While in town on vacation I had Camino Bakery on my list of places to go based on the many 5 star Unilocal reviews. First of all, I don’t think I just was unlucky and had a bad experience but that this place is just average. We ordered a flat latte, hot chocolate, cinnamon roll and apricot orange roll. The latte came out with foam and had to be remade(guessing lack of communication between the cashier and barista) the cinnamon roll was dry and the hot cocoa was your average run of the mill hot cocoa, however; the apricot chocolate roll was one of those things you go back for. Sweet, rich and slightly bitter one of the better pastries I’ve had(hence the 3 stars). Also the woman who took our order seemed almost annoyed that she had to do her job. There is nothing worse than going to a coffee shop in the morning and being created by a less than friendly person as it sets the mood for the whole day. Fun, nice and spunky would have made for a much better experience and who knows maybe I would have liked this place better but as for now, next time I’m in town I’ll head on over to Starbucks.

I didn’t really know how hipster Winston-Salem was until I walked in here. Young millennials everywhere studying with the occasional gym goers stopping by to get their latté. Modern décor and chill music in the background. A decent size seating that you most Iikely will share with someone when it gets busy. Tried their winter drink PEPPERMINTMOCHA which was tasty but the peppermint was lacking. It has an initial taste of peppermint but disappears when the mocha immediately takes over. As for the Red Velvet cheesecake… It was alright. Flavor was decent but it was a little too moist if that makes sense. Nice coffee shop overall.

I love Camino! I’m the type of person who would be willing to walk a mile to the ‘right’ coffee shop, even if there’s one directly in front of me. So, I was really happy to discover Camino when I moved to Winston. This is a cute coffee shop, with great coffee, cozy ambiance, great selection of desserts and reliable wifi(this is important, as I often bring my laptop here to work). What’s not to love about it?! I do wish they have bigger space though. The place gets really crowded on weekends. But the crowd is part of the appeal, I guess

Krankies coffee is yum. Good selection of pastries. The flourless quiche was very tasty. Busy in the morning rush hour but overall good atmosphere.

Vegan chicken salad sammy is A+!! Seasonal drinks are a lot of fun! I just always seem to go when there are no vegan baked goods.

Best coffee shop in the Piedmont triad, and just a really great place to sit down, enjoy 4th street and have great coffee and pastries. Definitely a must try if you are in Winston!

I was really excited to try out Camino one night after dinner but left very disappointed. My group and I purchased a ginger lemon cookie, tiramisu cupcake, Black Mountain sipping chocolate, and a couple of other drinks. The cookie was very good as well as the sipping chocolate, which I have sampled before. I also stole a sip of my husband’s apple spiced cider and my brother’s French toast latte and both of those drinks were great as well. What left the bad taste in my mouth is the jerk of a barista we encountered. When we went up to the counter we weren’t offered any sort of greeting or warmth whatsoever by the barista. No words were even spoken to us… so we started placing our orders and with each item we ordered, she would roll her eyes. It was extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing. It was the closest you can get to saying«I HATEYOU» with your actions. She didn’t even quote my brother on his price. just grabbed his Visa card and slid it. While preparing drinks and getting the baked goods we ordered, she was slamming things and acting aggressively towards our poor cookie and cupcake… they became her little punching bags I want to note that we did nothing to our knowledge to provoke this sort of behavior. We weren’t being loud or obnoxious. We weren’t asking questions or being annoying or indecisive. We weren’t really doing anything other than ordering politely and respectfully with«pleases» and«thank yous». The only pleases and thank-you’s that were uttered were from our end of the counter. We were treated so disrespectfully by this lady. I understand that people have bad days, but you cannot behave that way when you are in the customer service realm. In spite of how good the product was, I will never return and this young lady made it clear that she never wanted us setting foot in that place again. I guess all my fellow Unilocalers and Elites frequent this place when this beast isn’t working.

Dropping my review. The wifi never works and honestly other the almond horns and the chocolate croissants are good but not for the price. The service can be spotty at times and no nutritional info available. I want to support a local pace especially a local vegetarian place but this is just not that great once the novelty wears off.

Best bakery and possibly best coffee shop in Winston-salem. They make a delightful flat white and specialty latte. They use Krankies beans which are never burnt. The have great pastries and breads as well. Get a scone or a Blondie bar. Great gluten free options as well.

I go to Caminos a lot and overall I am a fan. However, I go a lot less due to inconsistency. CONS: Baked goods can be hit or miss. one week the cake can be amazing and the next salty or chalky. The lattes are good, but if the latte usually has cinnamon or any topping, they should always be on them. There’s been quite a few times certain toppings were not put on their drinks. The service is hit or miss. Half the staff are great, but there’s the other half who everyone knows as detached or unenthusiastic. The prices are a bit high and could be knocked down at least 50 cents. Lastly, there are almost no outlets for those using computers… kind of annoying PROS: The drinks are great. I have never not liked something I had there. I highly recommend the earl grey latte. The display and selection is very helpful and exciting! The seasonal menus are a nice change to keep new drinks coming through. Overall I will continue to go to Caminos I’m just selective!

Adorable and cozy work space. I came for 3 hours and got a ton of work done, thanks to the delicious coffee and amazing flourless quiche. I am not gluten-free and usually avoid gluten-free products, but the toppings sounded amazing(spinach, goat cheese, grilled onions, cheddar) so I gave it a try — and it was SOGOOD! The crust was awesome and nutty, and the quiche was very filling. Also loved the seasonal drink — it wasn’t too sweet. I got the Autumn Spice Miel and was super pleased. Can’t wait to come back!

Favorite place to study. They use Krankie’s coffee which is already good in itself, but they also make their own syrups. In addition they have various other mixed drinks and wine specials that are something to definitely take note of. The food here is also perfect for anything from a quick treat to a cheesy quiche. They also have options for people that are vegetation and gluten-free, so they are very diet friendly. Awesome place to go, whether at night or during the day! Staff is also very friendly and seem to have a blast working there.

Since I got to Wake Forest University 3 years ago, Camino has been my favorite off-campus spot. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and inviting. Though it is sometimes requires waiting on people to leave to grab seats(maybe not great for groups), I and my friends always find it worth a short wait. They have a variety of pretty well-made coffee drinks, as well as draught beer and some wine. The pastries are out of this world, my favorite being a heated almond brioche. If you’re in Winston-Salem, you need to go try this place!

Only been here once and was impressed. We only bought their bread on our first trip and it was so good. I got the Challah bread to make French Toast and purchased the Chipotle Cheese Bread. Both were fresh baked and served their purpose. The Chipotle is hot but I love hot peppers in most things. We will definitely try the desserts Caminio offers on our next visit.

I love Camino! I love that we finally have a good place to get dessert downtown! Camino has a wonderful assortment of cheesecakes, eclairs, muffins, cookies, and more. We went here after dinner on a Saturday, and we were just able to sit and talk and watch everyone walk by. Such a great place and a fun atmosphere!

What’s not to love about this place? It’s a bakery… and a coffee shop… that serves alcohol… with a nice selection of gluten-free options… and outdoor seating… downtown. Oh, and did I mention they serve Krankies coffee? And, they have wine tastings and other special events from time to time. I heart Camino! Oh, and one last thing… Queen of Sheba cake. Trust me.

Nice little bakery/coffee/wine bar. In the heart of Winston-Salem. Great pastries and the coffee wasn’t too bad. They have wine for the wine lovers too. Comfortable atmosphere. Love the artwork all over the walls. An artists coffee haven.

Every time I come to this place, I experience something different. I remember the first time I came here, I believe my first drink was the«ginger molasses latte,» a fall drink(and possibly one of my favorite drinks overall). Camino has an overwhelming selection of delicious pastries, cakes, and house-made bread. Their cinnamon buns are out of this world! If you’re not the coffee type, they serve other drinks as well. Camino also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have only been fortunate enough to be here around dinner time, and I have on more than one occasion enjoyed a slice of tomato pie; it has just enough cheese and just enough tomatoes to create a simple yet elegant harmony upon the rich crust. As for the alcohol, I can’t say much(but I’ll be able to in about 2 years :) I’ll let you know ;D Lastly, I believe Camino is worth visiting, not only for their victuals, but also to the end of supporting local business. Sure, you can go to a big chain like Starbucks or Caribou to get your fix, but I can guarantee what you get from them in product or customer service will not even compare with all you can receive from Camino. Camino is a great little coffeehouse/bakery, with great ambience. It is a cozy little place, great for work, study, or just visiting with a close friend. Come to Camino. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I spend a large amount of time here: free wi-fi, coffee, beer, wine, the best people-watching spot on «Restaurant Row»(ie. 4th Street) and pastries? Puh-leeze! You can’t get much better than all of that. IMO the best thing Camino does is the bread. Over a dozen different fresh breads made daily ranging from sourdough to French country loaf to brioche and cinnamon raisin… are all excellent. It’s half-priced after 8pm and BOGO all day on Sundays. Pair that with half-priced cheesecake on Tuesdays and specialty handmade coffee beverages using Krankies coffee, it’s the perfect marriage of everything cool and hipster-ish in Winston-Salem. The pastries are a little overpriced(I’m not but that’s the price you pay for all of the great benefits of a great location with great perks.
