of these restaurants were located in a latino-heavy city in Texas, Arizona or California, they wouldn’t survive. But for Winston, it’s as good as you’ll get, and both staffs are ultra-friendly.
