Very basic, underwhelming, overpriced food. Service was not good. We had to wait for someone to seat us. We were not offered bread as other tables were given bread very clearly and the food was mediocre for the price. My wife and I have eaten at some awesome places in DTLA, Chicago etc. this was not good. Sorry but not sorry. Don’t spend your money here. Extremely underwhelming.

I received a lovely note from the manager expressing her regret that this happened and that Charlie’s would like for us to be their guest for lunch or dinner the next time we are in the area. Someone acknowledging that such things shouldn’t happen is enough. Thank you.

We had been to a wedding here several months ago and we were extremely impressed with the in house catering, the service and ambience. That put Charlie’s on our list to try out in the future. So try them out we did, and we were seriously disappointed. Service was lackluster. Food was pretty much unedible, with the exception of the soups and salads, which were really good. Checking on us three times, after telling the waitperson my uneaten prime rib was too well done, she just walks away each time. It was eventually taken off the bill. However, no one in our party enjoyed their meal. Personally, we would not return, as they gave us no reason to do so.

Average food in a nice golf course settting. Have eaten here several times and it is routinely«above average.» They have an outside sitting area, bar, general seating and several banquet rooms, small and large. Not a place to go out of your way for, but worth a visit if you live in the area.

Breakfast was great at this spot. The portion was small but had great quality. We didn’t enjoy the ambiance because we got food to go and in a hurry. I got the Mexican omelet with really good beans and the French Toast with Texas bread was excellent. Sorry. Forgot to take pics.

When they say ‘American Traditional’ they mean it in every sense of the words. This place does not think outside the rich white people box. The food is super generic and bland and they are not accommodating of special orders for people with dietary restrictions.

We recently attended a murder mystery event at Charlies that was put on by Get A Clue Productions, and want to warn others that there was a 19% tip added to the check, with no prior warning. On top of this, the tip was calculated on the total including tax … usually tip is calculated pre-tax. Our estimate was that the OK meal was worth around $ 25 – 30, and since the entry price was $ 68, this left a good amount for the touring company, so, in our opinion, the tip amount was quite exorbitant. Watch out for the hidden costs!!!

Charlie’s was okay. My fiancé and I had the filet mignon and the baked salmon. We also had the crispy palm heart appetizer. The décor is a bit dated and it feels like sitting in a restaurant scene straight out of a 1980s movie. The bar: Drinks are good and not too strong. Easy to drink and palpable. The food: The appetizer was OK. It was simply a battered and deep fried heart of palm in a lemon/buttermilk sauce. The filet mignon was medium(as ordered). The mashed potatoes had a truffle like aftertaste that was pleasant. The boiled vegetables offered a nice side which was nice to dip into the wine reduction sauce they included with the steak. The salmon was the saddest part of the order. The salmon was a bit dry. The bacon flavored risotto was gummy with a lingering aftertaste of smoked bacon. But that was all I could taste. It should have been called the bacon flavored salmon dish. I like bacon but I don’t love it unless it a hearty piece with a sue of more bacon. If one has a bite of fish, risotto, or vegetables and only tastes bacon, the flavor profiles are definitely not right. The service was friendly and the staff was attentive.

I’m in here at lot. Such a great restaurant to go with a dynamite golf course. Menu and wine list awesome. Back patio and sunset views remind us life is so great. Kudos to service and particularly my friends Courtney, Ashley and Tim!

The food here is delicious, and the bar is top notch. I recently ate here with some friends and I was pleasantly surprised. The happy hour specials are great! After having a few at the bar we sat down for dinner. I ordered the duck and it was nothing short of amazing. We all shared our desserts and oh we’re they delectable. The meal was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and I was not let down. I will definitely be back!

Chef Don gets 5 stars. He’s a food magician. Whether or not he is always in the restaurant is kind of a gamble but his menu is wonderful. Overpriced even for a golf course. Staff has gotten better lately. I’ll keep coming for the food but only because the chef Is so amazing in the kitchen

Solid 3.5 stars. We had a great mother’s day lunch here! Seated by the dish collecting station at first, we asked our waitress if we could move to one of the other open tables, and she said no. Wanting a good mother’s day meal I opted to ask the hostess if we could move & were told we could. Whew! Nice save there, outside and right by the lake, I scored! The place was buzzing with people and I could see why, the huge buffet, probably the size of my dining room & living room put together. Agreeable wafting aromas & filed with a wide variety of food choices, I couldn’t wait to dig in. Had to snag our own napkins and silverware, but in fairness we did change tables. Waitress came by with a mimosa, which my wife said was so-so, & to give us the check. After handing off the kiddo to my wife,(she got her food first of course ;) I was finally able to get some grub. Excellently cooked tri-tip; soft, moist, savory with a garlic sauce, wow, meat heaven. Honorable mention would be the blueberry pancakes, wrapped to hold a sweet, tasty blueberry jam. The danishes were wonderful, huge selection. We did have our reservation @ 130pm, towards the end of the meal, so unfortunately there were a few stations that weren’t refilled with food. Thought this could happen, but try going to any event early with a wife & a 5 week old, not happening buddy. Enjoyed my time spent & meal, most importantly my wife did too. Looking forward to another sunny day outside overlooking the pond and surrounding golf course. Would definately return.

This was my second visit to Charlie’s. The first visit I had an excellent fresh Ahi Salad with lots of fresh vegetables and a nice slice of Ahi. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their entrees as well. Charlie’s is the Windsor Golf Club restaurant. They have a very nice outdoor patio overlooking the course, plus many of their indoor tables share the same view. For this visit my friend and I both ordered the grilled salmon Caesar salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the salad had a dressing very reminiscent of the bottled Johnny’s Caesar salad dressing. But still very good overall. What really surprised me at this visit is that when we arrive at about 11:45am, the dining room was literally empty. There was a whole row of booths overlooking the golf course. The host decided to seat us at a table away from the view and off by ourselves. Not too happy about that, but we went with it anyway. The prices are decent and the service is friendly. Always a good place for a good quick meal. Oh and did I mention that there is a huge selection of food choices — something for everyone!

Came here of a work lunch, I had no idea this place was even here. we were seated outside, which had a lovely view of the golf course, it was slightly chilly but still nice. Our waitress was a lil MIA at first but was pretty attentive. Most of the folks I was with ordered salads, but me? Ha! I got got one of the lunch specials which was a polenta cake with chicken sausage and veggies. Man it was filling, in a good way. The polenta was creamy and topped with cheese and the veggies were nice and crunchy. I finished my whole plate and tried to get as much sauce with each bite, Nom! We were in and out in about an hour and 15 minutes which was perfect since we had meetings to attend to.

Walked in with my two daughters(13&9), grab a seat and waited for someone to give us menus. One server looked at us then looked away… I asked another server and she nodded her head and looked away. A grumpy bar tender(gentleman behind bar) says, «are you just having drinks or a meal?» So I say, «I’m trying to get a menu but it’s been a little difficult.» He doesn’t say a word then maybe a couple minutes later I see him grab a menu, don’t know if it was for us but at this point I had enough. We left. First time at Windsor. Here for a daughter’s 2 day golf tournament. Will easily spend over $ 500 for hotel and food over the weekend and none of it will go towards Charlie’s restaurant, which is in Windsor Golf course. Management need a check… no, a kick in the you know where for having such rude staff members. I’m not playing the race card but moments like this, I can’t help it but to think it. Name may be Charlie’s but really it should be Chucky’s!!!

Charlie’s has good food and drinks, and has a nice atmosphere! Definitely one of the very few special occasion restaurants in Windsor. There is a beautiful outdoor patio in the warmer months. Only downside is that it seems a bit overpriced for the quality of food, and it is out of the way of main downtown places.

On the golf course. Seating both inside and out. On the patio there are big umbrellas over looking the lake with fountain. Nice surroundings. Menu is decent food was fine. Nothing special. Location looks like it can host large parties and banquets.

Pretty good food /service /ambience for a public golf course eatery. Our foursome today all ordered something different. We shared tastes. All agreed that the flavors, prep, presentation was good. Place was packed, not a table open at 1:00pm. Yet the food delivery was timely and the server checked in a couple of times to gauge our satisfaction and meal progress. Average lunch plate(which is plenty filling) costs around $ 13. Full bar. Several beers on tap. Adequate wine by the glass list. The pretty view from the patio is of the golf course, a pleasant & peaceful view. A winner!

Restaurant Week 2014($ 29/pp Dinner) Charlie’s is located on the absolutely breathtakingly beautiful Windsor Golf course. Every time I have played at the club, I’ve wondered how the food was, but thankfully until this month, I never had to find out. Ambiance in the restaurant is casual and simple, and there are beautiful views from every table. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, but that is where the positives ended. Surprisingly, the best course we had were the starters. The Lemon-Basil Crepes filled with spinach, ricotta, prosciutto, and mushrooms with sun-dried tomato sauce & asiago were good, albeit a tad greasy. Chicken & Chorizo Quesadilla with green chilis, corn, cilantro, & cheese with jalapeño crème fraiche was the clear winner of the starter course, perfectly bite sized triangles, crispy, gooey, and packed with flavor. Smoked Salmon Crostinis with tomato-avocado salsa & cream cheese were a surprising take on a classic, but missed the putt and overshot the hole with the strong salsa over the fresh salmon. The biggest starter disappointment was the Porcini Mushroom & Fontina Cheese Polenta with smoked duck and beef jus. The duck was tough, the polenta was near-flavorless, and slimy, and the mushrooms were chewy like they were previously dried, and unsuccessfully re-hydrated. Overall, not a winning start. Entrees were even worse… The Lemon-Basil Crusted Pork Paillard with roasted garlic-artichoke sauce & sweet pea rice was a disaster, fried too long and dried inside, coated generously with panko, and then sauced with a too-creamy, bland sauce, served over rice that tasted like they came from a box. I immediately regretted ordering duck twice after the starter failure, and the Pappardelle pasta with Roast Duck & Crimini Mushrooms was just as bad as I had prepared for, overcooked, gummy pasta, tough duck, and an unexciting sauce left me sad. The Stuffed Chicken Breast filled with parmesan & panko topped with lemon-basil chardonnay cream sounded like it was going to be the winner, but again, overcooked meat, over a boxed-tasting rice was a repeat offender. The only slight improvement was the Fire Roasted Top Sirloin Pepper Steak with cognac butter & mushroom ragout, which was cooked medium rare when asked for well done, but seasoned nicely over some decent mashed potatoes. We all hoped for a sudden wind change for the dessert course, but to our dismay, the sand traps kept all the shots. The Gran Marnier crepes were overcooked, chewy and dry, the Lemon Pudding tasted like a cleaning supply, and the Brownie Sundae was tolerable only with copious hot fudge and ice cream. Normally I also denote regularly designated pricing for menu items with RW, but strangely enough almost everything from the RW menu is not from the regular menu. I was always under the impression that Restaurant Week was a way for restaurants to showcase their most winning of selections, but I don’t believe this was the case for Charlie’s. The final decision was this: the location is beautiful, and the descriptions of the dishes were exquisite, but the food was uninspired, and left us soaking wet and unhappy in the water feature with every course. I believe the restaurant is good for one thing, and that is for a refreshing cold one after 18 holes, and that’s it. Not likely to ever return, after such a crushing culinary disappointment, and definitely not worth the price, even with the stunning view.
