Hey, support local business. A small-​town hardware store where everyone knows your name, or your mom and dad ;) or your uncle as he worked here for years and years.
Specifically (besides the countless visits as a kid and such) came in yesterday for a sprinkler head and swamp cooler pads. The guys are super nice and took me right where I needed to go, and didn’t make fun of me when it took me a second to realize the difference between the sprinkler heads (the spray radii). Also was pretty busy and they had all registers open.
Obviously prices are higher here than big box stores, but not too much worse.

I have to head to True Value at least once, if not 5 or 6 times a week. I’m working on updating my first house and Brown’s is the closest hardware store to me. They’ve got knowledgeable, friendly staff and a fairly wide selection of items for a small to medium sized store. The interior seems much more up-​to-​date, brighter, and cleaner than the Ace in town. They’ve also got some pretty sweet big game mounts in their front display window.
