Road trip from Oregon required a fuel and lunch stop on Sunday, Valentine’s Day and it was jammed. Ordered chicken soup and it was terrific. Staff was attentive and friendly. Great spot.

Let me start by saying I’m a Chef and Restaurant Owner. I am always eager to let a business know when they are doing it right, because not many are anymore. These guys are definitely doing it right. Quick and friendly service and GREATFOOD! I had the Molcajete, which I was pleased to see on the menu since not many places do it anymore!

To be honest, I didn’t really have high expectations for Mexican in Northern Nevada. I expected it to be bland and boring. The menu is pretty standard which is exactly what I expected, but the flavors were great and the service was impeccable. I really enjoyed the wooden theme inside too. My friend didn’t really like the place but I would definitely go back if I ever went back to Winnemucca!

Might be the best Mexican food I have ever had. Period. Sooooo good. I have stopped here many times on road trips back and forth from Utah & California. Love the enchiladas, tacos, and I got an amazing breakfast burrito called miners burrito with the verde sauce. Highly recommend!

We found this place on Unilocal as we were driving through and we’re so glad we did! Very nice ambiance, friendly people, and great food! I had the Chihuahua quesadilla and it was sooooo good. Dad got the steak and chicken fajitas, which were good and came with lots of meat. Mom went for La Pincha torta and also liked it. As a bonus, if you’re traveling with a canine friend, there’s a park with really nice grass right across the street! Bottom line, highly recommended!

In a random casino town along HW80 in Nevada. The clientele here is a bit interesting but the food is incredibly good! If you are driving through or happen to be staying in this town this restaurant has to be your number one option for a meal.

The parking lot was packed on a Thursday night when we pulled in looking for some Mexican food. That seemed like a good sign and when we walked in, the place was as packed as the parking lot. We got the only booth still available and were presented with chips and salsa, which wasn’t bad, but nothing exciting. Deciding on a quick meal so we could get back on the road, we ordered steak fajitas for two. In 15 minutes a mound of sizzling meat was delivered to our table! It should have been fajitas for 4! The meat was tender and the peppers and onions were grilled to perfection. At that moment, the only problem was we had no plates and no sides. The problem was corrected once our server realized our food had been delivered by someone else. We were amazed by how much food came with the meal and had enough for leftovers. The service was inattentive, and the person who delivered our food didn’t know to bring the condiment plate that is standard with fajitas nor a plate to eat from, otherwise this would have been a five star review. We would go back and definitely recommend to others.

Wow, looking through the reviews we were very excited to try this restaurant. Décor is typical Mexican style, wait staff was typical. We were served some chips with salsa while we perused our menus. To be honest I wasn’t expecting chips that tasted like they were straight out of the bag. The salsa was so so. Hubby ordered the pork carnitas, comes with rice and beans and a small dollup of guacamole. He chose corn tortillas on the side. I had asked our waitress when he first ordered if either of the tortillas, flour or corn, were made fresh in house. We were told not today. When his food arrived, she set the tortillas down and told him they were fresh. They were very good. The rest of his meal was a disappointment though. The pork did not have much flavor, the rice was dry and bland and the beans had absolutely no taste. I had the burrito chihuahua with red sauce. Again disappointed. It looked good, looked as if it was stuffed with the carne asada. I think they just put the meat on both ends so you have the impression that you were getting a substantial amount of meat. As for the inside, it was all rice, couldn’t not find the beans, one small piece of onion, cilantro, cheese and tomatoes pretty much non existent. There may have been a quick swipe of sour cream, but not enough. As I’m writing this the next day I realize that it was supposed to have come with a side of guacamole which it did not. This was one of the driest, blandest burritos I have had. We had had really high hopes for this restaurant, but to be honest. We probably would have been better off going to Taco Time.

My opinion is best in Winnemucca. This is my 4th visit in the last 6 months and they have been excellent every time. Atmosphere is good, service was good, and the food was excellent! Personal favorite is the chimichanga smothered in queso sauce so good!

Since we were in Winnemucca for several nights for work, my colleague and I stopped in here! The first impression was awesome. They seated us quickly and the atmosphere was lovely! We ordered fajitas with steak and chicken to share and I ordered a chicken taco on the side and my friend ordered another taco(I can’t remember which kind). We also had an appetizer that I cannot remember the name of… but it was melted cheese with chorizo on top. WOW!!! All the food was delicious! I think I stuffed my self so full that I must have rolled myself out of that place. The veggies from the fajitas were crisp and full of flavor. My shredded chicken taco had so much shredded chicken that was juicy and amazing. Now, that is how I like my tacos! Thank you! The cheese dip was literally amazing! So much so that we even added some to our fajitas!

This place is pretty poppin for being out in the middle of nowhere! Winnemucca… It sounds like the name of rare desert reptile, but no it’s an endearing little town in the middle of the Nevada desert where truckers and bros on their Colorado pilgrimage like me stop because it’s the only place TO stop for. Ok food. The burrito was really good, with carne asada cooked just right. You can downsize any burrito. It’s $ 6.95 for a smaller one that is big enough if your medium hungry but probably not if you’re super hungry. Just be careful, you don’t wanna be enduring Montezuma’s revenge while going 80 on 80.

Homemade food on the long trip from Utah to California. WOW! I always yearn for really good homestyle Mexican food and Chihuahua’s delivers. There are three mexican dishes my wife and I crave. Mole dishes, Chile Relleno, and Camarones al la Diabla. We had the last two here at Chihuahua’s and they were amazing. My Poblano chiles were well stuffed not over battered and just perfectly cooked, so tender and full of flavor. The Diabla was even more amazing. The sauce was a dream with fresh mushrooms, jalapenos and onions strewn throughout. Our boys were excited about their massively fresh burritos. The best part for me was the homemade tortillas. I love excellent flat breads, and this was the topper that put Chihuahua’s in 5 star territory for me. That and that there is not a Mexican restaurant within 10 miles of my home in California that can touch the kitchen of Chihuahua’s. I would have to go to Tres Hermanas deep in Midtown Sacramento to touch this food quality in my far more Mexican Restaurant dense region. The bar is cozy and full of lots of drink options at fair prices. The décor is lovely with lots of Mexican pottery and artifacts of the home region. I would say the only improvement here would be the chips and salsa is only average, and we all know that’s our first taste and love of taking a seat for Mexican. But for those perfectionist cooks in the kitchen, I say«felicidades» and«gracias».
