I have always loved the weekends, but now I really look forward to them! The brisket sandwiches are a straight up tangible piece of heaven. The folks who run the truck are super friendly. Everything is great here, I’ve had it all. You would be out of your mind not to come down on a Saturday and see for yourself — when it comes to BBQ there isn’t anyone else around here that knows their stuff like Shaffer’s! Thats no joke. Seriously, go out of your way to eat here!

We moved here from North Carolina and were searching for a good BBQ place that could meet our standards, Shaffers exceeded our expectations! So delicious and the owners are fantastic– Our favorites are the pulled pork, coleslaw and cajun chicken. So happy to have discovered this food truck!

Great Q, great people, fast service! Every Saturday we look forward to taking a ride out to Valley Pike and getting our BBQ fix. Since moving here recently from Atlanta, my husband has had trouble finding good BBQ (a requirement for him being from Alabama) and Shaffer’s has done the trick. Their thin sliced BBQ beef sandwiches have become my favorite and ribs, chicken, pork are all fantastic. You can get pints to go for the freezer and they do catering as well. Be sure to like them on Facebook so you can find out when they will be at special events like wineries and festivals. They also sell their own sauces and rubs… we use a lot of Big Julie’s rub in this house– great on anything-​chicken, eggs, fish, pork. So happy we found this gem right down the street. Best BBQ in the area! The owners are awesome, food was perfect, and so great to finally see a good food truck in Winchester.

Yes! More please. We hit up the truck at the Columbia Pike farmer’s market today. We tried, and ordered the pork and the brisket. Delish. We had it for lunch, and here comes dinner. They were so sweet and let us try both before ordering. I’m not even a big meat eater, but, my fiancé will be lucky if I don’t eat it all while he’s playing Xbox.

Awesome Pulled Pork Sandwich! Maybe the best one in NoVA. It’s too bad that the food truck only comes around on the weekends during lunch. Still, if you see the bright orange truck along Columbia Pike, do stop by!

Love the BBQ here! Best I’ve had in the DC area. I stop by almost every Saturday. My favorites are the Cajun Chicken, Smoked Italian Sausage and the Rooter Tooter, but I’ve never had a bad meal. They also sell awesome homemade pie and gooey chocolate chip cookies. Great value too!

Very good bbq, perhaps the best in the area, though have not been to many others besides Rocklands. It has limited hours during lunch on the weekends as far as I can tell, but worth tracking down.
Had the ½ chicken which made two full meals at only $ 8, talk about value. I’ve heard the pork and beef brisket sandwiches are also very good, but have not tried yet, will have to!

Wow — Food coma.
This is officially my favorite bbq spot! I went all out and got a full rack of ribs, sausage sandwich with pulled pork inside of it with coleslaw, a half/​pound of pulled pork and a big ol pint of coleslaw.
The Ribs were fantastic, it was different from what I was use to – usually mushy and falls right off the bone, which I don’t mind. Shaffer’s had the right amount of resistance and the flavor was just right (along with their vinegar based sauce[awesome])
The sausage was so good – I devoured it in about 3 – 4 minutes, it had a nice snappyness and delicious flavor. It also had pulled/​chopped pork inside of the bun accompanied with their amazing coleslaw.
Pulled/​chopped pork was sweet, soft and had a little kick.
They were super nice and willing to answer any questions. It’s unfortunate they’re only open for another month before winter sets in, but they will have frozen ready treats for us bbq lovers to store for the cold weather.
I implore you to give Shaffer’s a go before the season ends. I can’t wait to eat the leftovers later!

Who doesn’t love a good food truck? Who doesn’t love BBQ? Basically, you’ve got the perfect combo of approval here. I ran into this food truck at Blessed Sacrament’s open house and was quite pleased with the BBQ Palace’s pulled pork sandwich. A delicious slice of North Carolina gold, this sandwich was an excellent surprise of the day. Oh, and to tickle the toes of all lovers of all things pork comes the news that they sell it by the pound here (holding back the tears).
Seriously, this food truck serves some of the best BBQ in town, I can’t wait to run into this hog wagon again. The only issue I had with my sandwich was that I would like to have seen a little more coleslaw on the bun. However, I got the sense that next time all I have to do is ask

Great chopped pork sandwiches. Vinegar-​based sauce is also excellent, and this is from someone used to tomato-​based sauces (Kansas City native). We will be back to this place, it is fantastic.

Excellent place to get a quick BBQ lunch. Their brisket is well cooked and the vinegar based flavor is excellent. I have yet to tried their ribs, but I expect it to be just as good as the brisket I had today.

Along with the tasty food, the staff has a very friendly and welcoming vibe with all the customers. I will definitely return again.

Three stars for the service, sauce, and the pulled pork.
The good: Tasty and smoky meat and good service. The sauce is pretty darn good too.
The not so good: The ribs were very over done. My wife and I opened the foil to reveal some of the meat already off of the bones. The flavor and smokiness was good but there was no texture (crunchy bark) and they were mostly just mushy. The coleslaw was also not very good at all for my taste; I was glad I asked for it on the side.
All in all not a bad place. Would definitely try them again. For my preferences, I think the cooking process could use a few tweaks… the flavor is already there.

Good vinegar based eastern NC style bbq. The cajun chicken is delicious.

I’m a big fan of Shaffer’s. I’ve had their ribs a few times and have found them flavorful and fall-​off-​the-​bone. I don’t typically like vinegar-​based BBQ sauce, but theirs is quite good, and I surprised myself by liking it.
The only thing that would make Schaffer’s better is sides, but I understand a «do one thing and do it well» operation. Their pies (well, not theirs, the producer is Livin’ the Pie Life) are delicious, especially the bourbon pecan. So happy that Schaffer’s vends down the street from me every Saturday and at the Columbia Pike Farmers’ Market every other Sunday.

Best pulled pork I have had in DC metro area. Wish this place was open regularly during the week. A must stop for Saturday lunch if you are in the Arlington area! Can’t wait to try out the rest of the BBQ

EXCELLENT pulled pork! I strolled past the food truck on a Saturday, and had to buy 1lb of pulled pork to go. The pork has an awesome flavor and texture. A side of vinegar based sauce and slaw perfect the pork sandwich. Very friendly service at a reasonable price. I will be back. I might also call Shaffer’s to cater.

I give it 4 ½ stars.
On my 3 visits so far i have had the chopped pork twice and yesterday had the beef sandwich and a taste of the ribs. I’m of the circle that prefers dry as apposed to wet bbq. Most of my experience has been with Texas beef brisket, ribs and sausage. I’ve also tasted NC, TENN and Louisiana BBQ. Trust me, this Que doesn’t need any sauce, although i thought the sauce was tasty. Just the right amount of pepper and seasoning and nice smoke.
Great to finally get a real BBQ contender in the area. I shall return.
