I’ve grown up going to the 4-H fair in Winchester. I honestly can’t remember a year where I didn’t make an appearance. It began with my older cousins showing pigs, so my siblings and I would go and watch them walk their pigs around the ring — wondering the whole time how they have control over such a creature. As we grew up, we all found our nitch in the crafts department. Personally, I always found interest in photography, consumer clothing and scrapbooking. Yes, Sarah in a 4-H nutshell. I had my run with showing pigs and rabbits. We would go to the dances on the weekends and stay up late playing cards in the pig and cow barns. Anyone reading this that knows me now might NOT see this as being a Sarah«thing.» But yes, it sure was! Now, I have moved away from Winchester, but one of my siblings is still at the age where she is a full fledged 4-H member. It’s a great place to go and catch up with old friends, watch a talent show, grab a chocolate milkshake and just walk around and check out the projects. The thing about a small town is that no matter what day(or even time of the day) you decide to go, you’re bound to run into numerous people you know relatively well. It’s a family friendly place that I’ll always remember.
