Worst experience ever!!! My Wife and I have made this place our pit stop on the days we run around, New owner’s has remodeled the place which for large groups would be great. But if you like the old feeling of a friendly atmosphere don’t go here, Bartender had no personality what so ever, ordered two appetizers that after 30 minutes we decided to cancel as we left. This was the most disappointing remodel of a business that has lost the home town feeling that it once had, and as we left the Cook was arguing with us as the Owner stepped in to shut him up. The best Remodel for this Restaurant and so called BAR in the future would be to SELL back to the original owner or someone REALLYCARES

Once again, I have not been there in two and a half months, because the new«manager«dictated to short pouring the drinks. I heard that they had remodeled joint. So, tonigh though, I would go in and see. It looked very nice, but again, got shorted, Poor service… The bartender was a Pig! Was going to order food, but the service was so horrible! I had an drink, walked, out. Strongly suggest no one goes there!!!

Have been coming to this bar for years. The new owners, Shaun and Erin are running it into the ground. Used to be the best neighborhood bar/restaurant in Santa Rosa. The food used to be the best home cooked meal you could have. Now it is mediocre on a good day(and they raised the prices!) The dining room is always empty. Because they don’t care, it seems that their bad attitudes have trickled down to the employees. I used to love stopping in because of the«Cheers» atmosphere”. Watered down drinks, bad food. don’t bother going.

I wasn’t going to write a review but I have had a few days to stew on the matter. My family and myself have been regulars to Jeannie’s Nutty Irishman for years. Besides the St. Patrick’s Day celebration that we have attended year after year, we would stop in to have lunch or dinner on a fairly regular basis. This St. Patrick’ Day was a total disaster. We usually show up around 6PM and this occasion was no different. In the years past, we came to expect a long wait to be seated for dinner due to the line being out the door and down the street. Much to our amazement, we were able to park really close and there were only about a dozen people ahead of us in line. When we were told that the wait would only be 20 minutes, we were surprised and, obviously, willing to wait. During our HOUR wait, I said hi to several of the regulars whom I have know for years both from my experience at the restaurant and outside of the restaurant. My wife was being entertained by a kind patron and his grandson and was being patient. Both of my daughters were fine just waiting as well. Once we were seated, our waitress informed us that she wasn’t one of the regular wait staff but had been taken from the bar to be a waitress for the evening. Okay, so she knows about customer service, right? Wrong. Upon taking our drink order, my wife requested a Bloody Mary. Our waitress gave a look like that was going to be a problem and that the wait time for anything other than a «regular bar drink, like two parts» would be a while, the bar was packed! We were not in hurry, so no problem. I ordered a «regular bar drink» and the daughters ordered water. Drinks were on the table within 5 minutes. Not bad, right? We all ordered the standard, Corned Beef and Cabbage, and a potato appetizer since we had already been waiting a while in line. The waitress informed us that the appetizer my come with the meal because of how busy the kitchen was. Okay, no problem. During our wait, one the the hostesses came by to check on us, which was nice but she informed us that she is a patron helping out on the busiest nights of the year. Our waitress returns with our soup and proceeds to drop one onto the table with a thud. It’s all good. No harm, no foul. By the way, the split pea soup was mediocre at best. The peas were still firm! After the soup was gone, the cups were picked up quickly by a friendly young lady. Here is where the evening went a little sideways… We patiently waited for the meal to arrive, watching others that were seated after us being served. A few had even boxed up their leftovers and paid the tab and were leaving. A different waitress came by to check on us and asked if we had ordered yet. We had but explained concern that we had been waiting a while and had been wondering if the Corned Beef had run out. She said that she would check. 20 minutes later, the hostess stops to ask how our meal was. At that point we informed her that we were still waiting! Our waitress comes to the table and states, word for word, «You guys still look hungry, do you want to order something else?» At this point it was nearing 8PM. We tell her that we are still waiting for our meal to arrive. She hurries off and returns in a few minutes to apologize that she had«forgotten to put the ticket in for our meal!» She offers to comp our drinks to which we state that the girls only had water. She says, «Then I’ll comp your waters.» Really?!? It took all I had to remain calm and state that all we wanted at this point was our meal. Another 15 minutes goes by and we see other table being served their meals while we still waited for ours. Our waitress returns with four more cups of that mediocre Split Pea Soup and, before she sets them down, realizes that we had already gotten our soups nearly an hour ago. She turns and walks away with the soup. We ask the hostess for some crackers just to tie us over until the meal arrives. THEMEALARRIVES via a different waitress. This waitress informs us that we would be comped the entire bill and get me, yet another«regular bar drink.» The glass arrives broken, which I find after taking a sip. Absolutely no urgency placed on my well being, just a hazard of the business I guess. More apologizes are given by our new waitress about the service and we finish our meal. Okay, I know that this was a little long winded and more details than most people need. I have been to Jeannie’s Nutty Irishman on the busiest night of the year several times. This was not busy. In fact, the only thing that made it busy was the way that the wait staff acted. If you run around, in a panic explaining how busy it is, eventually, you impress that feeling upon yourself. The place has lost the luster of being the go-to place to have a good meal that one has come to expect. Come on Sean! Really?!? I hope that your $ 50 gift card treated you well and that you had a much better experience than I had. Maybe you can even write yourself a good review on Unilocal or Facebook

I’ve been coming to the Nutty Irishman(nutty) for years the place was always kinda funky but a warm atmosphere. you could always count on the food being great. They had a great menu. Now there are new owners and there running the place in the ground. They did a remodel, looks great like a sport bar. Great change, but the food is the worse. I recommend that you stay away. Last time my wife had a BLT. When she got home she got real sick.

After years of eating and hanging out here we find ourselves confused about when the kitchen is open. More and more we go in wanting to enjoy a game and have some food only to find out the kitchen is closed. Really? On a Sunday? I guess I can program my phone. The regular bartenders are awesome as usual! I give exception to the person who waited on us Sunday night. Geez… I wanted to apologize for bothering her by stopping by. Trust me, I will give a person two chances and I have to say that both times we have walked away feeling like we should have called to see if it was okay that we stop by and TRY to have some fun. Won’t be back on Sundays nor will we stay if this person is bartending. As for Susan, Linda, Ashley and Chrisy, we will hang with you girls anytime.

I used to come to the Nutty Irishman(affectionately called«The Nutty») for a few good years in a row before they were sold to new owners. The Nutty is my favorite bar in town because: 1. Parking is easy. They have a lot with about 8 – 10 spaces and plenty of street parking because there are no other late night businesses around. 2. Cool bartenders. Bartenders who really paid attention to what was going on around them and refilled drinks for anyone who was running empty and called people out quickly who were acting up. Best bartender? Linda. 3. Interesting regulars. The Nutty had a really great group of regulars who(if you come here a lot) really enjoy hanging around together and are good for people watching. 4. Drink prices. Drinks are reasonably priced. Way cheaper than the trendy bars downtown. You will not break the budget buying drinks for you or all your friends here. 5. Hours. The Nutty was always open when I needed them to be. They are open early for lunch(though I never ate here) and are open late for drinks. 6. Plenty of seats. The Nutty has a huge bar area with plenty of seats and a few tables around the bar of gathering too. There is also a room next to the bar with additional tables and a pool table. Whenever to come back to Santa Rosa I make a plan to come here for old times sake. A great place that still got it going on!

After years of living nearby and wanting to try this place, we finally did and what a frustrating dining experience this turned out to be. Let me start with the good: This place was clearly filled with regulars, both at the bar and in the dining area. That lends itself to a relaxed atmosphere. Fries were tasty. Hmm. Our server was very friendly but in the end, that wasn’t enough. Now for the rest of my opinion. :) Ordered the French Dip — it arrives — it looks good! Took my Unilocal pics, noticed a very odd smell but went ahead and dipped the sandwich into the au jus. I couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong but it was horrible. Server came over and asked how the food was and I let her know I thought something was wrong with the au jus. She smelled it and agreed then took it to the chef and asked him. She came back and said«sorry about that — we both agree it is bad. The chef is new(he’s normally the sous chef) and he wasn’t sure on how to make the au jus, thinks he may have added too much worcestershire or something.» And that was it. Wasn’t any offer to remake it for me. Wasn’t any offer to make something else. Just an explanation. A French dip is all about the combo of sandwich and jus… and without, it’s just wrong. :) That said, the bread and meat were both very dry. Bill arrives and nothing is compensated or discounted. Bummer!

Visited the Nutty tonight with family and friends for a 21st birthday. I’ve been here before and had a blast, mostly because of the company and alcohol. The service at first was very good but deteriorated as it got busier. We started our evening at 6pm, received our drinks within minutes of ordering. As the place became busier, so did the wait time… 20 minutes for a beer = unacceptable to me. If I wasn’t such a savvy drinker(ordered 2 beers right when I got there) I would have sobered up waiting, not what you want when you go to a bar. –1 star. Ordered the French dip, the sandwich itself was good but the au jus was extremely salty and overpowered the sandwich. I was so looking forward to the dipping experience. –1 star. If it wasn’t for the great company, the night would have sucked.

Stopped by on a Sunday, walked in, the place was BUSY! Nice to see that a lot of regulars hang out there… don’t blame them, our server was smiling, fun to chat with and she really looked like she was enjoying her job. One of the owners, Sean(Shawn)…sorry about the spelling came to our table and introduced himself, then stopped by again before we left. Can’t wait to go back!

As a big fan of the Nutty Irishman, I was pretty sad when it was sold to new owners. But I have to say it couldn’t have been taken over by a better group. They did a great redo with new paint and decorations, as well as adding a long table that is perfect for a larger group. The food and cocktails have been kept pretty much the same but with some great new specials, especially during football season where the many TVs(I think it’s up to NINE) are sure to bring you the game you want to see! Sunday brunch is still going strong, try the biscuits and gravy and a bloody mary with lots of garnishes to start your day off right!
