First time at DB with the new menu. I had the gambas with sea scallops. Great flavor and a decent sized portion. There are a lot of things on the new menu that looked interesting so I will definitely be back. They have a good beer selection and the bartenders are all friendly and accommodating. Pricing not bad either. Definitely a neighborhood gem tucked away in quiet Buena Vista.

I have dined at Diamond Back Grill dozens of times but I generally prefer to have a drink at the bar, which has brought me there more frequently for that purpose alone. The food has never impressed me. But I liked the atmosphere. Because this is a neighborhood favorite, I think sometimes establishments are able to skate by on details. On my visit last night, I sat at the bar as usual. The service was good. The menu is overly ambitious, and I ordered a garden salad and my guest ordered the oyster salad. The oysters were fried nicely, and the spinach was fresh but they failed to include any other ingredients in the dish, such as bacon. Unfortunately, the bacon dressing was rank and clearly spoiled. The dressing for my salad, called Café Vinaigrette, was supposed to be a vinaigrette, but it was a gloppy mass of stale coagulated gunk. The flavor was horrific, it tasted like the bottom of a large salad dressing container from Sysco. Clearly there was no interest in creating homemade dressings, which is quite simple. Because we ordered the dressings on the side we spared ourselves the misfortune of consuming too much of these substances. We were fortunate to have some oil and balsamic vinegar available. But what really inspired me to write this review and give this establishment one star, was the condition of the restrooms. I can only speak for the male restroom. It is disgusting and as you enter it reeks of urine. The kind of smell that clearly has existed for a long period of time. I cannot believe that the health department has not been notified of the unsanitary conditions at diamondback grill. I was absolutely appalled. I cannot recall. a restroom that I have seen in such an unhealthy condition in quite some time. I feel it is me incumbent upon me to alert the county officials to the conditions of this restroom and I took a picture to document the conditions.

My salad was great… I noticed 2 James Taylor and a CSN on the soundtrack within an hour, the rest similar, so I’m guessing 50 – 60 is the target audience. I thought it was an expensive meal.

This was a great place, and I wish I could give 5 stars but it just wasn’t quite up to my 5 star standards. The ambience was very nice, however when first walking in there is no hostess table or sign to wait for a waitress, its a bit confusing. Also The location is very random, but the food was good. So much to choose from, hot dogs to crab cakes. I ordered the shrimp and crab chowder and it was amazing, not too creamy or watery. Next, I judge places by salads. They had a nice list, but nothing stood out to me except for the filet mignon Napoleon salad. It was very good, but The steak was a bit tough to be considered filet. The greens were good but not quite my definition of mixes greens. Others ordered sandwiches, catch of the day, and salads and seemed to enjoy their meals without complaint. My only other gripe was that seating did not really seem to accommodate our 5 party because we had to squeeze three people on The Booth side of a 4 person table. Odd BC there were only a few other guests(maybe 5) and lots of open tables for 7pm on a Friday. All in all, good bang for your Buck and nice quality food I would recommend to anyone!

I am from out of town visiting family and glad we found the diamondback grill. Very pleasant atmosphere. We had adults, teenagers and grandma, and there was something for everyone. This would be a good place to come with friends after work. I started with a fried oyster appetizer, Cesar salad, and a steak special. Very well prepared and reasonably priced. I also had a side of crab meat hush puppies which were really good. Diamondback is a gem of a neighborhood restaurant. I wish I lived closer.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant with an attached bar. The wife and I ate there recently and had an overall good experience. The wife ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to her satisfaction. I had the seafood platter with fried crabcake, shrimp and flounder. The crabcake was very well put together with large chunks of crab and good flavor balance. Shrimp were quite tasty. The flounder was a bit bland. Perhaps the best part(and definitely the biggest surprise) was the broccoli and tomato side — fantastically delicious, well-cooked and just the right amount of salt too. Waitstaff was very good — our glasses never became more than half empty. Our waitress was friendly and good with kids too. The menu seemed a little pricy compared to similar restaurants about town, but not ridiculously so(maybe 10% over the average I’ve seen). Overall, worth checking out; we’ll return occasionally.

Great food, a little pricey. Had the ribeye steak — cooked perfectly(medium rare). Party of 4 cost right at $ 100(no wine or dessert but a shared appetizer and 4 entrees). A good place to go with good friends and enjoy a night. A little dark though. One of my guests actually used a lighter to be able to read the menu!

Had an excellent bacon-wrapped filet mignon. So-so wine list and clunky wine glasses.

When we arrived my wife requested a booth table, the waiter told us that one we want has not been cleaned yet and gave us another one. After 5 min we saw other customers sitting on that same table and no one of the waiters came even close to it!!! One of the menu items was not priced, so I asked and the waiter answered: $ 24.00 when we got the check she put 26, so I told her that there is a mistake here and she said that yes she did a mistake by telling me 24 but the real price is 26 and she did not change it on the bill!!! This restaurant suck. The waiter told me that the tuna is sushi grade. That was not even toilet grade. Very small tuna portion and the plate was full of other useless and disscussting stuff. My wife ordered ribs and u can’t even chew the meet. Our son is 10month old, he made some noise(playing, being happy) we heard someone from the staff shuuuuushhhing him!!! I would not recommend this restaurant. It smells mold! Dishonest staff and not worth it at all. One more thing: they have drink specials on their website, si i mentioned the special for the day which was Wednesday: Michelob Draft Pints — $ 2.50 and the waiter told me that there are no specials for the day!!! That’s what a waiter should do to get a lot of tips :)

Diamondback is one of those places you go to when you want to feel out of place and old. It is almost like a parody of itself. It is a neighborhood grill in the middle of the college area, but rarely do the students ever visit it. I kid you not, last time I ate there, there were two couples, sharing a bottle of wine, who toasted to «good friends.» The men sat quietly as the women gossiped. I was dying. And then I opened the menu. The food sounded good. Really good. But the prices? $ 26 for a pork chop? We are in Winston-Salem, one of the cheapest cities in the US. This isn’t New York. I decided to give my wallet a rest and ordered a tuna wrap with a wasabi slaw that was sure to summon the pain only Satan himself could administer when I ate it. Sure enough, my eyes watered, my nose ran, and my bowels the next morning were as fiery as Hell itself. The couples dinner beside me had the pork chop. It looked so good. Who knows, right? Diamondback gets 2 stars only because I can’t give 2.5 on this site, and 3 stars would be too much. The food is good, but for the ambiance, décor, and prices(oh my god), I would have expected much more. Hit up Bernardans, Milners, or somewhere else if you want to drop some serious ca$hmoney.

Have not been here in years. Place is really showing its age. Food tastes like it was all frozen and reheated and way overpriced. Twenty six dollars for five shrimp, and three scallops? Was really disappointed. It may be a neighborhood bar, but is quickly becoming a neighborhood dive bar.

This place has great food, and a ton of really unique seafood options, so I’m a huge fan. The waiter was fabulous; very knowledgeable and attentive. I think that the atmosphere is a little mismatched with the quality of food that is served. The food seems upscale, yet you are sitting in a tiled floor, diner-type place. Confusing, yet not too bothersome.

Pricey, slumming for the well to do. I had to leave before eating. Menu looked more like chef prepared stuff. Slacks and a pullover sweater type dress. expensive commoner type food. IE a sloppy joe would be called«a Disheveled Joseph»

My favorite neighborhood bar type place. The restaurant is divided into two halves. The«left» half is fancier, more like a restaurant. The menu is the same in both halves, but the left half has only tables and chairs. The«right» half is *my* half. It has the same tables and chairs, but it also has the square bar, with stools on two sides, and a fireplace with couches on a third side… it has 3 or 4 TVs, one a large screen, making it a sort of sports bar. The food is outstanding. Everything from steaks to burgers to fish to veggie trend of the month. As the restaurant is in the upscale Buena Vista neighborhood, the soccer mom’s rule the menu, but there’s plenty here for stockbroker dad and for Biff seeking relief from frat food. Yes, they have Red Oak on tap. If you have small kids, this is the best restaurant in Winston-Salem for food quality, room to stretch out, and linoleum floors ;-)

This place is pretty good, one of the nicer places to eat in WS. Its tucked away in this little neighborhood, very cute! They have this amazing shrimp and crab bisque as the soup of the day sometimes. That alone is worth going for. The rest of the menu has a nice selection of seafood and meat entrees as well as salads and sandwiches. I like getting a salad and adding a crab cake.

Im trying to find a sixth star. My company’s Christmas party was here a couple days ago. Im not one to mix it up with a crowd of people but God am I glad I went. We didn’t have our own room but I don’t think any of the other diners minded the fifty of us enjoying the open bar and meal. First place in WS I’ve found Sierra Nevada on tap. Mind you I dont drink but hey its a Christmas party. I had the filet mignon rare and you could cut it with a feather. Pretty dish it was set on smashed potatoes with three aldente asparagus spears. Hey! This is the south! We like our veggies overcooked and mushy. But they were good nonetheless. Desert was chocolate cake made with cocoa from Ghana — a special request for my coworker who grew up there. Hi Seth!!! Service was 110%. Never did my wine glass or Sierra get less than half full. The location was awesome too. Set in a residential neighborhood. No strip mall or shopping multiplex here. Just a nice small restaurant that goes above and beyond any other restaurant in the area. Will be back over and over.

A nice local restaurant close to Wake Forest University. We started with the Artichoke Soufflé, Nachos and Snow Crab Appetizers. I tried the North Carolina Crab Cakes, one of their specialty dishes. They were served on a bed of rice with asparagus. Others in my party ordered the BBQ ribs, tuna entrée(it looked delicious) and grilled portabella sandwich. We finished off our meal with their Bourbon Pecan Pie, Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Cake.
