I grew up in Windsor, CA. Part of me is a little sad that so much has been added to the older part of town because the Windsor I once knew is gone… And then there are stores in the new downtown area like Powell’s that combine childhood nostalgia with the new, chic vibe. It has practically every type of candy you can imagine! The store is a sensory overload with colors and treats everywhere! Yet it is well organized! They also gifts and gelato. Love this place!

The gelato is awful! If you ever had traditional gelato from Italy, or from a shop that makes their own gelato then you would agree with me. Traditional Italian gelato is to die for. This is factory made crap. Don’t bother. The rest of the shop is all candy, sweets, and toys, which I did not partake in so I can not comment, on that’s why 2 stars. I did see some jaw breakers in all different sizes and that’s cool if you are looking for novelty candy, this would be a good place to find it.

Is a quiet town at night and my sister mention about this place so we went to check it out. The store is full of colorful candies like I was in the movie The Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. The three candy brands that caught my attention was Tabasco in dark chocolate Minions candies Warheads twist looking back I should of brought them I got myself a pound of sour candies that were on the other side of the room. They also play the movies while we were in store the Willy Wonka the old version and Mary Poppins. Imagining all those candies that don’t see in your local stores is insane. Great customer service would love to go again

Not too sure how I feel about this shop. My boyfriend and I had dinner in Windsor a few days ago and wanted to get something sweet for dessert afterwards. We found this shop but before I was about to buy all of my favorite candy, I saw that it was connected to a little gelato place. We got a size regular cup(which is pretty decent size) in Café Mocha. Excited to eat, my boyfriend and I headed across the street to sit at one of the benches at the park. It was all fun and games until a few scoops into eating our ice cream, we found a dead bee in our ice cream! Disgusted to say nonetheless but the girl who served us looked young and a bit stressed out(there were only a few workers during that time) so we didn’t wanna bug her about our bee-infested gelato. Plus it was getting late anyways so we just decided to head back home since it was a bit of a long drive. Buuuuutt I’m not sure we’ll be coming back here for gelato…

LOVE this«sweet» store! Been coming here for years, not only to buy the«old time» candy that you can’t find anywhere else, but just to get that«old time candy store» feel as you walk through the door. Love the umbrella chandeliers too. So cute! Also old movies showing off to the side in the back & you can sit in real theater seats while enjoying some wholesome, family friendly, FUN!

They have a great selection of candy go with which ever holiday is coming up. Lots of different chocolates, great sour candy selection, and fun novelty items!

Such a fun store, with so much to gander at. The kids working there, makes you just want to leave. Every time we go(maybe our luck) we always get this one female who looks like she hates life and wishes everyone works disappear. Needless to say we will be taking our business elsewhere and the manager really needs to handle the kids working. I’m sure in not the only one this girl has given the death look too.

they have a lot of cool stuff you can’t get at grocery stores, etc. they also fill a fair amount of space w/stuff that you can get anywhere(gummy worms, sour patches, blow pops, etc). i wouldn’t go out of my way, but it’s a cool novelty.

Woo for nostalgia! This place is near the park, which is nice, because eating ice cream and 90’s candy on a bench with your family, sweetheart, alone,(insert,) etc. is very enjoyable.(Unsurprisingly) They also have lots of candy you probably won’t see at many other candy stores, like a gum all slot machine and Wii-mote candy. The gelato there is also pretty good. The cashiers and just employees in general seem pretty happy about thier job. If I could, I’d give it 4 ½ stars.

I frequent the Los Gatos, San Jose, Paso Robles and SLO locations… the candy and gelato were great, per usual. But on a trip to wine country we went out of our way to visit this location(Mon around 7:30), and the experience was terrible. I rarely Unilocal but it was so bad that I felt like I had to say something. I’ve never, in my life, been made to feel so unwelcome at a store. One of the employees was fine, but the other girl treated me like I was a disgusting and an inconvenience every time I spoke to her, and then made the other employee ring us up. Glad to be leaving this location behind in favor of the good ones back home.

While walking around downtown in Windsor, CA we came across this shop. Being a major sweet tooth, I had to check it out. This is what I found out. 1. Large variety of candies not commonly found can be found here. 2. They have Gelato here! I have no idea if they make their own or not. 3. We each ordered a small gelato for $ 3.95 each. Fresh ginger gelato is so good! 4. Strawberry gelato was tasty.(3.5 stars) 5. Coconut macadamia gelato was good.(3.5 stars) 6. Rocky road gelato was also good.(3.5 stars) 7. Fresh Ginger gelato was very good if you like ginger.(4.5 stars) Overall, I would have to say that I am a fan of Powell’s Sweet Shoppe. This place is loaded with candies that I thought were no longer made. Just be careful when purchasing some of the candy. I saw some candies that were already expired. Other than that, I had no problems with the place. Check out this 4 star destination if you are in town. It is very cool!

Order the child size ice cream if you just want a few bites its only $ 2.95! I do not eat ice cram very often, but the AC was broken at work and it was 92 degrees in my office so I went straight there after work. it is a lot of fun here, takes me back to yesteryear, since this is #ThrowbackThursday I have to say it was fun looking at the British Candy and Chocolate of my youth, along with the walls of My Little Pony, Marilyn Monroe bags and trinkets. Even the Queen of England made it to the wall of fame. I tried the Lemon Gelato, not a big fan, it was way too sweet, but hey that is why I tried it! Can’t love it all. I will try something else next time. The girl working was very sweet and upbeat last night, given the huge spike in the temperature last night it was so strange to see that they were not busy at all ? Windsor Green needs to fix their water feature out front which seems to be stagnant and unappealing, there were quite a few early evening picnickers enjoying a relaxing after work wind down on the green, that is where i quickly enjoyed my treat before it melted, dang It I should have turned off my cell phone.

Two words… Willy Wonka. Powell’s is the epitome of this movie and a must for every child or kid-at-heart who loves treats. Having visited the UK it’s great to see that a store can carry some treats that are local to CA whatsoever. And since most supermarkets don’t specialize in quality candy it’s a nice one-stop-shop to go visit when picking out delights for people in your family. If you have a young one — have them sit and watch Wonka 24⁄7 as the movie plays throughout the day. For the adults only — make sure to check out the secret cupboard housing adult-friendly candies that are out of the reach of young wandering eyes.
