We recently attended a couple services at St. John’s. Growing up in a St. John’s church, I was excited to find one here in Winston.
Pros:
— Close by to us
— Every one was VERY friendly
— Pretty church, comfortable pews, projector AND bulletins
— Offers traditional and more contemporary services
— Starting time for traditional service was 10:45 (Yay! We’re NOT morning people)
Cons:
— 1.5 hour service, regardless if you are having communion or not. (That is LOOOONG in my book, especially with a 6 month old infant). I prefer to keep them to about an hour.
— Did not really «get» the sermon one Sunday. Sat there thinking «WHAAAAAT???» for the hour-​long sermon. Maybe it was just me.
After visiting this church, we attended another Lutheran church in the Winston-​area to compare the two and have decided that the other church was more our style. We would recommend this church to those who like a long, traditional service with a friendly congregation and Pastor.
