The food took a while to come out but it was really good! I had the pork tenderloin with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes.

This restaurant and bar is located inside the Hilton Garden Inn Hartford North/Bradley Int’l Airport. The name of the restaurant is actually — The Garden — Grille & Bar, regardless of what Unilocal has the name of the restaurant listed as. You can clearly see this on the menu of one of the pix I have posted — as well as being listed on their web site: I ate dinner in here twice during a recent stay, and breakfast once. Had their mixed greens salad with grilled chicken one night, and a quesadilla and then a bacon cheeseburger(sans bun) the next night. The salad was decent. Although I suspect that it was pre-made and sitting in a chiller, because I got several bites of vegetables that were liking biting into ice crystals. Which is somewhat unpleasant from a taste and texture perspective. The burger was pretty good, although somewhat on the small side. The accompanying french fries were crisp and hot. The Omelette was made to order with spinach, mushrooms, bell pepper, onions, sausage and cheddar cheese, and was really good. I had one ale at the bar — a local IPA. I was not that thrilled with it — not very hoppy as IPAs go. I wish they offered a larger local craft ale selection. And an ongoing beef that I have with Hilton Garden Inn’s in general, they close their bar/restaurants at 10:00 pm. Waaaaayyyyy to early! Service was just okay. It seemed like the ladies working the restaurant were understaffed for the amount of people wanting food and drink. The staff was nice though. There are two flat panel HDTV’s in the restaurant/bar area — both were to small.

Horrible. Tortellini pesto was a overly salty butter herb sauce… basil was MIA. The«garden salad» was a joke– iceberg lettuce with cherry tomatoes, red onions and cucumber pieces served in a small breakfast cereal bowl with a balsamic vinaigrette that tasted like a co-worker’s bad breath. Breakfast the next day was horribly overpriced at $ 11.95– came up short both in quality and a dearth of choices… what few choices they offered were in limited small quantities, almost communicating to the guest that nobody chooses these items but we have to put some out to make it look good.

So I drop down to the restaurant in the hotel for a late dinner. The place is pretty empty, so I pull up a stool at the bar. I am greeted by the bartender /server who has been here at the hotel for 13 years! She is very pleasant and gets m drink and a menu. I ordered a special which had scallops, shrimp and steak over a bed of a wildish rice and a spiced sauce. It was wonderful and very filling. The ball game on the TV was good, and I was offered the remote to change to any channel I might choose. Simple good service. Very nice food. Ultra clean atmosphere. What more can I say. I would come back.

Great dinner. Fair priced, varied yet typical offerings. Great and attentive server. Quick turn around from placing the order to hot freshly cooked food was brought to the table. Tasted great, even other tables commented unsolicited that their food had been great. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone. I look forward to going back.

Have only had lunch there –maybe half a dozen times. Every time has been terrific. Whether it’s their soup, sandwiches, or daily specials– you can have a very good meal for under $ 10. I was there yesterday and had a really nice salad with sliced ham and shredded cheese for $ 6. My colleagues had a flatbread sandwich and a cheeseburger soup– which I might have to try next time! I also have to mention the absolutely wonderful service by the restaurant staff. All in all, our luncheon there made for a very enjoyable experience.

Whenever I am in the Hartford area, I stay at this hotel, and enjoy the friendly staff they have. Their breakfast, which is pretty consistent with their brand throughout the country, is always a good, although pretty basic. Love the waffles though. Turns out that they are doing a whole restaurant renovation coming up, and I can’t wait to see what they are doing! They are under construction now, but I am looking forward to seeing what they have going when they open back up in July! Hopefully, they will get some prospective menus posted up here soon! A quick talk with Richard, the GM, reveals that they are re-doing a patio area, and expanding their bar. Great for a drink for the local too, a secret spot that’s actually a bit slower on Fridays and Saturdays because their guests are so business based! Great for the local, great for the biz traveler, can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeve!
