I stopped in again. Unfortunately a lot of their wines are sold out again/still, but I was able to try the Merlot, which is now my favorite dry red. They describe it as fruit forward, which is probably why I like it so much. The berry flavors are pronounced and while it’s a translucent red, it doesn’t feel as thin as a lot of other reds I’ve tried in this region. The gimmicky name of their Chocolate Fantasies line doesn’t do justice to these mature, nuanced wines. Chocolate Ecstasy is reminiscent of dark chocolate filled with raspberry liquor. Chocolate Obsession is a soft red wine that tastes like chocolate covered strawberries. Chocolate Flirtation is a white wine kissed by white chocolate. My favorite Victorianbourg wine is Toriamour, a sweet wine with effervescence and the subtle flavor of raspberries. It’s playful and decadent without sacrificing depth and maturity. One of my favorite wineries, but it bums me out when I see so many wines crossed off the list. I’d really like to try their Riesling one of these days.
